Wisconsin Places are cool!
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 26 ก.ย. 2021
Spreading the joy of cool places and events in the great state of Wisconsin! This is for educational purposes and dedicated to my high school students.
Washington Park, Olmsted designed, Band Shell, Lagoon, beautiful autumn day, Milwaukee, WI
Originally called West Park, Washington Park in Milwaukee was designed by Olmsted, Olmsted & Eliot beginning in 1891-92. Located just outside the city’s limits, the park was soon incorporated into the swiftly developing city. Olmsted had anticipated that the park would help attract new development to the area.
A series of circular roads and walkways looped through the 130-acre park’s rolling terrain. Olmsted’s pastoral design also included the strategic planting of thousands of trees and shrubs and an ample picnic area and a wooden gazebo for musical events. The design’s focal point was a seven-acre lagoon and aquatic garden. By the early 1900s, the park’s lagoon became Milwaukee’s most popular location for ice skating.
Other early additions to the park included a boathouse, a mile-long horse-racing track, grandstands, stables and a zoo. Later, basketball and tennis courts, aquatic facilities, playgrounds and other modern amenities were added.
In 2007, the Washington Park Urban Ecology Center opened a center in the park to serve neighborhood schools with its Neighborhood Environmental Education Project. One of the most historic parks in Milwaukee, Washington Park was added to the Wisconsin Historical Society Architecture and History Inventory in 2019. #olmsted #washingtonpark #milwaukee

Isn't that part of Milwaukee County Hospital?
@@Beonaire Yes, same system, good call!
The City of Milwaukee is run by a bunch of flunkies who haven't renovated so much as a doghouse, let alone a home. They will sell it to you for $400k and then fine you every month ad nauseum because you convert it into the Taj Mahal... and because you got such a "good deal". Milwaukee is a toilet because of the low-lifes that run it.
Beautiful ❤
I think that street you're on is Kilbourne. & south of it is Wells street where the infamous "SAFE HOUSE" BAR is located. I loved going to that place like I was Mati Hari, lol
Yes, very cool. I need to do a video of the Safe House!

Wow, that's cool!
Beautifully Gorgeous day in Wisconsin, I'm jealous😊
@@Beonaire We caught a good day that day!
Awesome magnificent video of the Washington park the music really sets up the theme I don't live too far from here don't forget to havenwoods urban state Forest especially while we still have fall.
I know I still need to get to Havenwood! Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for this beautiful video of this beautiful park, in a beautiful community! So many great peeps involved!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Красиво! Колонны такого цвета я вижу впервые. У нас в России тоже много таких зданий, только из белого камня.
Это очень интересно, спасибо, что поделились!
Love that music you're playing!
That picture must be from the 1950's?
Milwaukee, Wisconsin has some of the best architecture of buildings & homes in the entire world. I love walking down Prospect, Farwell, Downer & let us not forget beautiful Brady Street home of the infamous Glorioso's😊
You are right, Milwaukee architecture is amazing!
Kinnickinnic Ave going south takes you into the town of BayView where Bay View High School is. I've always loved Jones Island & the big ships coming into port to dock & be unloaded by Milwaukee's longshoremen😊
I need to do a video of Kinnickinnic Ave!
Right off 12th street heading south @ the corner of 12th street & Wisconsin Ave is Gesu Catholic Church. I used to go there for mass all the time years ago, lol😊
I might be wrong but your red car looks like a mini cooper. That is my number 1 top favorite car if it is that😊WOW!!!
@@Beonaire It is indeed! It is a Paceman which is a bit of a unicorn because they stopped producing that model in 2016.
Thank you so very much for this it's been years since I've seen beautiful state street. Back in the late 70's I went to see Al Jarreau perform @ the Milwaukee PAC downtown, it's now called Marcus PAC, we also saw EARTHA KITT perform there in 1978 in the theatrical performance of the play entitled "TIMBUKTU" it was a amazing performance by her and the entire cast.
@@Beonaire Great memories, thank you for sharing!
I’d like to move out that way from northern cook county
That looks amazing! I left Wisconsin 15 years ago and they just started on the new configuration and looks totally different.
It's a lot of concrete but once you get the hang of it the system moves pretty smoothly!
Hell yeah brother
Great place to walk and reflect!
Really cool place

Nice history
Thank you for watching!
There used to be a Pontiac dealership near there years ago. Foster Pontiac. Took my wifes car in for service once and walked over to the hotel for a couple drinks. Used to also be a rooming house with a large communal bathroom/shower area. Neat old art deco interior.
Those are great memories, thank you!
Used to like in the downtown Waukesha area and absolutely hated it. Trash people and horrible city leadership. Stay out if you enjoy being positive.
The downtown area has made a major resurrgence over the last decade. They took the gazebo out of the 5-points intersection and removed the one-way streets to make it much more accessible. They added some great cafes and restaurants, and the Fox River walking area is fantastic. I don't know when you were there last but I'm sorry you had bad experiences.
Milwaukee knows how to party!!!
I used to sit @ the top of this iconic hill & watch lake michigan this is my most favorite spot in Milwaukee, down the street is the famous "HOOLIGANS" bar and around the corner on Farwell is the infamous Ma Fischers restaurant. Milwaukee has so many fun places to visit. I loved living there. Just wish they hadn't gotten the lottery😵💫😭
Those are great memories! We have a cool video of Black Cat Alley in that area as well.
I love Milwaukee

Hi greetings from Colombia, great video, beautiful city. Milwaukee and Chicago are on my next vacation, I hope ❤
Thank you for watching! I have a friend who visited Columbia this summer and loved it!
@@wisconsinplacesarecool great, all invited to visit Colombia. Remember, Colombia is different than Columbia haha, maybe Americans write Columbia because the letter "u" is pronounced like an "o", I think, haha.

I liked the mellow mood
My favorite rock is Castle Rock near Castle Rock lake! We were allowed to climb it back in the 90’s before everyone sued everyone for everything! ✌️
Very cool!
Awesome!
I would be really interested in the train or pedestrian bridges… is there a Depot?
