I was gonna do a voiceover for the train to tell the story, but my voice & my mom, brother aren’t feeling well. I hope you guys like this as I attempt this 😂. So with the recent news out of Fort Wayne, I didn’t to hop on Ro Scale Central & drive around the Hudson since it’s the closet thing in game. A total of 275 4-6-4’s (265 American Locomotive Company & 10 Lima Locomotive Works) were built between 3 sets of years for each class. The J1s were built between 1927-1931, the J2s 1928-1931, & finally the J3s were built between 1937-1938. Leading truck h...
Climax Steam Locomotive
มุมมอง 93หลายเดือนก่อน
The Climax is a geared steam engine that was manufactured by the Climax Manufacturing Company (Climax Locomotive Works) out of Corry, Pennsylvania. Approximately 1,000 to 1,100 were built between 1888-1928. There was 3 types of classes (Class A,B, & C) built for the Climax. Class A: Had similar frames to a flatcar but with a wood boxcar like bodywork to protect the crew & fuel. A smaller engine...

So this is late, yes I know that😂. My mom, my brother & I took a trip to Strasburg Railroad. Canadian National 2-6-0 89 was on the run for the days train. I was using my stabilizer for most of my shots, & when I was on the train it was kinda hard to put it somewhere to where my arm was comfortable, but nonetheless I hope you all enjoy💯. #strasburgrailroad #steamengine

Some corrections about the ones in Oaks. The 44 tonner isn't a 44 tonner, it's a 45 tonner. It was never attempted to be cosmetic restored. These used to be stored in another location in Oaks, where only the visible side was repainted. It was never planned to do the whole loco. It was also never owned by Steamtown. It was built for Alan Wood Steel and they converted it to radio control, then it was sold to a tourist railroad that would have operated out of Oaks, but that never happened. Then at some point, it was sold again to the current owner. The speeder (only shown, not talked about) was Upper Merion & Plymouth number 5. I assume it was built by them as it doesn't match any other commercialy avaliable designs. It was also sold to the failed tourist railroad, and there is actually a video of it in operation, although the audio had been replaced with music (and for some reason can only be watched in Microsoft Edge??? It gives an error in the app and Google.) Some additional info. The steam loco was built in September 1902 by H.K. Porter for National Steel where it was sent to its Mingo Junction plant. In 1917 it was sold to the U.S. Army, and in 1920 was sold to Worcester Electric Co. of Worcester Massachusetts, where it was their number one. In 1936 Worcester Electric merged with some other electric companies in the area to form Worcester County Electric Co. 1 stayed operating at the same plant. In 1937 the locomotive was reboilered. In 1960 Worcester County Electric renamed themselves Massachusetts Electric Co. and in 1962, 1 was retired. In 1968 it was sold to Steamtown, and in 1969 was moved to North Walpole, New Hampshire. In the early 70's it was repainted into Steamtown's own paint scheme, around this time it was test fired. In 1985 Steamtown moved to Scranton, the move cost a lot, more than they had. So, in October 1988 it was sold at auction for $4,800. It was later sold to its current owner and moved to Oaks. The Whitcomb is a mysterious one. All I have found out is that it's frame number is 12381, and it was part of the Steamtown collection. In terms of build date the engine is marked as being built in 1927. (By the way it's a gas-mecanical) Reportedly it had it's clutch replaced in Steamtown ownership. It was also sold at the October 1988 auction, for a price of $1,750 to its current owner. Current owner is unnamed for privacy, you can find it online though.
Sorry about the big wall of text. I have spent so many hours of my time researching these things.
No it’s fine 😂 mad respect though 😂. I do have videos of each oaks engine. It’s minimal information on each but I could’ve sworn the the 45 tonner was part of the collection but I might be forgetting 😂.
& any information known by others especially more/better information is better.

You have real treasures there that many of us would love to have. I could tell you a lot about what you have if I could see any of it. You need light behind your camera, not be hind you.
I wish I had the controller for it to see if they run, they look amazing for there age. I also got a desk lamp now so it’ll brighten anything like that up💯
@@Lil_Pennsy American Flyer transformers are readily available at little cost. Based on the fact that you have original boxes that are in good shape (and greately add to the value of what you have), that locomotive will run, but should receive basic service before being run much.
@MarkWick well yes of course I’d service it before I would completely break it in. I saw they were $40 on eBay, I would like to get it going. I recently worked on my first O gauge, & it worked after servicing. I have a short of it running coming out in a few weeks on a Wednesday
It ain’t got no gas in it😊
Ain’t that the truth😂
Fabulous place!!!
Absolutely
😂
First edit like this😂 I’m glad u found it funny
Alco RS 3 ??
Yes
Gee, I wonder if the "builder's plates" were still attached to the side frames ...... just kidding.
😂😂
This is the last thing we did together, my wife & I, before she died suddenly. That was 1997.
I’m so sorry to hear that, I hope it was a bright spot for you after she passed.
Great video. Like me!
would PRR 3750 be steamed.
She wouldn’t at any point, due to her being PRR museum property & her boiler explosion. She would last one certificate n then be like 7002 & 1223
Looks restorable.....
U could say that, will never be though😢
@@Lil_Pennsyeasy! Just paint over the rust and donate it to a museum!
@659in it’s not mine😂 & plus it would need a lot more work then that
@@Lil_PennsyI mean it's in better condition than rocket the only really part that needs to be restored to look new is the paint job and donating to the museum will be the hard part like contacting the museum getting the museum to agree and etc.
@659in true, but a lot of people over the past decade have said the owner is stubborn & wont let them go
Alco RS-3.
Yep
Spray a little starter fluid in the engine, should start right up. 😂
😂 I wish that’d be funny
Looks like a RS3.
It is
Great follow up vid.
Thank you, plan to go every once in a while once spring comes

Awesome video, thanks for sharing! That place looks like a lot of fun.
It was fun going
Trains be pogchamp.
Awesome! I got a shot similar to the first one but with Strasburg 90!
Thank you, it was awesome to see 90 out, especially for my friends first time riding a steam engine
Yeah 90 is definitely a sight to see!
@StrasburgRailroadRailfan always will be
Well I hope so. It is going down for a service soon that will take about a year if I’m not mistaken.
@StrasburgRailroadRailfan yeah😢, but that’s ok I love 89, 475 was the first engine I rode on back in 04
I want this Alco Rs3 for the Green Bay and Western rr club because it still has the high nose in front. Then sandblast it and painted Red 🟥 and use plexiglass panels by the diesel prime mover so people can see the 244 style engine. It is next to s dirt service road and can easily be lifted out by 3 large cranes for loading on a low-boy semi and shipped over here to Green bay!! Ok!! Wed.Dec.19.2023A.D
I don’t know who owns the area
That is an ex Pennsylvania Railroad RS3 shame that it got even worse.
Yeah, I have another video when I first saw it
That's right in the Oaks area near King of Prussia Pennsylvania
Yep
I have the property to relocate it and place it next to the old mainline... I just need money now...

Hmm
Thats an ALCO RS2 or RS3 probobly built in the late 1940's
RS3 💯
I built a 040 Porter saddle tank loco that I run around my house. I’ve got 900’ of track. Cool little engine’s.
They are nice to have
Those engines are from the Alan Wood Steel co. In conshohoken pa. They currently reside on station road in Oaks Pa. On what's left of the Reading Railroads Perkiomem Branch.
That is true. There are some engines sitting at the steel mill to this day that are active, at some point I would like to go find them, but I’m not sure.
This is the one in oaks isn't it?
Yep
@@Lil_Pennsy i recognize it from when I've been there for the train shows
@PBMRR 💯, my friend never went to one, thinking about taking him to the one in January
@@Lil_Pennsy the ones in oaks are nice but they are slowly shrinking. I also recommend the ones in Allentown.
@PBMRR I’ve to the oaks 2 times in recent years, I can’t get to Allentown
It clearly says Whitcomb on the radiator not Plymouth
My mistake I’m not sure about diesel, thanks for the notice, I saw it but didn’t think much of it at the time
The air compressor on the front is a rare thing. Also, there are two engines like this in the middle of Ohio rusting away.
It’s sad seeing any engine like this
@alishalama3650 chocolate? I’m confused 😂
I wooden know about that
Pun intended?😂

A shame seeing her in this rusted condition, hopefully she gets restored one day
That's awesome!
Thank you 💯
Great video! You guys sure know your locomotives! Do you think they’ll restore it? I think it has a lot of potential. That’s back in the good, after war, EMD years when railroads first started to dieselize their locomotive fleet.
I honestly don’t think it would get restored but you never know.
@@Lil_Pennsy That'll buff right out!
Sad To See An Old Abandoned And Stripped Locomotive Like That. It's A Wonder The PRR Left It There Instead Of Scrapping It Out...
Awesome!
This in gary?
No Oaks, Pa near the expo center
Wow! The vultures picked it clean!! It’s a shell now!!
Sadly
It was in running condition when parked. Heavy vandalism made it totally worthless, but from what I see, it appears she’s been harvested for parts to restore other ALCO RS3’s.
I believe it, it is sad to see it like that
If you search PRR 8479 you can find pictures of this locomotive while it was still in service and also when it was parked alongside the shops in Reading, PA. You can also find the sad last few years of its history.
Is that a real steam loco?
Yes to a degree
Propane fired?
@@fredjacobsYeah, it actually does look propane fired!
@woodentrainboi3769 it is
@@fredjacobsyes it is, on the main video I did a worker who works & helps the little engine says it is propane
