I'm 16 years old, and I'm lucky to live on a subtropical island in south-east QLD, Australia. I take advantage of every chance I get to go fishing and being outdoors. I'll share how I catch things, what's out in the water, and other fun stuff I get up to in my backyard. Shout out to all the locals, I love this place! We're blessed 😊. James - Yawk Yawk.

Moreton Bay - 3 Lures to Catch Massive Pelagics
มุมมอง 6Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Today I was fishing just off Bribie Island (Brisbane) in fairly shallow water (Moreton Bay region) for large PELAGICS. I tried out 3 different lures with very similar results. Kingfish or AmberJack were caught on nearly every drop. I had to give up and go home, as i was tired, sore and sick of catching them. Use these methods and lures in SE QLD and you should easily be bagging out on these qua...

HIGH SPEED JIGGING and BAIT FISHING - Brisbane

In today's video. I took the longboat offshore to try and find some big fish, utilising a fast retrieve and metal slugs. After a few hours I moved to creating a large burley trail, cubing up a previously caught Tuna to bring the fish on!!!!!! But unfortunately had a massive problem trying to get the fish past the sharks. Also had 2 whales pop up right next to us while trolling in shallow water....

Awesome fishing mate , what is the boat you are fishing out of ?
Hey Jason, its a 6.7m longboat, thanks for watching
Where are you fishing in this video? Out the bottom of the passage?
yea southern passage, just along a drop off.
@YAWK_YAWK i reckon I've fished there 50 times and caught nothing. Probably need better bait. :)
@YAWK_YAWK keep up the good work I'm learning heaps from your videos. :)
@@markwhiting8259 Maybe not a bait issue. you could drop down your leader size. There are no secret spots. You should be able to catch fish the entire length of the passage.
@@markwhiting8259 Makes it all worth while hearing people are getting something from it!!!

@@YAWK_YAWK i often see my place on your videos
@@pbobindaahouse Let me know if you would like to cut it out of the vids next time.
@YAWK_YAWK no it's ok just reminds me how lucky we are to live here
@@pbobindaahouse We are very lucky. I wouldnt know what to do without my fishing and outdoors.
Slow Pitch Jigging is a sport fishing technique in which the angler uses a weighted artificial lure (jig) to catch predatory fish. It is a method that requires patience and precision, with a slow and rhythmic retrieve.
Good point!
Are you just drifting whilst doing this?
we find the bait, then set up the drift, or use the electric. Thanks for watching
What depth you fishing? I always find it hard to get the jigs down when they weigh less then 80 grams
in this vid, i was fishing in 10-30m. I find easy to get them down, even the small ones. How hvy is your main line?
We all know fishing can be tough sometimes but you didn’t end up with doughnuts. Good down to earth video. Have a good New Year, lets go 2025 🤙 Cheers mate
@snagabarra6232 thanks for everything!!!

@pbobindaahouse I use Windfinder PRO, and find it pretty good
@YAWK_YAWK thanks mate look foward to your next upload 👍 👌
@@pbobindaahouse thanks for the support
Great vid, wonder if you can create some content for how you actually find these spots. As a newbie watching videos like yours makes me think I must be fishing in a different moreton bay 😏
Thanks for watching. Ive found the more u fish the more consistent you get. Also fishing for the right fish at the right times of the year makes all the difference. I keep a logbook as such, and after years of adding data it tells me what should be moving in. There are no secret spots, the Bay is way too small.
Good work mate!
Thanks a lot! thanks for viewing
Just as an idea to improve, like maybe make small screenshots of the lures your using and the rods if you explain like what rod you are using ❤
Good advice mate, thats exactly what i will be doing in the next vid.
Sick video mate ❤
Legend!
Why did you throw the snappers back are they not good to eat?
Im out fishing a lot, so I only keep what the family can eat. Everything else get returned to the water. Snapper are good eating for sure.
Great vid mate, is this out past flinders, off Cape Moreton?
Thanks mate, yeah not far form there.
Epic opening to a Ep, great video man. My arms where hurting watching pull those Fish in 😂 Cheers for the time and effort making these videos 🙌💯👌🎣🎣🎣
Thanks heaps for watching, and im glad you liked it. Always trying to improve my videos so its great when people acknowledge those improvements and so on.
Go you Yes we're in Australia kg for kg I'm so sick of fisherman using Imperial F^%$3ng ounces and pounds PS Great Video :)
thanks heaps for watching, it makes stuff so much harder when Australian products have to use imperial systems or weird Japanese terms for like PE line.
What kind of boat have you got and length. Great fishing.
@tattooarttoday its a longboat, like you see in the pacific, that the locals use to net. Its 6.8m long, narrow and cheap to run. Super soft and safe ride.
Love your vid mate. Do you leave from Scarborough/Spinnaker?
@techventuring Fortunately enough I live on the water so I don't have to deal with the headaches of boat ramps. Both a great boat ramps though are you local?
@@YAWK_YAWK that's a win. I typically leave from Pelican/Scarborough. But with such limited windows to get out wide, I am always looking for the best/optimal ways to get 30-50km out. Are you out past the Venus banks, or further up near the North Banks?
That intro was awesome, how deep are you jigging these fish up from? Are you fishing inside the bay or off the cape? Sick video man. Subbed 👌
@AaronsFishing Thanks heaps for the sub, these fish where jigged in between 30 to 40m of water. looking at a map it says its in the bay but you could call it offshore awell, before the cape aswell.
That’s awesome to hear I’m not quite confident enough to get out the cape but on a good day I’ve fished the pearl channel a bit but I haven’t tried any jigging in there
@@AaronsFishing Plenty of fish in the bay as you know. The cape is fine to fish on a good day in a small boat, heaps of boats around if anything goes wrong. 😃
I just found your channel a month or so back Loving your uploads buddy I live on bribie good to see a local get some black hats with bright blue yawk yawk on it I'll buy one straight up
@pbobindaahouse thanks for watching. Great idea on the hats as well, might be something to look at in the near future.
Is that a southwind?
@juliandent86 Its a Goodwin, so same hull - just beefed up by Mr Goodwin. A great riding boat. Great vids by the way, i see u have a Stinger also, we had the 7.3m stinger a while back.
@YAWK_YAWK yea good boats the Goodwins. Very few and far between. I've got a southwind ub520
@@juliandent86 Yeah i don't see too many Goodwins up for sale. We have a 115hp on it, as its heavy for a lonboat. I would love a UB520, and easy to tow when i get my license.
nice video bro! what rod is that?? 🙏💪
also what weight jig head you using out there? ✌️
Thanks mate for the support, appreciate it. The Rod is just a cheap "Savage salt" 7ft and Saragossa 6000.
Hey mate I just use a 1oz jig head fishing in that depth, and just let it waft out the back
@@YAWK_YAWK Sweet as! Thanks for the reply😎
@@dunnoyet7215 no worries mate, hope to see u out there

That was a great vid mate Thanks
Thanks for the kind words
Nice mate how far from land where you? And what’s your decisive factors for heading out? Moon cycles?
Thanks mate. Only in between 10 and 20m of water. Yes moon cycles are great to pay attention to the new moon is normally the best full moon still good, but I can only go when I dont have too much school homework and weekends
Hi great video what is your boat have a great day
Hey mate thanks for watching. Its a Smart wave 3500 easily the best 3.5m boat you could buy. unfortunately i just sold it today due to wanting something bigger, already regretting my choices haha.
Hey man, I think I saw you about 2 weeks ago under the same bridge, I was the one in the black boat with me and someone else
Yeah i think i remember your boat! excellent to see you out there. How was the fishing?
not the best, we caught one Flatty on the sandbank near sandstone point and that’s all we got all day, then in the late arvo we went for a squid and got nothing sadly, still better than no fish though
@@Fishing_addict85 Yeah Bribie can be hard work. I just subbed to your channel. I know they are expensive, but a mic will make all the difference, great Videos anyway.
@@YAWK_YAWK thanks man more to come in the future, where can I get a mic for the hero 7 black
Nice video
Thanks for watching !!!
Just wondering what fishing rod and reel you were using?
6000 saragosa and a 10-15kg 7.2ft rod, thanks for watching
Awesome day non the less… do you ever cross over the passage bar? I havnt the balls yet lol
Nah, Dont need to go all the way down there. I fish the Northern bay mostly. And thanks heaps for sub, I appreciate it
