Great info. I was not doing number three. At all.
I've worried about this for a while and whether I should rename my podcast, for the time being I've added a subtitle - Subtext & Discourse | Art World Podcast - because the title itself doesn't give any indication what the show is about. The other reason I'm considering changing it, is because the name isn't easy to say... so I probably still need to work on it.
This was really insightful. Interesting to hear that promotion on other podcasts is still the best way to attract new listeners.
Would love to learn more about the GPTs you have set up. Where can I find that info?

As I see the whole US Podcast scene has the same issues as here in Germany. I really see a lot of well functioning Podcasts that get bored and feel the need to change or destroy their hard earned audience and downloads. I'm very certain that a lot of the numbers that we see in our Podcast statistics on Spotify or Apple don't reflect the real actual data. The metrics are not right. TH-cam on the other side is amazing on statistics and data, therefore you can optimize and improve your content. TH-cam gives you suggestions of subjects that even are relevant for you target audience. There is one thing that I tell all my clients about the download numbers and Subscriptions and everything: Don't look at the numbers at all for the first 6-12 months. Focus on good, engaging, charismatic content and propper marketing. That's it. If you're not in for the long run on podcasting, it doesnt make sense at all to start. No quick wins here. This video was super helpful! I loved the idea of a "category of 1" for a podcast-it's so important to stand out and be unique. I also never thought about how keeping listeners is just as crucial as gaining new ones. A catchy intro can really hook people in! Plus, collaborating with other podcasters makes so much sense for growth. Kevin!!! This is so helpful- loved this episode. I go between being the expert (as a licensed counselor and a mom of six who has learned how to make time for self-care, personal interests, and fun) but I also struggle at times with supermom syndrome so I tell my people that I struggle at times too with perfectionism, people-pleasing, and unrealistic expectations- the same thing I am helping them overcome. I love the idea of being simultaneous explorers with my audience, guiding them as we go on the journey together, learning how to hang up our supermom cape. I love this idea and think this will really help me to show up more authentic in my content. Thank you for making this episode!

Those resistant to niching down - this is for YOU. Radio is the 3rd oldest form of mass communication. That in mind, have you EVER had a radio station *NOT* stick to a specific genre? NOPE! Even in the 70’s with variety shows there was a genre maintained. Go deeper and more current. What do you think made XM radio so awesome? Well, aside from their accessibility. It that listeners “YOU” were provided with specific channels for what you like, what your mood is, and if others were in the car with you. I’ve been in various roles of marketing and promotion my entire life. My degree is in communication AND, I’ve been a lifelong student of communication. I love sharing helpful tidbits like this to help reframe mindset. Here’s one more. Millennials & Gen Z especially like, enjoy, purchase, and subscribe to things that are, or feel personalized & catered to their specific wants, needs, desires, interests, etc. Gen X are brand loyalists. We find what we like and never wain from it. Boomers have similar preferences mostly they like set it and forget it media. They like what they like. Hope this helps!
