How fast you been in a loaded semi truck?? Fastest I remember was in a 2002 w900L flat glass flat top. Had a c16 caterpillar, 18 speed transmission with 336 rears and a wheelbase of 295".. it had the cat digital display on the dash, said we were rolling across Nebraska at 115mph,

I first encountered Henry on a run across Arizona and New Mexico in 1987 or 88... He was driving this KW then. Last week I got passed by a new model Kenworth with HG in the grille. I KNEW it had to be him, but I haven't run a CB in several years now, so I had no way of communication to find out for sure. What an amazing career he has had, and I am SO glad you posted this! THANKS!

Been there many times over my 45 years as an oversize and heavy long haul truck driver . a wonderful museum .and right across the street from the I 80 truck stop .

The Chevy Titan and GMC Astro cabovers were two of the coldest damn trucks I've ever driven in my life. The heater couldn't over compensate for the largest grill and windshield in the truck manufacturing buisness. I lived in Cleveland and ran from Cleveland East and North if there. During winter runs there were times when its was soooo cold from the windchill that I'd have to get out of the bunk to drop the trailer and then bump the front of the cab up to the trailer just so i wouidnt freeze to death in upstate New York and Maine. I couldn't wait to get into conventional.

I know Mr Cochran. The man that owned and ran that truck. He is a true trucker. Good as gold.

O-H-I-O Porter greetings. 🇺🇸 I still love cabovers & would choose one over many of the conventionals out there. I remember seeing them back in the day. I loved riding my bike by the GMC dealership & drooling over them & the Generals. I tried to buy one when I was 16 but just couldn’t do it. One REGRET! Yeah, they’re hard to get into, or at least take more effort getting in/out of, but they’re so fun to drive! I drove a Ford C800 & several other cabovers back in the day…Marmon, Ford, GMC, IH. Great trucks! Tis a shame that GM quite making these trucks! Cabovers Rule!!! 🥰🤩✌️

My first 10 years driving was a in a Jimmy. My first driving job (87) I drove a 76 Jimmy, 318 ten speed. Used a gallon of oil every other day. Armstrong steering, no a/c ,no jukebox.The othe Jimmy I drove was in the early 90s it had the silver Detroit (350 horse) 13 speed, a/c (roof mounted) that worked fantastic, power steering and a am radio. Once I got used to it I loved that truck. It just didn't pull long hills very well. Did okay on shorter hills, tached out at 2300. It would run 85 all day long (if you could handle the decibel level) probably why I have a hearing loss in my right ear. My first local job I drove a Brigadier, I hated that truck. The cab was small and cramped. It had a 300 Cummins Big Cam with a 7 speed trans. It did have power steering but other than that it was a rolling turd.

Now we know where Elon Musk got the idea for the Cybertruck & Starship!

I miss driving those Astros. No power steering, no a/c, and no air ride suspension. But I loved them just the same.

I miss driving them, spent my first 12 years in a cabover.

The contoured flatbed made this possibly the only one still out there. AND it’s one of the many trucks that helped build the world famous Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 My dad started trucking in the 1930s & told me of trucks that you had to light a fire in a coffee can & place it under the oil pan to help warm it up enough to start it. Was this one of them? It’s a beautiful tuck. I’ve not seen too many of them though. Love the old trucks. Thanks for the info. 🥰🤩✌️

The way the commentator worded his description of the 519 c.i. engine makes it sound like the EN 519 didn't come out until 1939 but that is not so. It came out in the early mid 30s and the END 519 Diesel version was running 1936 and released on to the market in 1937.😊
