    I hate to be the smart ass that has something negative to say but this is very important, to not damage your heater. If you are going to remove the connections at the heater posts, you MUST hold the heater posts from turning! Most heater posts will have a 1/4" hex underneath the wire or copper tabs. Some will be 5/16" In this video, he is holding the 3/4" nut that bolts the element to the manifold. That is unnecessary and totally incorrect! You need to make sure the heater post stays exactly in the position it already is in, or you will for sure damage the element! Hope this saves someone from ruining their heater!

    I've researched this a bit, and my understanding is over the course of a few years these will harden a bit but stay pretty pliable. If needs be, you can always retreat them too. I just did this to sdome rock ahrd GT750 carb manifolds and it worked well (with Rubber Renue, though same thing basically). Much better than the eBay scabs trying to get 400 for a set of three NOS ones!

    Not sure it was obvious but the cable in modern heating pads will have a wire meant to get hot and a wire to break it:-) The break it wire is there because people complained about loved ones burning to a crisp in house fires. I forget exactly how it works but it seems like maybe it is made of a material that breaks from repeated bending before the warming wire might break and begin arcing. It may also or may instead melt easily if there is a hot spot or act to signal a short. It may not be a bad idea but I think it may have been seen as an excuse to lower overall quality since fire is less of a danger or build in more planned obsolescence. In any case, my mom seems to have to buy herself one or two per winter which is why I've explored the guts. If you don't' mind burning down the house, it might not be difficult to spoof a working safety wire, haven't tried because I am pretty sure I don't like burning to death. However, the warming cable inside can potentially find new low voltage use where fire isn't an issue. I had trouble with my telescope optics freezing over so used calculated a reasonable length to use at 12V and now it just dews over:-) Seriously it did help most nights.

    wrong reference. you assume the table is parallel with the ways. clamp a vee block or a pair of 321's bolted together (ideally on a surface plate?) to the column, indicator fixed to the table. want a fraction of forward tilt to counteract cutting pressure... both X and Y. still want the column square so if the head has to be raised/lowered, its still right... even if it is a round column. then tram the spindle by indicating to one point on the table... pick a spot, and move the table so you always indicate to that point. then you know its square to the ways. each to their own, but i prefer scraping rather than shimming. as large a surface in contact as possible. and even then i tend to throw a bit of epoxy in any "permanent" joint.

      @daslab68 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks I dont want your money. I want YOU to try. If it is broken, then you cant make it any worse. My quick look showed me this below: Well, since snb means "sensor b" and is telling you that one of your sensors (the one plugged in to the connection marked "sensor b") is bad, I would say test the sensors. They are the 2 black nuts on each end of the heater, with the gray wires. Turn off power and switch them at the circuit board. If it then says sna, you have a bad sensor.

    Hi! I got a magnetic dipstick installed, but am somewhat concerned as i read on Amazon reviews that the little magnet tip can sometimes fall off. go to 16:50.. you can see that there is no OIL PUMP, but a slinger. the chances of a magnetic tip getting caught in that are very low (not zero) so I would think that you are ok. You could also try to ensure that the magnetic tip did not come off at all. Drill it with some wire?

    OK, I had this problem and mine was in worse shape. It wouldn't just go down by pulling it forward. Do NOT use a heat gun to alter the plastic, that is a dangerous idea! I simply ran the dryer for about 45 minutes on the highest heat setting then I bent the plastic back into the proper position with a small metal claw hammer. I believe that this video does show the value of THINKING before you act.

    I have one of those 120v dc treadmill motors as well. Its a fairly simple motor. You honestly dont need the encoder to control the speed. It is useful for feedback circuit but not necessary to drive the motor. You can use a sinple 120v DC pwm control to change the speeds. Not sure how easily it is to find that but its not that complex either. Basically you hook one side to +120v DC and the minus side you control with pwm through like a mosfet. Changing the length of the pwm will change the speed. If you are electronicly enclined you could build your own circuit pretty easily. But Im sure there are probably some off the shelf DC PWM controllers that will do exactly what you want if you search for them.. If you can get one that accepts the encoder it will have the added benefit that as you put load on the motor it will automatically increase the pwm to maintain the same speed which might be useful but may be harder to find. Good luck!

    • @daslab68
      @daslab68 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you All good points. On this particular board, if you dont plug in the encoder, and it is not sensing the feedback, it will come up with an error after about 20 seconds. You are 100% right about the PWM. I bought one off of Amazon for about 20 CAD. the problem with this is, that I have a hard time finding exactly which pin is the PWM signal. This is not a common board and I can not find a schematic for it. I have a scope. I did try it once. It turned but I ended up smoking the low ohm resistor that is in parallel with one of the relays. I believe that I will have to use this as a unit with all of the components. We will see!!!!

This model is known for having lint trapped inside the machine where it is impossible for every day people to get to. When we took ours apart there were LAYERS of lint. Sheets of the stuff. On top of that and the lint trap warping and not fitting properly this model really should have had a recall or better yet never been able to be sold in my opinion.

    Thank you for posting this. I am able to use a wide blade flathead screw driver to move the back screen enough to get the filter in.

    You should have drilled Out bOth of the hOles in order to gain the extra clearance that was required there, plus you also needed to clear out both threads in the bar too in the dovetail bar in order to remove the threads from the hOles as having two adjoining threaded holes one in the dovetail plus the one that you are screwing into means that you can not lock the two pieces together as the threads will not align properly, for when you thread the locking bolts through they will not engage and pull tight, that is a pretty basic fundamental mistake people whom have a lack of training & do not possess the required knowledge in the field of precision or basic mechanical engineering often make. Getting a job done correctly takes a gOOd deal of skill so to get things right the first time takes real skill.

    Mine is stuck flashing red at “high” heat setting. After 5 years of daily use, it finally gave out. I was hoping you can help me fix it 😅
