2000 Xplorer 230 XLW
This is my 2000 Xplorer 230 XLW Class B Motorhome. She's in excellent condition and includes a multitude of very desirable and costly modifications.
Located Southern California. Just shy of 65,000 original miles.
If you are not familiar, Xplorers are a rare Class B RV - the company made a handful of these vans in the 80's thru 2005 and then went belly up.
This van is pretty rare amongst Xplorers as it was considered an electric unit - came with an inverter, a 2 way fridge and electric water heater that also used the engine heat on a recirculation line from the radiator. Propane only runs the furnace and the cooktop.
Xplorers generally have the dually rear wheels, the Helwig sway bar system and a rear airbag setup for stability. The rear of the van is 9" wider than the cab, as the body slopes out and enables an E-W sleeping arrangement.
Mods to this van include:
New Pioneer stereo with Apple CarPlay & 8" screen
New MaxxAir Deluxe ventilation fan
Two new LCD TV's with swivel mounts
Playstation 4
7 New Michelin LT tires (includes spare)
New Magnum 2800 Pure Sine Inverter with Advanced Remote and BMK system
400 Watt AM Solar system with Victron BlueSolar MPPT Controller with Bluetooth dongle
4, 125 AH Stark Power LiFEPO4 (Lithium) Group 31 Batteries
New 12v water pump
All interior lights LED
Two exterior lights LED
Magnetic knife rack
All new nickel cabinet pulls
New Oxygenics shower head with shutoff
Custom shelving
New LG High Efficiency Air Conditioner
Amp-L-Start to maintain chassis battery
Stripes removed and body buffed and waxed
$35,000

    I am confused. I thought the new assembly with the connections on it went between the valve on the main propane tank and the regulator on the propane tank so that you could connect your 20 lb tank or 30 lb tank as neededor whatever you got so that it would bypass the main tank and still feed the appliances in the RV Plus you can still connect your grill and whatever else. that's how mines hooked up

    Thanks for the video! It was nice and thorough and very helpful. Quick question you may not know the answer to. I've never bought any trailers before, so I'm not quite sure how this works. I've got a 2013 Chevy Cruze. I looked it up and I guess my max weight I can pull is 1000lbs. Would I be able to comfortably pull this trailer or should I look into something else? Thanks for any help you can give me!

    • @wincrasher2007
      @wincrasher2007 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it would be borderline - the trailer empty weights 800-900 lbs. If you traveled extremely light, you might make it OK on flat-lands. I think for any type of trailer, you might want to upgrade your Cruze to something like an Equinox or other small SUV.

      wincrasher2007 found some on ebay, just hard to do since the only options you have are to buy ones with xt60 plugs on the battery which limits your choices a lot or to manual strip the wires and swap them out which is difficult for someone who isn’t very educated in this field or how to do it myself like at all. thank you for the reply though, helped me out a lot. earned my sub :)!!

    Hi Wincrasher: I wasn't thinking of an Xplorer (I've been looking at newer models, or even converting my own), but the upgrades you've made are appealing. I haven't been able to find MPG data; what have you been getting with this? Thanks!

    • @wincrasher2007
      @wincrasher2007 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      these get 12-15 mpg depending on your driving style. Generally I run 60-65 on the interstate.

  • @cwsmith7366

    How many hours can you run the A/C off the inverter/battery bank at night? (Assuming a max. battery bank draw-down to 20%) Am I correct in assuming that the panels can support the A/C load during the day if pretty sunny? Please advise, and thanks.

    • @wincrasher2007
      @wincrasher2007 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I figure that the battery bank could run the AC for 3-4 hours. These are safe to run down to 10%. If you draw the pack down to 75-80%, recharging on solar in a single day is no problem. Here in California, I don't run the air conditioner much at all, so it's mostly microwave, coffee pot and the instant pot.

    • @cwsmith7366
      @cwsmith7366 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you sir. That sounds like a reasonable length of run time, especially for your environment.

    • @wincrasher2007
      @wincrasher2007 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm running a test right now. With the AC on the inverter, running 72 degrees in eco mode, I'm seeing shy of 60 amps (including the refrigerator) on the Magnum display. Once it starts to cycle, load should drop 1/3 to 1/2. We'll see how long it can go, but I suspect 6-7 hours might be doable.

    • @wincrasher2007
      @wincrasher2007 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      After 5 hours, the battery was at 78%. Very impressed with the results.

    Yeah, I did click show more first. A Queen bed is 60"x80". Are you suggesting that bed is more than 80" across? I'm 6'4" in my bare feet...I'm looking for a class B that I can stand in without bumping my head or having to sleep in the fetal position...but I don't think it exists...I was hoping on your wide body...

    • @wincrasher2007
      @wincrasher2007 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know of no vans that will accomodate 6'4" or more headroom, other than the Super High Roof Sprinters which are now out of production. Here's a link to the Xplorer Spec Sheet - it says interior height is 6' 1" and the width is 88". Like I said, I put a queen sheet on the bed - the topper I ordered was for a queen and I didn't cut it down except the notches for the rear corners. drive.google.com/file/d/0B-6s9vclxgXjMHN3Vjg4cmRMOFE/view

    • @David-rx2to
      @David-rx2to 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really wanted to find a turnkey solution but I guess I'm going to have to build out a cargo van. The high roof Ford Transits have 81.5" of vertical space in the back, so even with an inch or more of flooring and insulation, plus a couple inches of insulation on the ceiling, I should be good to go there without bumping my head. I'll have to have a front to back bed though, since the Transit is much more narrow than your van...wow..88" across! Too bad it wasn't a few inches taller, you made some very good mods...love the lithium battery setup. Good luck with the sale...you shouldn't have any problems.

  • @David-rx2to
    @David-rx2to 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Looks very nice...good upgrades...where is this van located? What is the standing height in the van? What is the width of the bed in back?

    • @wincrasher2007
      @wincrasher2007 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Click "show more" for more info. It's located in Southern California - near Temecula. Think the height is 6' 2" inside. The bed is bigger than a queen, but I use a queen sheet on it and it fits.
