It's so weird because one doesn't notice without having watched this scene that Pycelle wasn't an old stuttering fool and was actually playing a role all along.
Tywin takes house tully
Omg POLONIUS IS PLAYING STUPID TO SURVIVE ELSINORE
Pycelle has a crush on Tywin. It could have been interesting if they hinted at this here, even if it didn’t make the cur
A fascinating scene but you can absolutely see why it was cut. It's just peripheral and doesn't drive any storylines.
Target; MAXIMUM FIREPOWER!!
I love how he acting like old man to strong man but weaker in sense of allies
Wow.... I didn’t realise Pycelle was actually ACTUALLY pretending all the time. I took him for a fool.
I wish they would of kept this scene in the series. Very powerful!
Tywin Lanister is the most powerful character in game of thrones.
The fact that this scene isn't in the books proves two things : 1- D&D can actually write good dialogues 2- D&D decided, VOLUNTARILY, to write shitty episodes in seasons 7-8
This is what i loved most about Tywin. He sees through bullshit and isnt afraid to get his hands dirty. Saying he built the strongest House isnt all that hard when you have his mindset resources and charisma. I also love how he was sticking up for Tyrion here. Although sadly Tyrion never knew this
Back then, deleted scenes were better than most kept scenes from Season 7 onwards.
Why would they cut this.....
Wait are there more of those deleted scenes? 🤔 🤔 🤔
They should have left that in, i dont know what they were thinking with some great scenes left out, thats a great scene
1:26 *hp bar appears above pycelle's head*
This is from an alternate reality where GoT never got bad.
Tyrion and tywin hated but respected eachother
2:32 predicted his own death
Fish = metaphor for houae tully.
And if he'd stayed off the council he wouldn't have died in genuinely the most horrible way I can think of. Where his last act as a living man was to fight back small starving children before they swarmed and murdered him
In the Books he had his skull bashed in.
Why did they delete this?
Even the deleted scenes are fire
What I thought him a foul amazing
Fishes near the coast or harbor tend to feed on sewage from the city.... .....so........yuck
Pycelle shoud be on Arya list,or be execute by anyone who can kill him, first Jammie when he kill Mad King,he shoud kill and Pycelle also
1:12 this is when the character started overplaying the part, causing Tywin to be able to see through it.
Always wondered why in that scene where Pycelle is with the prostitute, one minute he's all dithering old man like he usually is and then the moment she leaves he's jumping around the place doing stretches like he's in his 20's, but you never see him like that again. Obviously this was the reveal for that, they just cut it. Typical dumb and dumber though, because the scene with the prostitute makes no sense without the context of this scene, so you just kind of go, well that was weird. So why not keep this one and cut the other? Maybe they hadn't filled their nakedness quota for that episode or something.
Lol Dude it’s kinda obvious he’s faking being an weak well-intentioned Old Man even without this scene.
For the most part, I don't like this series. It's too long, too drawn out, too complex, and too depressing for my taste, but there is no doubt that most of the cast is supremely talented. this is a superbly written scene between two excellent actors. It's too bad they didn't leave it in.
@Gloryclover Actually, History was one of my best subjects. Of course, there's a reason I have difficulty with long, complex story arc series like this, I have an extremely bad case of Attention Deficit Disorder, and that just makes it extremely hard for me to keep track of characters and story elements in a milieu that large. Note that I didn't say it was objectively bad, just that I did not especially care for it. The fact that it was depressing is an objective fact though, and I just don't find depressing things to be entertaining. I didn't like Battlestar Galactica for the same reason. That's just a matter of taste though. As it is, I watched the first four seasons of GOT. From what I understand, there is a broad consensus that the quality declined steadily in seasons five through eight, so I don't suppose I missed much.
A slightly longer pause to see the transformation from the fake to the real Pycelle would have served this scene well
It's a great scene. I can tell why it was removed, the scene doesn't put Tywin in a powerful position, it's all about appearances. I would say it's because of the entire composition of shots like this 1:21. Tywin is turned backwards in an awkward position, fishing like a regular person.
Which is a shame, since it adds another layer to Tywin's character
Actually the fishing is a powerful metaphor. He's fishing trout, the sigil of the Tullys who he is about to butcher with the Starks at the Red wedding.
Knew he was playing soft
How? Why? WHY WAS THIS SCENE DELETED WTF. FOR A SECOND THERE PYCELL LEGIT SEEMED COMPETENT AND IMPOSING
@Anjelica Snorcket yea i remember the scene when he stretched out and then pretended the weak shuffle walk he did.
So cool to see this side of Pycelle, the actor did great, and more of Dance’s Tywin is always a treat. I can see why the writers wanted to keep Pycelle more one-dimensional though, cinema just doesn’t have the liberties of print.
@Gloryclover then I guess have fun taking offense where none is meant and being rude to strangers online. It is much harder to show something than to imagine something written, is that so difficult to comprehend?
@@aylix2137 the only rude person I see here is you, he contradicted what you said ACCURATELY and then you threw a tantrum
@@LARA-sg4btno, he punctuated what was a normal and understandable response to my comment with an inappropriate and rude insult based on what he _thought_ I was saying. Just as you have made an incorrect assessment of what you assumed my state of mind to be as I wrote it. How is it that the obvious comparisons between those two mediums are so offensive to you two? I was making no jab at anything. If you want to reply, please present your points with out throwing in an insult, I try not to even respond to even well thought out comments that are so unpleasantly tainted. I was just so shocked that anyone would consider what I said offensive, but then again, it is 2021.
@@aylix2137 i didn’t consider nothing to be offensive
@@aylix2137 Put down your thesaurus and calm down man
I guess Im in the minority here but Im glad they cut this scene. Senile Pycelle helped the storyline move along more.
They didn't cut that Scene in the season 1 finale where he does a whole post coital exercise routine. Revealing that his at least faking his hunched posture ( and breaking his Vows of abstinence and to never remove his chain).
How could they cut this scene?
