In music theory, sharps and flats get added to the staff in the same order every time. In this video we'll look at the order sharps and the order of flats and where to properly place them on the staff for key signatures.
Sharp vs. Flat Keys - why can’t we just pick one??
มุมมอง 9853 ปีที่แล้ว
Wouldn't it be easier if we could just pick one? Nope! Unless you want to deal with double sharps and flats (you don’t), switching from one accidental to the other is easier. Here's why we need to have sharp and flat keys, using the circle of fifths and enharmonic equivalents.

I get anxious when people try to be my friend too quickly. They do it all the time. Idk why i give off a friendly vibe...but i need to kill it. It doesnt seem to benefit me much. Being everyones friend.
Head over heart, heart over pelvis, pelvis over feet 🫡
Best choir teacher!! She's my choir teacher at my highschool, love having her as a teacher! ❤
You're so lucky!!! Tell her to post a video with your choir singing ;))
I'm 21, I started smoking every day when I was 14. I have no VISIBLE consequences to my voice and I still have my tenor tessitura. Today is the last day. I smoked my last cigarette some hours ago, I can't allow all these years of training go to waste because of my negligence. Thank you for the video, it really opened my eyes.
hey, thanks so much for watching, and for sharing that! Best wishes to you on your journey.
@@MikaylaFeldman It's been a month aleady. I did QUIT! Thanks <3
Literally found this video after having a serious meltdown struggling to sing songs I've been able to sing flawlessly for years. I've been smoking for over 20 years and I feared this day would come but it wasn't until the last year that I've noticed a real impact on my voice and it's devastating to me right now. Not that I didn't know better but I've always been lucky in that sense and honestly even had myself convinced that it gave my voice that raspy edge, as I sing alot of Sinatra and soulful music and alot of those artists were chain smokers. But lately I have so much less power in my voice and a drastic decrease in lung capacity so hitting any kind of high note is out of the question. Common sense says we'll quit, duh, but if it were only that easy. As a person who is extremely habit forming and been thru many addictions in my life, I've successfully quit literally everything else, even drinking which repulses me at this point, but cigarettes are like that old friend I can seem to say goodbye to. A few years back my mom quit after like 40 years of smoking because she basically lost her singing voice and was fed up and I think I might be finally hitting that same moment myself. It's just so damn hard. Even when I think about quitting, it's like I immediately want a cigarette. However, I'm heartbroken right now after attempting to sing and barely being able to and it has even effected my ability to do impressions which I'm really fkn good at. Well I was atleast. I'm gonna force myself to keep watching videos and doing research about quitting because it's already bad enough I've let stage fright stop me from chasing my singing dreams but I'll be damned if I'm gonna let smoking steal my voice from me altogether!
thanks so much for watching and for sharing some of your story. quitting is definitely not easy, but it sounds like you’ve got some good momentum! wishing you all the best and believing that you have a long and fulfilling singing journey still ahead of you!
Is there a physicist on the plane?
Thank you for the explanation! Very easy to understand. I have a question, how to notate that a piece is supposed to repeat forever? Some video game music is meant to loop indefinitely, I was wondering how i would notate that.
You could just write a note at the beginning or the end of the piece to repeat indefinitely.
this helped a lot! <3
glad to hear it! Thanks for watching!
excellent explanation !! very pedagogical !! thank you!!!
thanks so much!
Hi I want To Use D.S al Fine along with Additional repeat bar line... but IAM not getting it right it auto plays avoiding the repeat bar but only following the command . Canyou hlep me?
Don't forget to watch this without double speed on or it will be very confusing at first
Great explanation!
thanks so much! thanks for watching
The timer started: 60 bpm The timer is only 10 seconds left: 120 bpm The timer is 5 seconds left: 240 bpm
Excellent explanation , thank you very much.
Super interesting 😎
I recently downloaded a JM Jarre sheet..and there are for example TWO D.S. signs at the beginning of a piece (Oxygene)...the sheet has a very complicated repeating scheme, even with your help here it's very hard to decipher it, lol. Why did they put in 2 D.S. signs together, I just don't get it...I'll be forced to import the wav file into Cubase, to see what's going on. But thanks for the basics here, great work and demo!
EXACTLY what I was looking for! Great vid without unnecessary waffle
glad you enjoyed! thanks for watching!
I cant sing at all anymore, its the only thing i had i was grateful for. I cant stop vaping, its harder then smoking. These things where made for quitting smoking and now theres double the challenge to get off nicotine. These have more nicotine then a pack of cigarettes. They're highly addictive and evewhere and so easy to pick up again. I only get 3 months and im back on them. If your reading this as a casual vaper, please throw it away before it takes over you wallet life and health. Also im aging badly i have crows feet at 24.
Ill learn Italian after this 😂
I enjoyed it a lot.
Glad you enjoyed!
I enjoyed it a lot.
THIS WAS SO HELPFUL THANK YOU SO MUCH ❤
Glad to hear it!
A question though, should I reuse a repeat symbol if the piece have a DC? (meaning the repeat appeared before the DC) Thank you!
Tanx lady🙏🙏
i love youuu
What do I do with the second hand smoking .. I'm surrounded by a smokers and I'm really worried about my voice ? 💔
Thank you so much. I love the examples which follow the explanation.
Great video very helpful ! please a question if there are two repeat symbols //: to :// within the score. then at the very end of the complete music there is the repeat symbol :// do I repeat the full song and play the piece between twice again before continuing to the end ? it is in a grade book I have. Thank you EXAMPLE: 4/4 A B D G7 //: a b cm d:// G f#m D B / Cm F7 G A7 :// Thank you xx
