Aside from dissing the first Pacific Rim film (the ONLY one that counts) I agreed with your other points. I pretty much ignore any E7 content that's not the original series.

Watched all 3 in the last two days. Like shit feels like Bones actively dislike the fans of the original. Like fuck man everyone outside of Talho and the doctors from the Geckko are dead including Eureka and Renton. Eurekas interactions with Iris were cute though and adult Eureka is pretty hot.

It just goes to show it doesn't matter if original people are attached to a project. I'd heard that Dai Sato was only involved in the first Hi-Evolution movie which makes sense because most of it was just copied and pasted from the show he worked on. I kind of enjoyed the first act with Adroc to an extent but everything else...I've just stuck with the original series and based on your videos about these movies I'm glad I did.

I think they tried to make it something complex like Evangelion but in the end it doesn't work because they are very different series in terms of story type, let's keep pretending that only the original series exists and everything else hasn't happened. After the first movie that nobody remembers "Pocket Full of Rainbows" they have been screwing up ever since and that includes every manga, novel, anime and movie they released afterwards. It has been a disaster. It seems that no matter how hard they try, they have not been able to repeat the magic of the original series.

These movies pissed me off as a fan of the original show. All we needed was just a where are they now movie where Renton and Eureka return to Bell Forest to be with the kids and then maybe help out with a minor threat. Instead we get this bullshit that not only doesn’t get the original. But seems to outright hate it and the worst part is, these movie have basically retconned it to where half of the original never even happened just to teabag the fans more.

there are other things in this franchise other then the og 50 Eps? I mean I know about AO which I really don't want to watch as it's ratings are abysmal, and I read the OGs manga (which I really liked) but I had no idea they were still making content for this show 10+ years later

Man not going to lie as some who only watched eureka 7 when there was 15 back when Netflix still had the series back in 2014 and later on read the manga when i was still in middle or high school i got to say eureka 7 truly can't catch a break at all and i sure don't want to know what happens in the third hi evolution movie man the first 2 movies were truly piss poor and when are watching both of them they truly make no sense at all man i sure do feel sorry for all the original eureka 7 fans that truly grow up with the series when it out or airing on toonmai back in the day eureka 7 fans truly deserve better and also the series should have been left alone in peace

I haven’t see eureka 7 in years but i still remember it being a show about it characters and the dynamics between those characters. It still is sorta crazy how nearly every character is still rememberable to me for there own unique characters moments and that includes the side characters. I still remember how Renton just thought surfing boarding was just cool and the story actually let it be cool for moments at a time, the surfing was even cooler in mecha fights which made eureka main mecha stay unique from every other mecha show in existence. I am not even talking about the sci-fi elements in the story that were actually sci-fi, I can’t even explain what was going on in certain episodes and that a really good thing.

He finally did it. Congratulations, it's finally over. I watched the whole thing and I have a few parting thoughts. Firstly, I can't really argue with your review of the movie. I came to a similar conclusion in that as an E7 movie it's worse than bad. As a normal mecha sci-fi movie, it's mid at best. I remember watching with my friends in Discord on New Year's Eve in 2022 and I actually said "if these were original movies, they would get so much leeway." They wouldn't necessarily be GOOD movies, but they would at least not be viewed with such disdain as they are for being E7 movies. Second, I think it's pretty clear that Eureka 7 as a property is dead now. These movies that were supposed to reinvigorate a franchise and a fandom that, let's face it, were already pretty stagnant, but completely backfired. I don't even know who to put the blame on. Was it Kyoda for being so bitter and having delusions of grandeur? Was it Bones for greenlighting the project in the first place? Was it Bandai for pushing it so hard? Whatever the reason, I don't see any hope for Eureka 7 getting picked up again by Bones. The only way I could imagine it coming back is if Bones sold the rights to another studio and they made something else, but even then, I think the damage has been done. If by some MIRACLE we get another Eureka 7 anime, I won't be there to see it. As far as I'm concerned, this is where it died for me. Speaking of miracles, you are 100% correct about the original. The first TV series really was a happy accident, a true "lightning in a bottle" moment. Everything came together so well and created a piece of art that resonates with us to this day. I watched the first anime when I was 16 years old on Adult Swim (I'm 34 now) and I still find myself going back and watching the original in short bursts from time to time. And each time I do, I realize just how lucky we all were to get it at all because I walk away from it thinking "this anime would never get made today." In many ways, the anime taught me how to live. It made me an anime fan. It introduced me to friends I still talk to today, more than 15 years later. It's the gold standard of anime for me. And that will never change. If I can say one good thing about Hi-Evo, is that it made me appreciate the original again. "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." Thank you once again for making the review. I hope you keep making videos in the future. :)

Eureka 7 is my favorite anime of all time. Saw it when I was Renton's age, living in a sucky town in the middle of no where and could relate with him entirely. I cannot think of a fanbase done more dirty than E7's.

All I wanted was a good and enjoyable continuation of the first series. Instead we got AO and that was a clusterfuck to where it felt so disconnected from the original series despite tieing directly to it based on events. And the 3 movies that I have honestly avoided like the Plague.

Dominic was definitely done the dirtiest. He isn't even human,lol. His great relationship with Anemone from the og series gets thrown into the fire in this movies. Like he was never important to neither Anemone nor the series as a whole. This encapsulates my problem with this movies. They treat so many of the og characters as Easter eggs(e.g Nirvash,the Gecko state crew,Dominic,Renton to an extent,and e.t.c),instead of giving them the presence in the story that they deserve. All Bones has to do to revive this ip,is obviously not make another High Evo movie(since its obvious they failed with it),but instead remake the og series,with less filler,less annoying Renton,more arcs focused on the other members of Gecko state,and going more in depth with Dewey and his philosophy.

Yep. Total let down. I Expected so much more. Even Ao was better than what te turned out.

The end of an era, thank you for bearing through this godawful trilogy for our sake. See everyone back here again in 5 or 6 years when studio Bones drags this franchise back from the graveyard for the 4th time! 👍

How is a story that weaves together a story about alien life with existence warping capabilities, a story about an unitarian country harming the planet and rebels fighting against it, a story with very well made character archs for at LEAST 10 characters, and probably one of the best love story and coming of age story, just a "basic" story?

Denji doesn't think being treated like a dog is nice. He even pointed that out himself. He is just so shallow and pathetic, that a single look at Makima's beautiful figure, was enough to make him swallow it up. Exactly what he did with power upon meeting her and even later afterwards. He found her super annoying, but every time he looked at her boobs he relented. And no, being a teenager doesn't excuse this idiocy. The vast majority of people have enough dignity to not tolerate a person that doesn't treat them properly no matter how they look. Don't even get me started about him ignoring his survival instincts and engaging in a fight to the death against a bat demon, just to get a "feeling". Him killing the Yakuza guys should have been a moment of liberation, both physically and mentally. But apparently, a hot girl was all it took to make him relapse. That's why a lot of people s@hit on his character. He is simply a weirdo, and far from being a relatable character. Him enjoying the simple things in life is definitely not a bad thing. But that unhealthy infatuation he has with the opposite sex, to the point that even his morality on saving lives depend on it, is what makes him so insufferable. Edit: Apparently he is also dumb too. Cause when that time demon trapped them in the hotel. When someone mentioned that the hour is stuck at 8 oclock or something. His response was, "O dam. So we can sleep as much as we want then?" And no, education for the very basic common sense is not needed.

Hi-Evolution is what happens when Renton didnt survie eureka as slime transformation. = alternate reality eureka triggered her world dying with Rentons death. Fuuka-Anemone pulled "eureka & her dying world" into her reality. thinking it was just virtual Fuuka-Anemone doesn't have a Dominic and is not a drug induced military weapon OG Anemone had multiple personalities, from different realities.
