Harold Simmons Park
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 30 ส.ค. 2022
Why Does Building Harold Simmons Park Matter? It matters because great cities are defined by great parks. We have the opportunity to build a one-of-a-kind urban nature park, that is as iconic to Dallas as Central Park is to New York City. We can create a park that will be the heart of our city. Uniting all Dallas communities with a beautiful natural greenspace.

It'll be so nice! Can't wait to walk through it!
Seems like an awfully small park for what has been promised to the citizens of Dallas for years. Truly a shame that Dallas cannot live up to the promises it makes. The park should have been developed years ago and should have included a much larger space all along the Trinity River.
Thank you for your comment and interest in Harold Simmons Park. The park will be 250 acres and include 200 acres within the floodway. Harold Simmons Park will be 50 acres bigger than what was proposed in 2016.
@ it certainly is not what was promised at those civic meetings 35 years ago at the Bronco Bowl. Nice try.
dallas is quietly developing a great park system with Klyde Warren, The Ron Kirk bridge park, the future deck park in oak cliff, all the new parks in downtown, the new park at fair park and now the harold simmons park!
Something tells me that this park is about traffic and the "remarketing" or marketing of Dallas as a city. In response to the projected 3 million plus visitors consider the better than most but pretty low 1-2% metro population growth rate and even lower for Dallas proper. Consider the yearly 4.0% increase in municipal cost common to suburban planning. Consider the outstanding 2.5-3.5% growth rate of the Dallas economy. Consider the yearly 4-5% increase in property values. This project is needed but maybe they don't need to attract so many people. They will likely be from DFW and take away revenue from their own cities, which need foot traffic themselves to off set municipal cost and with the economy doing so well in Dallas the traffic might cause a bit too much gentrification and inflation in the area, displacing the locals. IMOP it functions well as an end of the day retreat for local downtown dwellers and maybe a weekend outing for suburbanites but is being positioned as something else. Even when the surrounding trinity groves commercial office development is built, the HSR, Hunt realty reunion development and convention center district, it might be a lot for visitors to be congested right there in a new part of town. In that way, a roi on property values would be my aim and reinvestment towards the inevitable displacement...unless like everyone starts using DART or they build a line(A FEW) or trolley or something
When will ground break?
We are breaking ground his Fall (2024)!!!💚
Very nice!
Not parks, but plazas (places). A plaza is the larger place that contains many parks, trails and other attractions like the Turtle Creek, White Rock, or North Oak Cliff areas. One shouldn't be building a park for today; but; it should be built for tomorrow's enjoyment. A park is a two dimensional thing that city officials force upon their taxpayers. A plaza is a pretty overall area recognized by the people which will trigger gentrification. Once the city takes over that development trying to gentrify the whole city, it is all over but the Taps played on a bugel.
Would like to invite you to understand the park, and how the park will benefit Dallas. Connecting people with nature and each other.
@@haroldsimmonspark I do understand parks. My baby son would start cheering for us to stop at every one of them we passed by after seeing its swing sets. What is the pretty plaza now forming in North Oak Cliff? It includes the Dallas Zoo, Jefferson Blvd., the hills and trees, the Bishops Arts District, Lake Cliff Park, the trolley, the soon to be completed deck park over I-35, and so on. It isn't the park, but the overall place containing many parks, trails, and other attractions.
Looking forward to this park. 🎉🎉
