Hi! We are Shelbie and Zack. We are just your every day small-town couple looking to start our latest adventure.
After much research and circling in conversation, we decided to take the plunge and buy our very first laser engraver! Our long-term goal is to create a functioning e-commerce business with our purchase. This decision was made based on a lot of faith in ourselves and our drive to want to create amazing products. We have zero experience with anything like this, and we want to show you that if we can do this, so can you.
Even though we are just starting out, we hope that you will enjoy following us along on our journey. We want to share all of the fun things that we create and what we did to get there. Hopefully it will encourage you to chase your dreams too, and you'll be able to learn from our mistakes (and laugh along with us while we make them).
Please be sure to like, comment, and subscribe to our channel so that you won't miss a video!
We can't wait for what is to come.

Cream cheese? This is not Alfredo sauce
very nice work! love it
Cool sign
Nice sign
Thank you!
Looks great.
Thanks for the video, I was getting worried 😉
lol it’s a matter of time. When the creative juices arnt flowing it’s hard to get them going
@@smalltownlasercreations never surrender, never quit. As Joe Dirt said, you gotta keep on keeping on.
Haha thanks for the motivation. I think they are flowing now and I finally got some orders in so I have content to shoot
@@smalltownlasercreations that’s rad!! I will just be anxiously waiting for new video(s) 😜 I got a genmitsu 6050 and damn, it’s difficult learning. Then I have Joe Dirt yelling at me hahaha
Craft tape?
Yes, it’s just a crafting tape or a masking tape. It helps prevent the top edges from burning and there is less sanding work you have to do post engraving.
Sharp sign
What laser machine do you have?
Thunder Nova 51 100 Watt
How do you make sure that the different parts fit together perfectly without leaving gaps? I mean, a cut also has a width. Do you cut the fitting parts a little larger and if so, how do you calculate that? Your signs look like they are all made out of one piece or printed. Awesome
This looks really good, wait until you just have that design that goes through the roof, I had one a while back and it ended up paying for my boat.
I’m hoping it happens one day but problem is most logos are custom so they don’t generally get replicated for mass production
@@smalltownlasercreations I hear you on that, So many one off designs. Right now the US is coming into an election cycle and some people appear crazy in their support of either side, that is probably something to cash in on
Awesome work. Thanks for sharing and providing us with tips 🤙🏻
Thanks! I’d love to do more content but I feel like it gets tedious lol but maybe one I’ll get in a fluent uploading schedule
@@smalltownlasercreations call me a creeper but I’ll watch every video 😂🕺🏼🤦🏼♂️
Haha hell ya! I’ll start making more then
Great video
Looking forward to seeing more of your content! Sign turned out great! Keep up the great work!
Very good video zack. You did a great job explaining. I could follow along and understand what was happening.
Thanks BA!
Looks like a lot of work. I hope you do earn a profit. Looks great.
We do alright on every sign. Most importantly, I enjoy the hell outta making them
How long did it take to fill the watertank first time? My water would't flow..
In reality it should only take a few minutes and then purging the bubbles out should take another couple minutes. Make sure that you purge all the bubbles out too
Thank you, you answer really fast! My water stays only in the reservoir. I try to blow in the snake (sorry don't know the english name), then my water goes out the reservoir, but the machine would't not pomp it. So maybe i have to blow until it work. Hopely the pump will work.
Could your hoses be reversed on the back of the machine
I don't know. I found a page with instructions when the flow test stays at 0L/min. I checked the hoses for kinks. Next step is to check a cable on the circuit board. I will do that tomorrow.
You sound like you had the best time!!!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It was one hell of a time haha
Y’all had a time!!!! 😂😂😂 I love Breathless resorts, this was the first one I ever went to on my first ever solo trip and best time ever! I love the upgrades they’ve done to the rooms!
I'm so glad all I have to do is hunt, fish,
Haha agreed. I wish I only had to do that
Didn't realize how much work went into the signs! Great Job!
Thank you! It is a lot of work but the final piece always comes out so satisfying
What room did you guys book?
Allure Junior Suite Pool View King - All Inclusive. We booked through a online website and that was the listing that we choose. The room was not perfect but to be honest, we got exactly what we expected. After talking to some people we may have over paid a little but that happens at times.
Good times we’re had by all
'Promosm' 🤷
Is this not just a base 360 IQ?
I was about to say 2 sticks of butter what you are you crazy???
And a container (a QUART) of heavy cream 💀💀💀 Maybe this is like a double or triple version of whatever recipe she's following???
Happy birthday dear Shelby happy birthday dear Shelby happy birthday dear Shelby happy birthday to you.
I have the same press. Is your press consistent same heat across the top plate? Mine is cooler on the right and hotter on the left. Just wondering if that’s kind of normal or not?
I haven’t put much time into using it to be honest. From what I can tell where I have the most issue is closer to the bill where I can’t get enough pressure
What brand is this? Can you post a link to it?
It won’t let me post links here without spam. Message us on Instagram. Smalltownlasercreations It’s from China and was only 400 bucks. People are buying them, rebranding them and selling them for 900 here
Love the videos! Before you were buying in large sheets locally, where were you purchasing your acrylic from? Have not much luck in my endeavors for affordable prices.
Best places I was able to find is custom made better .com They seem to have good pricing for what you are getting the place prior to that was CMS acrylics but they have sent closed up shop. The only Acrylic I buy local is my 4’ x 8’ sheets for large signs and that’s normally only in black, white or clear.
I also had a flux. My model was the hexa (horrible experience) very bad laser machines. Thank you for sharing your experience I had the same issues. From now I’m a flux hater. lol
Haha I am as well. I am a thunder lover and flux and full spectrum hater
I wish I found this video before I bought the flux hexa. Was a f**** nightmare. Very bad laser machine. I almost lost my bussines becuase of the flux hexa
Trust me. I wish someone put this video out as well. I paid 5k for this laser, then returned and exchanged it for 8k muse 3D and that was a giant piece of crap top. If I spent 7500 right off the bat I could have gotten a thunder nova 24 and it would have been 100% better right off the bat
Wtf! There was nothing in this whole video about being robbed at all
lol I decided to keep it out but basically younger gentleman ripped my necklace off my neck, started running away, I chased him (very dangerous) I was yelling I will pay. Ended up running into police, they grabbed him. Took us both down town and got my chain back. Rest of the time I was nervous something else would happen
@@smalltownlasercreations why would you walk around with jewelery?
@reycondor8083 to be fair, I completely forgot that I had it on, so yes it’s absolutely on me and I could have prevented it but dude didn’t have to snatch it lol
@@smalltownlasercreations cool
Hey boss, can you make 5x5 round acrylic, with a design?
I can make 48x36 signs but I can’t make anything over 48 wide. I could make even 48”x48” depending on the design
How did you get started in this business?
To be honest I have always had the entrepreneurial spirit. Once I graduated college my dad started getting shirts made and I said “I hate the way you are doing this, let’s do it this way” well that turned into 4-5 years of a small business making t-shirts and by the end I hated it. It was a ton of work to make not a ton of money, especially since each shirt was singular and custom so you couldn’t bulk out shirts. After closing that I just started researching. I wanted a machine that did majority of the work and would then make more profits. I came across lasers and enjoyed the concept of them. Well researched and researched and decided to jump in feet first and spent 8k of refinancing money from our home for house projects and bought a machine lol. The machine was small and not a great investment for what we paid but made some money. Well enough for us to sell that machine after the first year and upgrade to a 13k machine that can cut 48”x35” Long story but do not regret it at all.
It should be 1 stick of butter, in addition to the parm cheese, you needed to add Romano cheese as well, that’s why your consistency was off.
I just got the Thunderbolt. It's big, so i can only imagine how big your Thunder is. I just cut my first acrylic this weekend. I thought I would pass out from excitement from just cutting out a 1in circle. 😂I can't wait to try making a sign! It won't be as big as yours, but your video is a big help!😁
Awesome! I’m glad the video helped! If you need any help with designing of logos just shoot me a us a Instagram DM
Great video! Thank you.
Do you have the link to the button you broke the prongs off of
This is the link sent by one of the group members. Save it as it’s not advertised anywhere or on the site resources.thunderlaserusa.com/
Thanks! Is the backer 1/4"? The letters 1/8"?
For that specific sign, it was 1/4 thick
Wow! I'm surprised that just two of you could keep that from plunging down the steps.
As much as I want to take the credit, we would have to lift it off the bottom step for it to slide more because of the angle it was on the wood was doing more work lol
Nice zack
This video is brought to you by Aguila😂Nice vid man, keep traveling and filming your adventures🙏
Haha Aguila was the best! Will do! I love creating the content while traveling. Gives me a chance to look back in a number of years.
Question... What camera do you use for recording?
Sony ZV-10. It’s not a bad camera but it all depends on your budget. What are you looking to use it for?
@@smalltownlasercreations thank you!!
@@smalltownlasercreations I would be looking to use it for recording TH-cam content as well. Laser engraving videos etc
Action cameras like DJI Osmo action 4 are great cause it gives you a wider angle. Between that and the DJI mic setup you will never have to have another camera. With that being said a camera like the Sony ZV-E10 is a great camera for higher quality videos. You do not need both though to start. We have an outdoor channel that we run as well that we uses the original osmo action for 3 years without a mic and it worked great. That’s the camera I’d probably recommend over anything.
@smalltownlasercreations this is hreat to hear because u was looking to get that osmo action 4
The fact that it still works after all that abuse is a true testament to the build quality, I’m sold! How are you ever going to get that thing out if you move one day?
Haha that is a good question. Thinking some sort of winch system to be honest. To lift it out little by little
Where do you buy your colored acrylic sheets?
Now we get them from custom made better. Not a fan of their website but they have a large selection
Great video. As a new sign maker with a small diode laser, can you tell me how you account for kerf to get such good cuts? Do you cut it as one "shape" or do you layout in lightburn but then cut separately?(like all the black pieces at once for example).
I layer it by color. Then one of the colors I’ll cut all the layers out of it so that it’s more of a puzzle. Check out some of our shorts and it will show how they go together or message us on Instagram and I can send videos
You said you didn’t have enough white acrylic but what wrap did you use sir ?
Off hand I’ll be honest I’m not sure what you are talking about since it’s been so long since I’ve shot this video. The white used was likely scraps from another project and the background layer was frost white
