Just a helping hand for those in the know or want to learn the 'ART' sign writing, I will try to post useful information regarding sign cutting, weeding, and transfer to backings and also vehicle applications, tips and tricks that will help out and also useful tools and how to use them for all viny applications though this will take time to compose. I hope I have hopefully have some useful information to share for those who are looking for help. Excuse the bumbling about I'm a little new to this but I'm sure it will better as it progresses.

Home made wasp deterrent spray
A home made concoction of wasp deterring incense oils and malt vinegar. Used by myself for the last few summers to keep the garden and surrounding areas clear of wasps and early signs of wasp nests.

How much is a Roland plotter now
Hello, nice video. I have a Roland PC-50 plotter and want one like to connect to a Windows 10 computer. Is there a possibility from serial interface to USB?
Hi Mark. I have tried every possible way to connect this plotter to modern pc’s to no avail. Unfortunately a old xp era style pc with serial or parallel ports is required for these to run correctly.

@@brunobatistavalentin Hi, unfortunately, in my experience there is no possible way to connect these older plotter machines to any modern computer without the computer having a built in parallel or serial port and running an early window os such as xp. i have tried many usb to serial converters on various modern laptops with no luck. i have settled for using my modern laptop for designing an fire up the old tower pc when it comes to cutting.

Can you sale me one of those cables for mine. It’s not cutting it says that there’s something is wrong with the ports .it would be of much help pulse.can’t see the answer sir.
Sorry I don’t have one for sale. But the cable is a female serial port that connects to the computer and a female parallel port that connects to the plotter. I’m sure these are easy to find from what I remember. Cheers

Hello, looking for a used CX24 right now but saw its end of life model at Roland. Do you still recommend that model if I can get it for cheap (around 600$CAD) ? It seems it doesn't support Win7/8/10 as well so I would need an older XP computer... Best Regards from Canada
Hey :) Yes I would definitely recommend the CX-24. It’s a little slow and noisy compared to modern servo driven plotters but very accurate and hella reliable. Yes you are correct. An older tower pc with serial/parallel ports is required also on xp, recommended. I have tried and tried to no avail to get the plotter to connect to a modern pc. Best regards.
hi i doubt I will get a response but I just got one of these and I'm having all kinds of problems setting it up my plugs are in the serial port not the parrell will that matter; also do you have any idea what cutter software will work with this and windows 10. lastly my pen mode button is flashing whenever I hit setup do you know what is causing this because it is preventing me from doing a test cut? thank you

Hello! Help me to understand! I got an old plotter Roland camm-1 cm-24. Test without connecting to a computer prints perfectly. Drivers like put, the computer recognizes. Windows xp 32 bits. Connected via a transition cord from lpt to usb. When you send to print from Corel Draw, he reacts but a little stretches the film and stops. What am I doing wrong. Maybe what settings need to be changed? Can work with another program? Really in the age of technology, no one connected this unit via usb? On TH-cam, I saw what a dude from a laptop with 10 Windows was cutting. For the answer I will be very grateful.

Could you do a video on setting up this machine to usb from serial ?
Hi, I have tried to set up using usb before with a usb to serial converter but with no luck. This is a struggle as new PC's don't have serial or parallel ports anymore. the best and my only option was to invest in an old pc with the required ports.
only certain usb to serial work, google the ones that work and your doing cutting!!
how to install the driver?
Mayara Machado the driver should come with the software program and is installed when installing the program. I'm afraid I haven't been able to find the drivers alone.

Andres Mernes Hi Andres Many different or most softwares/programs from the time period of the cm-24 manufacture are compatible with the cm-24. The only drivers available for the cm-24 are comparable for windows 95 upto windows xp so I would expect the program most suitable would need to fit into this time period, 1995-2001. My setup is Hp pc with parallel port on rear, 2001 Windows Xp Pc connected to plotter with parallel cable Program: WinPcSign 2007/drivers included with the program. Ok there is this company in vanays california they sail roland plotters and they sail a sosoftware called signlab i use it it cost 500 bucks but they could answer any of your questions .
