Thank you for taking me back to when I was 18, just left home shortly before this album came out. I was already into the Jam and the UK Punk music scene but All Mod Cons was exactly as you described, it was as if Weller was speaking to me in my language. I drove my housemates crazy playing it continually while I poured over the lyrics and the artwork. I remember hearing a guy in the pub talking to his friend about the album and how Weller was speaking to him and I felt like I'd been cheated on! I had a friend equally smitten and we used to compete to be the first to buy the Jam's next release, single or album. I got to see them live a few times, including 2 out of the 4 nights they did at Wembley on the 1982 farewell tour. Good to encounter a fellow fan who really gets it. Cheers

Society is/ was just too dull and thick and unappreciative. Same old story.
