135. About 12 hours after originally posting this I realised that the audio on it was from a different take and not the one I wanted to use. Whoops. Now reuploaded with hopefully the correct audio. cheers This is one of a few I've had kicking round for a while (since last year) that I really liked but could never work out what to do with. 133. This started when I didn't know where to go with the jam I was working on and decided to do something/anything else for 10 minutes. The other jam is still waiting for me to return. Thanks for watching. lily // a digitakt II jam #digitakt #digitakt2jam #digitakt2

132. My first and so far only digitakt II jam. Only loaded about 50 samples so far on it and have been more than happy just playing around with this little jam. A few things on the new box have taken a while to get used to, mainly due to my muscle memory with the original DT working against me. I feel like it's starting to click a bit more now. Looking forward to more jamming. Thanks for watchi...

129. Day we're-not-playing-that-game-anymore. This was one of a few jams from before christmas that I had but couldn't finish. I thought after doing Jamuary I'd come back and finish it in a couple of hours. I was wrong. Thanks for listening. See you soon. #digitakt #digitaktjam

Abandoned jams, aka here's what you could have won. These are the jams that didn't make it this jamuary. I've also included a couple of unused patterns from jams that did make it. Time to crack on with some new jams now. Thanks for listening. See you soon. #digitakt #jamuary #jamuary2024
day 31 // jamuary 2024 // digitakt
มุมมอง 6096 หลายเดือนก่อน
Day 31. We made it. Of all the jams I made this month this is one of them. I think this could be pretty cool with mixing and arrangement but aside from a tiny bit of panning I've had no time to do either today. Pretty glad I ended the month with something uptempo though. Kinda sad jamuary is over. Having deadlines to finish music by has been really great. Having 31 deadlines in 31 days has been...

Day 30. Went to get the letters to do the thumbnail for this video and instinctively picked up the letters for 'twenty' before realising we're actually on day 30. Crazy. This feels like it should be tomorrow's jam. Thanks for listening. See you tomorrow. #digitakt #jamuary #jamuary2024

Day 29. Today's jam nearly beat me. I wrote so many parts/variations for this and it just was not happening. In the end minimal and vibey was the way to go. Thanks for listening. See you tomorrow. #digitakt #jamuary #jamuary2024
day 28 // jamuary 2024 // digitakt
มุมมอง 3476 หลายเดือนก่อน
Day 28. This one started out with up-tempo drums and for a while I was debating whether to keep it that way or go the way it ended up. I'm glad I chose the direction I did though I may still put the other version out at some point because it did sound cool. Totally lost perspective on levels with this one by the end. Kinda surprised it didn't happen more this month but maybe it did and I wasn't...

Great jam - love this track!
Thank you!
Great stuff!
Cheers!
Great work, after watching your video, I can’t wait to start playing with my Digitakt
Mission accomplished then! Thank you
Very cool. Does this make heavy use of sampling?
I'm sorry, I'm not sure exactly what you're asking. By 'this' do you mean is there lots of sampling in the video, or is the digitakt good for sampling? or something else?
My friend, I get such joy from these posts. It’s rare for very gear-centric videos to be so musical and hit me like yours do. Please tell me you’re releasing these on Bandcamp or something so I can support you and listen when I’m out living life 🤍
That's cool, thank you for the kind words! Yeah, it'll end up on bandcamp and all the usual streaming platforms, most of my jams do :)
Really beautiful!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You’re killing it, man. ❤ superb
oh hey! thanks for checking it out!
LUSH
Thank you!
This is really awesome 😎 How do you make it sound so clear do you do any post production stuff? What settings do you have it at to convert and export it into a wav? I ask because the drums sound really clean and perfect levels. Thanks for your time
Ha thank you, you don't know what it means to read that. I spent hours going in circles yesterday tweaking the drums levels, recording and listening back. I guess the drums sounding clean is largely down to the sound of the samples themselves. Only post production is putting the track through Ozone, which in this case took some of the low end out and did some limiting. That probably helps with stuff sounding clear. You can probably tell I'm not very technical about it all, I just focus on the tune and then try and get it sounding ok enough.
@@sadlantis I can definitely hear the time spent in it with regards to all the tweaks and getting it sound clean because to me it sounds really really smooth so much so it made me ask 🙂👍🏻 What’s ozone? Do you use ableton or anything like this to export them to wav? I’m just interested because I’ve seen people with good samples make it sound rubbish when it comes to processing a track and converting and then when they start playing on the speakers it sounds really different???? Anyway I think it’s awesome 👏 Do you make your own samples from synths etc? Or do you get them in like packs and stuff? It’s interesting I like sound design and I’m a bit of a noob to all that kind of stuff
Sorry, I should have said. Yes I use Ableton. Ozone is a mastering plugin, but I've only got the basic free version. Export from Ableton 16 bit, 44.1. Most of the samples I use are from splice. I haven't experimented with making my own samples yet, but it's something I definitely intend on trying. Hope this helps a bit!
you found out how🙂
I did?
Your songs are the reason i get my DT2 today. Love it. Are your songs 100% made on the Digitakt ?
Cool, thank you! Yeah, they are. I record them into Ableton at the end but all the chopping and arranging for every single video on my channel has been 100% Digitakt. Enjoy your DT2!
Wow!
I'm gonna assume that's a good 'wow' - thank you!
Very nice! Sounds great
Thanks a lot!
really nice and relaxing!
Cheers Josh!
Woah… I love it
Thanks! There seems to be some weird compression going on - not sure if it's youtube or the way I've exported/uploaded it. oh well!
speechless
That bad?
@@sadlantis on the contrary. that GOOD
i love your music! do you have an album or anything?
Thank you! I do not have an album (yet) but most of my music is on bandcamp, and also on all the usual streaming sites. cheers
Very nice
Thank you!
@@sadlantis 🙂
wow.. this is so beautiful .. so complete. Amazing what you've done with just one device! you nailed it
Hey, thanks a lot!
This has convinced me to sell my Digitakt and upgrade to version II
I don't want to dissuade you but a good chunk of this was made on my og Digitakt. Obviously that version was only 8 tracks and not stereo. Which features on the II are tempting you?
What a powerful answer! It the tenth time I put the II on a basket online and still close windows and said I got what I already need!
100% agree!
@@sadlantis Mainly added storage space, extra 8 tracks, stereo sampling and the time stretching.
@@RhettShull Fair enough. I always said if there was a stereo digitakt it would be an instant buy for me. the fact the II had 16 tracks and more storage, both per project and overall, was the icing on the cake. I haven't found the time stretching good tbh, but maybe that's just me. if/when you do get the II let me know what you think.
Beauty!
Cheers Kevin!
Dope! ❤❤
appreciated, thank you!
Inspiring. The Digitakt II is such a wild instrument in that it can literally be what you want it to. Well done man. Keep'm coming!
It is definitely a wild instrument ha! Thanks a lot!
Absolutely love it
Thank you!
Beautiful. Cant wait to get my own DTII
Thank you! Do you have one ordered or are you just hoping to get one soon?
Lovely relaxing vibes, great work!
Thanks a lot!
Beautiful, love this. I actually clicked on this then switched to another window and forgot I had clicked the video, then wondered what that amazing music was 😅
Ha I've done that before, though not with my own music! Thank you, that gave me a good laugh.
this was really pretty! the piano kind of sounds like kingdom hearts 🗝️🖤
Thanks! I'm not familiar with kingdom hearts so just having a listen now :)
so fantastic

You make magic out of digitakt! Wow
Ha thank you! I try my best
Beautiful... Your video reminds me of everything I didn't know how to do when I bought my first digitakt. My way of playing or composing didn't fit and I didn't know how to get the potential out of it that you show. Over time I think I have learned to find new ways of composition ... and perhaps in the not too distant future I will try again. Not for nothing did I eventually acquire an OT with its significant learning curve. Excellent demonstration of its use in the ambient world.
Thank you! So you didn't get on with the digitakt so you tried octatrack instead? How did that work out?
@@sadlantis haha.. yeah..🤒 I bought the Digitakt right when it was released, and I got the Octatrack nearly two years ago. They are similar yet very different. The great advantage of the OT is that if you want to perform live while handling other external instruments, it is very versatile. It has a steeper learning curve compared to the Digitakt, but it’s very special. After this time and having changed my workflow, I would now choose the DT mk2 with much better insight.
That's cool. I got my original Digitakt after one of my friends bought an octatrack. It looked cool but I wanted to try something cheaper and simpler first! Still haven't tried an octatrack yet, I will one day though!
I'm halfway in and I'm enjoying this immensely. It doesn't have any hint of being pattern based, just sounds really alive!
Alive like bees? :) Thanks man, this took a long time to get to a point where I was happy with it.
Fantastic! It's a great day whenever you post a new track!
That's really cool of you to say, thank you!
Good vibes!
Thank you!
Glad to see you still have time for us 😂

@@EVILJAMARR You are right though, it's been too long.
@@sadlantis I intend to guilt-trip you into making music for your fans 😁
@@EVILJAMARR well at least you're honest about it
beautiful little piano motif. Has upgrading to digi 2 been worth it to you. ?
Thank you! I think so. I wasn’t keen on all the changes initially but I’ve got used to it now. How do you like the tracker mini? I’ve been watching a lot of videos on it recently - it looks cool but does seem quite big for a handheld device.
@@sadlantis it's actually really small. It's perfect for creating little rhythmic and harmonic varied sequences. I do wish it had more effects. Probably end up selling mine because I use my torso S4 and cassette 4 track recorder more.
Glad to see you using the dt2. I wanted to hear some inspiring music before deciding to buy it vs. getting the original used on the cheap.
Thank you! So have you made a decision?
@sadlantis There is a guy not too far from where I live selling a dt2 "used" but basically new because he's having a hard time with the workflow/learning curve. If he can reasonably discount it, I will likely buy it. I was planning on going to a synth expo in a few weeks. Elektron is one of the vendors that will be present.
who need a DTII when you can do such lovely things with the mk1
Aw thank you!
Man this is amazing ❤
Hey, thank you!

I'm on it.

If im a beginner is this thing worth the price or should i stick with a daw? 🤔. Awesome sound btw.
Thank you. I think it’s worth the price but I wanted to get away from my daw and use something more hands-on. The digitakt is very immediate which is also good if you’re a beginner. Having said that if you’re happy using your daw I’d stick with that if I was you. Hope this helps!
Absolutely stunning
Thanks a lot :)
Very prefuse73. Love it

Bellissima traccia. 🌅
Where are the sounds from ? Samples ?
Hi, yes, all the sounds are chopped up/mangled samples.
