This is just me riding my bike, hiking, and whitewater kayaking. Not that anyone else will ever want to watch this and if you do you probably shouldn't. I'm not particularly interesting or anything.
PFD Tallulah River Gorge. Training for 2nd time down.
The video from my first time down the Tallulah that I've been using to get me ready for not screwing everything up on my second time down.

Tracey has had a pneumonia and was itching to get out on a river. Been a long time since we've done the Chatooga. We paddled from Earl's Ford to Sandy's Ford.
Getting Destroyed Kayaking the Chattahoochee section 3 at 6.8 feet

My wife Tracey, friend Charlie, and myself bite off more than we can chew. Well, Charlie was able to make it all the way and even saved our boats! He's our hero! We thought the river was at 4 or 4.5 but it turns out the river had started to surge gotten to 6.8 feet by the time we got on. Next time we will exercise better judgement for sure!

😮😱👀 Holy Crap! that's beyond extreme kayaking. Thank god you all survived
Us too!
Dude plays a solid 'Squid game'
Lol, well said.
In way over your heads
We sure were
When I teach "Safety Afloat" I always ask the participants if they have ever had a scary or near death experience on he water. You qualify.
This is a "less is more situation" right?
Aww, man. I just saw all your NC750 videos (thinking about getting one), and I'm kinda sad you stopped blogging on it. You had my kind of humor. Hope someday you'll be back at it.
Dude, it was killing me... but it finally hit me who do you remind me of (the way you sound, and all the dorky jokes): Andy from The Office!! hahaha. Now I can sleep.
Lol, I love the bike. Lately I only seem to commute to work on it. Kayaking has taken over my life! I can see that. Andy or maybe Kevin lol
You better say a THANK YOU, GOD PRAYER everyday the rest of your life.
He had His chance. I figure if He didn't take it then I'm gonna live forever lol
Ridiculous. Preparation. EXPERIENCE!!!
Wasn't the level we were expecting.
I was going to do a lecture comment like the rest.... But then I remembered in May of 1974 I put my Ted Williams raft i bought from Sears into the upper copper River in Alaska and went out with the ice.... Also lucky to be alive 😊
Lol, most of us learn from experience, then forget how we learned apparently.
06:45 is where it starts to get interesting
Just the carnage for you then lol
Wow. Glad you had the camera batteries charged before this one. Thanks for sharing.
You are very welcome
bank to bank wasn't a clue?
Clueless!
tracy's boat floating past just when you needed it was lucky
It sure was! I just wish I could have held onto it.
I'll stick to my hot tub clinging to Bertie my rubber duck, thankyou very much! 🥰
Lol, sounds like a great plan honestly!
Thank you for sharing. Glad everyone got out safely.
Me too!
Why is she behind you? You keep looking back, which is kinda dangerous. That gave me anxiety. You're lucky you didn't all drown.
Looking back to check on her. Glad we didn't drown too :)
These lines in the video description are something to learn from as well: "Well, Charlie was able to make it all the way and even saved our boats! He's our hero!" Yikes. I'm sure you'd agree now that there are no heroes from this paddling day and that 'people over gear/boats' is the way to go. You're all fortunate to survive this one. Thanks for your honesty in your follow-up comments here in the chat. It's so clear that you used this as a major learning experience and took lots of steps after... Wishing you (and everyone here) the best for future fun and safe adventures on the water!!
Yes we did, we learned so much. Mostly of what not to do.
That was awesome! Not for yall obviously 😂 but thank u for sharing and glad everyone was ok
Lol, glad you enjoyed it
Dumb ways to die part 9699
Thankfully not! But it could have gone a different way.
Very lucky indeed! Never leave shore without a mobile phone in a protector, VHF radios to communicate.
Not sure about that. A lot of places we paddle don't even have cell service. But we are much smarter these days.
None of these people are too smart but the guy in the video yelling. Don’t let go! Grab a branch or something! Nerves are definitely a factor here but guy has to try and stay calm keep Tracy calm, and get them out alive. Good lord what a joke. Thanks for the educational video though.
That was one of the most retarded displays of seamanship I've ever seen in my life. Sorry buddy but put in your life in danger and the lives of the people that are going to have to come and save you is just pathetic. disgrace to boating.
Every time that happens that the nose dives down into the water you lose stability lmao
Definitely lost some stability!
That kayak is way too weighed down you definitely need to drop 40 to 80 lb out of that thing especially up front unless you want to go down worse the next time
Incorrect. I am actually underweight for that kayak.
why do people do this on such bad fast rapids/water? how is this fun?
It's super fun. I was not experienced enough to be on that river at that level at that time however.
What the hell were you thinking?! You're lucky you're not dead. Do you do other things in life like this? Just jump into dangerous stuff without a clue as to what you're doing? You're going to put other people at risk when they have to rescue you. Do us all a favor, go home and play video games. Forever.
This is intense
Yup!
Do you ever see whirlpools? when your kayaking
All the time. But mostly they are fairly small and pretty fun to play in.
you have to learn kayak roll
I knew how to roll back then, just not in that. Much better now :)
Very dangerous to be kayaking in those conditions not smart at all.
At the time, horrible idea. Nowadays, would be fine :)
Sick video
Appreciate it
Fuck that mess. I like nice slow water to stand and fish . That type of kayaking is not for me no more. Too worried about getting hurt and not being able to work
There is always inherent danger whitewater kayaking, but man it is fun!
Anyone who disses the bike is just basically a weekend biker who just wants to be seen. This is a bike for all year round, every day biking. Torquey engine and seemless gear changes. Great comfort and well balanced chassis. Good engine note. Loads of storage. Not a scooter. What's not to like? Brilliantly engineered bike that you can ride all day, every day.
Right you are!
That was stupid
Probably, but we learned a lot from it, so I guess there is that.
fck mate. Next time care more and be way more prepared. do not fuck with the elements.
If you are falling in , you should not have been there .
False lol
@@toekneegreen37 I kayaked for ten years .. I would not have fallen in because I would not have gotten in . I know it's just a misjudgement. But it could have cost you your life it you got wedged under the trees .
So why is this fun again?
It is so fun! Not this day so much, but every other day totally is a blast.
@@toekneegreen37 Thank you for sharing your experience, I'm an outdoors men due to my family upbring, but oblivious to rafting.

Thanks man!
Carry A zoleo, or similar device.. I pay for it monthly but use it a couple times a year. Still worth it, will never be stranded in vein. Hard lesson, but now you can teach.
That's what I was thinking. I have a Spot device for hiking, never thought to bring it kayaking.
How not to be.
Terrified? Appalled? Destroyed? All true!
Literally can't swim and has the grip strength of a greased rag but yeah let's throw you in a kayak in some red bull rapids.
HELLO, I SAW YOUR VIDEO AND I WAS DISTURBED BY IT, I HAVE EXPERIENCED A SIMILAR ACTION IN THE SINALOA RIVER, MEXICO, IT IS A VERY PLEASANT EXPERIENCE. GREETINGS.
Yes this one was less than pleasant. Thankfully they aren't so like this.
I was a trainee raft guide in Haiming, Austria 1996. We were encouraged to witness as many bad situations as possible. Our instructors would purposefully get us stuck in waves, take our paddles. Take our flip lines. One time i witnessed my friend Andrew get sucked into a hole and he didn’t resurface. I’ll never forget that feeling of seeing him go and because of the river flow we were getting further and further away from him. You feel utterly useless so i REALLY felt for you when you were on that island. *Andrew resurfaced 45seconds later 😅
They put raft through the ringer! Best to be prepared for anything though.
Its now September 2024 and would like to know if you still have the NC DCT and how you like it now. I own the 2024 version. Love it.
Still got it, commute to work nearly everyday on it. Absolutely love it! Best bike ever!
Fair play for posting this. Hopefully it will help educate future paddlers
Absolutely
Looks awesome and scary. Glad you guys are okay
Thanks, we are too!
Thanks for posting this very well may save somebodies life. You handled the comments with grace too. God bless.
Thank you, glad we all made it out ok.
Damn that was dangerous. Those bushes to the side can be very dangerous in flowing water. Cam get trapped.
Back then we didn't realize just how much danger we were in either.
@@toekneegreen37 glad you made it safely!
So much I want to say about this and all the mistakes that were made but I hope you learned valuable lessons from the experience and have since learned not just how to paddle better but how to read water levels and gaining beta to have a better idea if you think it’s something you can do or not
So much was learned this day.
Y'all should have done Section 4.
Have never done section 2 or 4. Probably never will.
