Glad you got to experience that shane, you should have asked the tradies to cut one of the claws of the gate for a souvenir

They should build a ride here with Gremlins theming I think they should build a version of the giant drop but have it inside a dark tunnel so when you drop you aren’t actually seeing how high you are and have special effects inside the tunnel

All though it’s been there for over 7 years it’s probably only operated for 2 years being generous glad they are getting rid of it although it was fun when it was open maybe a Willy wonker boat ride dark ride through the chocolate river to replace it 🎉

On an episode of Rove back in 2004, people got rode the Claw naked. I had a seasonal job at Dreamworld at the time and when I went to work the next day The Claw was getting a deep clean. 😆

Why is it that these parks have gotten rid of (or are getting rid of) so many flat rides? Too old and too expensive to maintain? Not popular anymore? EDIT: Didn't realize this particular ride was getting replaced with a newer (and possibly better) version of the same thing.

Sad to see this ride go, and I’m not in Australia to ride one last time. This ride really kicked off my passion for theme parks and rides in Australia. I remember watching the construction live feed every day up until opening, where my mum made me a custom Claw t-shirt for opening day. It was the best day ever. I rode it almost 20 times that day, and the staff loved my shirt because there was no merch available yet. Looking forward to its bigger and better replacement!

Not the holden that shold have been a Ford the claw foot should be on top of the ford car instead of that poor holden station wagon car

The king claw is going to be 10× times bigger and fastests swing arm than the original claw in dreamworld

I loved this ride I had been on it but it was a very very long time ago and I had so much fun whilst on the ride.When I was on the ride I seen so many thongs and shoes that must have fallen off onto the roof of the shed from other people as well.What a piece of history that video was thanks a lot Jaggs for sharing great work mate.P.S. I hope you share too your very first ride on the King Claw as well.All the very BEST mate and take care.😃👍

I'm honestly so glad you got to be one of the last riders, Shane! This was also an extremely interesting BTS video, actually gave me a chuckle the fact that the dismantling started straight away 😂 This ride will hold such a special place in my memories and I'm sad to see it go. Rest in peace to the Claw, bring on King Claw!

I never want on the Claw I don't like those sorts of rides that make me dizzy but I walked past it so many years and I took a lot of videos and photos of it and I can't wait until I see king Claw I'm differently not going on that one but I will take photos and videos of it

Miss all the iconic rides Dream World had over the years. I still have a brand new Big 9 t-shirt in my wardrobe that I have never worn. Glad I have been on them all.

Ah man I remember when it first opened and the first riders had to ride it naked on Rove Live. I miss those days. Cant wait for the king claw though.

I have to say - are Intamin going to take any of the heat for this? That ride has basically never worked properly since day one. I don't understand how Intamin could deliver SUCH a lemon and to that degree.

i was there and i was on the shockwave while it started bucketing. My shoes were flooded with water from the puddles. still had so much fun tho frankly

I have a feeling they will put another swing ride like the claw but I really hope they make a scooby doo precinct or add another rollercoaster of some variety! Maybe another coaster similar to flight of the wicked witch! Im just not sure the area is big enough for another roller coaster. Also the kansa twister had a problem with the restraint on the orange track a couple weeks ago. The first 2 seats werent locking down into place. It had unscheduled maintenance the following day. I preferred the flight of the wicked witch! But the wait time is horrible on busy days! WE love the kansas twister!

Why was it removed? Did it have mechanical problems or no longer popular?

What Movieworld needs is another world class thrill coaster, they’ll have the dark ride nailed with Scooby Doo’s remodel. DW seems to be miles ahead right now and i’m expecting their next announcement to be an elite coaster. Steel Taipan is good but it doesn’t really compete with DC Rivals. Fingers crossed it’s an RMC or Intamin 🙏 Rivertown is amazing, Movieworld missed the mark with their lands theming.

Where do you take the CityCat in order to go to the Northshore Hamilton? i am planning to go there from Sunshine Coast by public transport.

Something either gremlins or mad max themed ! Hopefully a gremlins themed flat ride or a mad max themed Mack Xtreme Spinner to bolster the coaster lineup (IMO they should go for the flat ride since all GC parks are kinda lacking in the flat ride department right now) . even a gremlins themed dark ride would be amazing ! also gotta give full credit to maloneys coasters for the mack xtreme spinner idea

As somebody who’s spent most of his life visiting this park, It’s in dire need of some new Batman theming, A lot of people will hate me saying that but it’s still their strongest link, I’m all for new areas but yeah, the man’s legacy needs to be restored, and the Batmobiles need to be put back!

I think a good fit for this area would be a launched coaster with a bunch of inversions. Movie World doesn't really have a coaster with some good inversions ala Steel Taipan up the road at Dreamworld and something with a launch could take up a bit less space (since you don't need all that space for a long chain lift) Although a dark ride would also be nice, AFAIK no park in Australia has a proper dark ride anymore after the closure of Looney Tunes and Bermuda Triangle.

If they wanted a new thrill coaster they could use the space above the carnival area as well and inside where they used to do showcase it’s actually a massive area they have there if they use it well

It would be good to have a Mad Max dark ride, kind of like the one at Trans Studio Bali. Uses the system Transformers the ride uses, but Mad Max themed.

I went to the Gold Coast for the first time it was so much fun on the first day I went to movie world and went on all the rides and I was really happy to go on the scooby doo ride but it was close 😭

I would love to see the Great Movie Ride which was at Walt Disney World, or the Van Helsing's Factory ride and change the name to Mad Max and a themed post apocalyptic world outside with the Mad Max car, or maybe the Movie Park Studio Tour ride, which are both located at Movie Park Germany. When the German park opened they had the same layout and both rides and attractions were a carbon copy of the Australian park. The area where the Doomsday Destroyer was, it was in need of a long over due makeover and a second dark ride would be great to see.

I always found it weird hiw there was a dc villains section halfway accross the park from the rest of the dc rides at the front left od the park. As for going forward i would love to see another themed area, maybe a scooby doo area considering it is close to the spooky coaster and the popularity is there. They could add a scooby doo themed haunted house and a flat ride would be cool to see as well if they could fit one.
