No question, the Creedmoor round is better at long ranges. As for the .308, the bullet isn't all that different from the 30-o6 I competed with back in 1963, and we used 165gr boattail bullets. Oh, and iron sights! Custom machined to a smaller aperture, but still iron sights. Rifles, match grade M1 Garand for the first few matches, then match grade M14s, the first time to my knowledge that the rifle was used in competition. We used Fr Riley KS ranges, and after a full day of shooting my right cheek was swollen and my shoulder was seriously bruised!

Can you please tell me: 1) what is the pressure in psi that you are getting? 2)do you think that in 7mm PRC with 26" barrel, Berger 180 grains, 67.5 grains of H1000 powder I would get velocity of 3000 fp/s and would the pressure be to high and what would be the amount? Best regards!

I followed the Alex Wheeler concept and how he improved the PRCs with a larger body by 0.002 and a bit more freebore. My 300WSMs will need long actions but that's what I wanted. the 300WSM is well known for its accuracy. I've got 180, 190, 210 grain bullets with the heavier bullets being Berger VLDs.

Both are awesome but 300 will deliver a little more energy downrange for hunting and have a little more surface area before and after expansion also going a little deeper. No replacement for displacement kinda thinking. Which I will take a 308 over a 6.5 any day for under 400y hunting. But 7mm vs 30cal is so close both are more than enough. Even for long range people that go 300 say it's for the bigger splash and easier to spot. The 7 has slightly better ballistics

300 PRC also can be a military/tactical cartridge due to its terminal energy, and DOD actually adopted it. While 7 PRC is mainly a hunting cartridge. Historically unlike 30 caliber, 7mm caliber was rarely used as military/police caliber.
