I always felt like 'how bad' you beat a triple triad npc should increase the chance of a card dropping. You can beat an npc by up to 4 extra cards ( you need 5/9 to win, but its possible to win with 6, 7, 8 or all 9 catds your color )

I feel your pain. My own nemesis was Hokushin in Kugane. He only had a single drop, Yojimbo & Daigoro, and I swear I beat him over 100 times before he finally coughed it up.

When I was new I wasn't good. I got hit by snapshots often and basically did the opposite of whatever I was supposed to when sightreading mechanics. It bugged me. I wasn't happy with just getting a rez and clearing. I stopped everything I was doing to redo several trial and raid bosses when I clearly wasn't getting it. By the time I got to the current raid tier my efforts were rewarded because I became able to do a good job going in blind. I notice that amongst my peers I stand out by having a voice in my head beating myself up to do better. I think a lot of people are just fine with being dead weight and blaming the game for testing them on stuff they could have studied for and just didn't.
