The only thing I don’t like is he is stop vehicles that are stationary, there’s almost no point your not going to crash a stationary vehicle like that. If when they move and it’s still in their hand, then speak to them. But this is just dumb.
Problem is being stuck behind some idiot on their phone sitting at the lights. The lights change and the traffics gone and I’m still sitting there not moving because people can’t leave their phone alone. Then they look up see the traffics gone, they get through the light but because of the gap in traffic the light go back to red and I sit there for the next light cycle. Put the bloody phone down or put it in the boot if you can’t help yourself.
You know how many panic accelerating thinking its green light but it happens to be green arrow and they rear end car in front. One of videos i saw traffic bumper to bumper 2 lanes and lane next to him was moving a little bit and guy step on it but cars in his lane were still not moving...collected biker in front of him. It just says he wasnt aware of surroundings...
The act of holding a phone is not the problem - talking on a phone when driving is hand s free makes no difference to the concentration of the driver. holding a phone is no different than holding car keys or anything. The reason that the parliament wont ban phones from drivers is that the politicians use them more tan anybody else other than a 16 year old girl. This copper is a bit of a condescending wanker too- he's on his radio the whole time but that's ok cause he's better than you!
The irony of course is that in Australia where this was filmed, the Police themselves have full immunity from prosecution for using mobile phones while driving, even if it is not for any emergency or work related issue.
in the states the fines are a joke but if your a trucker its a felony and a 10,000 fine and liss of your CDL, ive been retired since 2014 so it may be different now in 2023 on fines
we do not have undercover police bikers here as far as I know, but do remember a case from the Far East, uniformed traffic control biker, pulled up to a biker in the traffic lights, just pulled the key out. The biker probably skipped some red traffic lights on the way. It was morning and he was likely going to school or work. It was bit of noise from the biker when I saw that happen.
The cop is a prick, he's supposed to indicate what is going on and have it clearly recording, this is why sometimes people win lawsuits against the police for falsely reporting and fining people when they have evidence against their claims. Cops need to have a) recording of the offense and b) a statement in recording clearly indicating what is being seen by the officer. These eliminate any potential false perception the cop might've had or any arguments against the cop made by the offenders.
Comment section acting like they don't also pull out their phone at a red light. As a doordash driver, this would give everyone trying to do their job a ticket. If you're actively moving in the car though, and the cop catches you, that's fair. But at red lights wtf is that
