I had exactly the same problem and this video helped me to fix it. I used zip tie to make sure the cable stays in U socket. Thank you for making this video!

Thanks man I fix it in 10min and 10 different angry trying to fit the plastic inside of the thing, but now if fix, fxcking Toyota makes engines for ever but doesn’t make clips and seats for ever lol thanks

Wowsers! I just fixed it. The hardest part was pulling back the cover thingy. Thank you for saving me $300. (By the way, I did call the dealership just to see what they would do. It was $199 for them just to diagnose the problem, but they did say it would count towards the repair.)

Thank you for posting this. I read the below comments and it seems you helped a lot of people. Same issue happened to me today on my 2016. I broke the top level pull but that’s $11 on eBay. I did exactly what you said and it’s working. Hope it continues. Thank you again. -ps great idea on that tension hook. I don’t have one but wish I did
