Introducing the Metro-North Railroad Employee Tribute Locomotive
Metro-North's Employee Tribute Locomotive 214 is a vibrant celebration of our incredible employees' unwavering dedication and exceptional excellence over the past 40 years. This remarkable achievement features a mosaic composed of 2,000 individual employee photographs, representing Metro-North's East of Hudson lines. The mosaic includes the clock tower at White Plains station for the Harlem Line, a New York Cityscape for Grand Central, a view of the Hudson River from the Bear Mountain Bridge for the Hudson Line, and Bridgeport’s Black Rock Harbor Lighthouse for the New Haven Line. As a historical nod, one side of the locomotive features the old two-toned “M” logo of the MTA, while the other side uses the modern MTA logo.
“All the progress Metro-North has made since 1983 can be credited to the faces you see on this train,” said President Rinaldi. “When customers and rail enthusiasts see this employee tribute locomotive on the rails, I hope they use it as a reminder to thank Metro-North employees for the work they do every day to keep our system safe and our trains on the move.”
We especially want to express our deepest appreciation to our retirees, whose contributions have been instrumental in shaping our railroad. Your dedication laid the foundation for the success we celebrate today. Many of you contributed photos to this mosaic, and your presence is felt in every image that adorns this locomotive. Thank you for your invaluable contributions and for being a part of this tribute.

Maybrook Trailway is Now Open

On Jan. 4, 2021, Metro-North Railroad announced the opening of the Maybrook Trailway, a 23-mile segment of the 750-mile Empire State Trail that spans New York City to Canada and Albany to Buffalo. Built by Metro-North with $42 million in State funds, the trail runs through Dutchess and Putnam Counties.

As well as the fact, it followed the G-String Old Blue and Silver, which the distinct V on the front of the engine. Reminds me of the old Metro north scheme, bought back in a heritage, and the numbers and font match the old scheme

This is a beautiful paint scenes of the empire state MTA metro North railroad. I definitely wanna see the black penn central system black and white letters just like the older FL9S had.

Have to disagree with the narrator's comment that to be a conductor you don't need to have any specific skill ( 3:35). You need to be able to, at least, read and comprehend what you are reading, speak clearly, be able to perform basic math computations, and write on a high school level. For freight service, IIRC, you should have enough physical strength to lift a coupler knuckle.

Amazing i cant believe i hired out 40 years ago sep. 1983. Where the hell did time go? Good god the memories seeing what was compared to what it. Sadly a trip and fall in Hm Yard ended my dream conductor job with a disability from the railroad in 1997 but for my almost 15 years I cherished my job and was damn honored and proud to wear my blues walk the isles or sport the work boots jeans and work combo. I was honored to work with the best of the best with my brothers and sisters both conductors and engineers. The railroad was my 2nd family. Eddie barra
