Hagel like. Needs to work on shot. Than again he had a bum shoulder.
Hagel was the comparable I had for Tij Iginla. Really curious to see what Vanacker will look like in the upcoming few years once healty. I'm a huge fan.
He’s a steal as a late first rounder
Live and learn.
I still can't believe he fell to #23, I thought for sure he'd be gone in the top 15. Steal for Anaheim.
Same !
@@SimonSt-L-Scouting I saw all his games in Norway last season and I said before the draft, if you get this guy after 15 its a robery, so grats too Anaheim!! :)
@@Mortimer78 Awesome ! There's a few Norwegian players on my radar for next year draft. It's great to see young talents emerges from a Non-Traditional Hockey Country.
@@SimonSt-L-Scouting well, vaalerenga have deepntraditions. its the teqm who won thei natinoal cup most times in Europe. Espen Knutsen who also played for ducks when selanen and Karia was there comes from here and we have a great audiense. Belive me playing for this club is actually a lot of pressure and will prepare you for a lot. storhamar wich beat us this year in the finals actually had three former nhl players in their roooster and was a very good team.
@@SimonSt-L-Scouting can I ask who is on your radar?
Great video! Loved all the highlights included. Even the non goals/assists give insights to where the player goes while in certain zones. It’s exciting to see. Ducks got a good one! Hoping he’s a Bobby Ryan/Corey Perry hybrid.
Thanks ! I'm a huge fan of Solberg also (12th on my list) you can check the video on him too.
Bienvenue a Montreal Ivan.
His puck possession body positioning; cuts to find space, angles he takes on opposition bodies when he moves. That part of his game is truly elite I think he got that from his dad bc is abnormally really really elite how he does it without thinking smoothly and spontaneously he literally will move into angling off defender while finding space with the puck. Obviously his base is strong and technically elite. Smart and safe no one is ever in a position to lay a big hit on him from what I saw. His got tools others dont definitely hof potential like hella. On puck is stellar, off puck instincts and smarts are tops love pressure and quick disruption does not have A+ skating or unreal speed but he’s a tank type more than roadrunner type fs
This is the best footage of Jiricek I've seen yet. Big kid who's got great mobility, shiftiness, elite vision and a bit of physicality. Really like hes aggressiveness without the puck too. Closely gaps very very quickly. Blues have a solid right hand defencemen here
Thanks a lot ! Yeah I do like Jiricek. In February 2023 I was completly in love with him, I thought he would be a top 5 pick in this draft and that he would be better than his brother. He lacks strenght a lot and he may not be as good offensively as I first thought, but I do believe that if he had played in the CHL this year, the public discussion around him would have been much more positive. I'm gonna stay interessted in his developpment for sure.
How are you overrated when you score 50pts in 41 games as the second youngest freshman in the NCAA. He broke the record for most points by a freshman player in NCAA history.. He’s a National Champion on various different levels too. You still think he’s overrated after you made this??

👍
Great scouting report. This made me incredibly optimistic about his future in Chicago!
I love him. He was sitting at 15 on my list.
I have not seen any full games of Vanacker yet and loved this breakdown of him. I could be off but based on these clips I'm seeing a lot of Seth Jarvis in him. Can't wait to see more of him and O'Brien this year.
It's hard to find a proper comparable for him. I use JJ Peterka . And yeah, O'Brien is a gem, can't wait to watch him play next year.
Absolute beauty pick by Anaheim. He will fit perfect with their plethora of young offensive D men
Pretty good potential mentor in Gudas too, they play a similar style.
WELCOME TO ANAHEIM
Let's go Blackhawks!
He’s a Hab!
Bonne analyse. Je le prendrais au 5e rang
Merci ! C'est à ce rang qu'il figure sur ma liste : www.toutsurlehockey.com/tslh-espoirs/classement-repechage-lnh-2024-par-simon-st-l/
I'd love to see the Sabres trade down to pick him!
He wouldn't be much of a reach at 11. I have him ranked 12.
Found you only a few days ago but i’ve now seen all your videos and read your 23 and 24 rankings. You have instantly become one of my favourite scouts to read from. Your very mature approach to actually ranking what you see and not just ranking people where others do is very refreshing. You value a player's ability to actually play hockey and play effectively in their role. Your reasoning on Carlsson last year over Fantilli was something I also felt all year. I was always wondering why Fantilli just became “the clear #2 pick” when Leo to me was the better player. This year you’ve done it again with Silayev. Silayev might not be the flashy sexy pick for teams, but players like him are what you need come playoffs. I don’t understand how people think it is a bad thing that he “just has 11p in 63gp” in the KHL as a first pairing 17 year old. Do you think comparing Silayev to Sider is a bad idea? Both physically gifted defensemen who lacked good production vs men their draft years. A shame we can’t see Silayev play versus his own age group and see how he does there. I am not saying I think Silayev will be as good as Sider in a 2-way game but the comparison on draft day does make some sense to me. Very good article you’ve done and I look forward to anything else you make. Do you have a discord or something? Talking about prospects is something I always enjoy. Continuez à faire un excellent travail!
Wow ! Thanks for the comment, it truly means a lot to me. I do have Discord but I never use it. I downloaded it during Covid for some team project at the University but never really used it.

Incredible work this season, Simon. Thank you for all the comprehensive and insightful breakdowns. Each report was fun to watch. Enjoy the rest of Summer after the draft!
Thanks a lot for the support. I'm truly grateful for it. A few weeks off of hockey won't do any harm haha. I'll be able to enjoy loads of TV shows/movies and late night walk. Cheers !
I’m having the same problem. I gave up after Luchanko. I would love to see Simon’s full list. Can someone post it?

Having some issues with slow loading times and the page becoming unresponsive. Another user on a forum I frequent pointed out the same thing. Just FYI. I should also point out that the aforementioned user and myself also praised the quality of your work.
He is my grandson iam very proud of him
Awesome ! He's a fantastic hockey player.
Tell him Louie said welcome to Chicago! He’ll get to play with Nick Lardis too!
We are very excited to have him in Chicago!
I am thrilled, looking forward to seeing him play for the Chicago BlackHawks!
y'a l'air a chier
Thanks for another excellent video, Simon. This might be a bit of a far out comparison, but some of the ways he handles the puck reminds me of Peter Mahovlich. Similar big, gangly body with limbs going every which way, yet exhibiting great skill that is near impossible to defend because he seems to make things up in the spur of the moment. Peter was bigger than Sennecke, but the latter might put on another inch or two.
Thanks for the kind words ! I'm way too young for that haha
Idc what everyone keeps saying. They will say oh i dont want him top 5 and usually thats only because hes past 10 in some mock drafts. But thats because his rough start to the season in which he was just getting uae to hia new size! He finished the second half as easily the best forward out of anyone else and did it when it matters most in the playoffs! Hes going to be a beast! People will laugh at me but hes not far off from demidov and is alot bigger. I can see this kid hitting 80-100 pts! Anywhere passed top 7 and hes a real steal. If you actually went to his games in the end of the season and playoffs and watch him play a full game youl see how dominant he is! Look how bad this team was against london when he was injured and not playing

People saying hel be a steal? From what i see is a player that wont translate and will take alot of goaltending interference penalties lol.
If he goes second thats waaaaay over rated honestly.
Agree !
Future conn smythe winner right here
Damn this guy is so technically clean and confident. Definitely knows what he's doing compared to most prospects. Foundational tough-guy piece with a long career ahead of him. Top 15 pick for me.
I have him in a 25-30 range. I like his defense and physicality a lot. Sometimes he tends to force plays and his physicality could take him out of plays, but I think he can be a solid 3-4 D kinda guy.
I like him a lot.
I do too !
Are you going to do Anton Silayev?
I would have LOVE to. But I've been told that any content KHL-related are being flagged and removed from TH-cam. I do have 2200 words on him in my ranking tho, with some screenshot of game sequences to illustrate a few things.
You just made me fall in love with this player. The clips of him moving in advance to certain areas because of his processing were so impressive and then the selflessness to battle in front of the net with his big body. Seems like someone you win Cups with. Very excited to see what happens on draft night. A team might take him earlier than we expect.
Glad you liked the video ! That why I made them, to showcase lesser know player and to truly paint out their identity further than the general stuff we can read online. Trust me, you will LOVE the two last player that I will present ! Excited to hear your feedback.
If you look to his U20 season, he showed a lot of skills, beetween the leg, deke players and everything. He's really skilled. He gained 31 ranks to finish 18th on the final CSS ranking, wich is huge to rise so much in those ranks. The only problem, he bend too much forward when skating, his forward stride is too short, whitout forward stride he cannot reach full speed, can accelerate well but miss high speed. He's a legetimate end of first after this year ''big twenty'', a kind of Eriksson Ek type of player.
This must be the most easily projectable junior player I've seen. A great summer of working out and he could probably hop on as an NHL 4th line center without changing anything about the way he plays and nobody would be able to tell he's an 18 year old playing in his first pro game.
Love these. Thanks for putting in the work and sharing. Hopefully you'll get to Dickinson, I can't figure him out.
Thanks man ! I appreciate it ! Unfortunately, I don't think I'll have time for Dickinson. I have 3 videos left to do but I still have a lot of writing and translation for my Written Top 32 (both in French and English) and I still have approx. 30 games left to watch. Next 2 weeks are going to be a pain in the ass.
Great video as always, and this has helped me warm up to him. Looking at the footage here, his skating, passing and retrievals all make me feel like you're at least talking about a NHL defenseman, and the offensive upside will show whether that can be at a top 4 role or not. I do feel like Freij has suffered a bit with Wallenius being in the same draft, whenever people raise Wallenius it seems like Freij will always fall. Any thoughts on Wallenius for now, or do you have a video coming on him? I think I've seen somewhere either here or on Twitter that you will be publishing a ranking before the draft, do you have a date on when that will be posted? And do you think you have the time/ability to put out a video on Solberg before the draft? He's a prospect on the rise, so I'm quite interested in what he might be.
Thanks ! Yeah I expect Freij to represent a good Value-Pick when we'll look back at the draft, many years after. He's much better than Sahlin-Wallenius IMO. Way smarter with and without the puck. I'm aiming for June 17th-21th to release my ranking. I still have work to do writing-wise but I'm getting closer. As far as Solberg, after Miettinen, I'm making a video on him. So next saturday. I have an absurd amount of clips on him. 247 to be precise. It's going to be a fun video.
Another Great video, I love the Forsling Comparison. Sorry to bug you if he is not on your list but do you plan on covering John Mustard of the USHL?
Thanks ! Don't ever worry about bothering me with question, that's why I'm here ;) Unfortunately, I won't do Mustard. I only watched 7 games of him and he won't be in my top 32
@@SimonSt-L-Scouting I understand, He is in my top 32, can't wait to see the rest of your first round!
Another great scouting video thank you very much 🙏 I’m curious if you intend on doing one of Brunicke?
Thanks. Unfortunately, I don't have enough clips of him and probably won't have time either, but Spoiler-Alert, he is inside my top 32.
I’m having a hard time finding video of him too. I appreciate your spoiler alert that answers my question 😂
one other player I'm curious for your scouting prowess on: Parascak. Is he on your list of upcoming videos?
@@ozikoctavia8794 I won't make a video on him (only 3 left). Up until now I had him, kinda by default, at the tail-end of my Top 32 but I think I will drop him out. Smart and skilled but Skating is an issue and I think he plays soft. In the WHL he's really good near the net to either feed his teammates or try creative plays to beat the goaltender but there is no way in hell that he's gonna be able to sustain the physicality in this area at the NHL level.
@@SimonSt-L-ScoutingI understand that concern - did you every scout Wyatt Johnston before he was drafted/made it to the NHL?
Could be a real nice piece once day
This video made me warm up to him more. Every game I have watched him in I left disappointed because he kept getting beat by far worse skaters, or left them way more room than he needs to, because he's too lackadaisical when the puck is far away from him. That combined with him throwing caution to the wind and make so many high risk plays makes me think he doesn't mind losing, even in national team games, and that's a really tough character flaw for me to look past. But this video helped remind me that he has so many good qualities, so with some great coaching/mentoring I'm sure he can become a really successful NHL defenseman.
I feel like Connelly is this years Danila Yurov in the draft. The guy has top 10 talent but will fall to the late 1st or early second.
I get what you're saying, but I think their case are vastly different. So are the players. A guy in this year draft has had very similar statistic to Yurov in the last 2 years in Russia ; Igor Chernyshov.
