Glacier National Park Hiking
This is a day hike in the Two Medicine area of Glacier National Park. Two Medicine is located in the southeastern section of Glacier National Park, in the U.S. state of Montana. It has a campground alongside Two Medicine Lake. From the period starting in the late 1890s until the completion of the Going-to-the-Sun Road in 1932, Two Medicine was one of the most visited sections of the park.

We had originally planned to hike the all day Dawson-Pitamakan loop, but an inclement weather forecast nudged us instead towards the shorter hike to Upper Two Medicine Lake. This turned out to be a good decision because not only was Upper Two Medicine Lake a beautifully serene lunchtime destination, but we also avoided the rain later in the day after we had returned to the Two Medicine Campground.

I camped here and was in awe of the surroundings. Thank goodness it is not a National Park or the solitude would be gone. Thank you for resurrection of some great memories.
The 18 mile rugged access road certainly helps with the solitude, and similarly, thank goodness also for the adjacent Bridger Wilderness with 428,168 protected acres of spectacular roadless scenery.
We rent side by sides to the public in this area, as well as snowmobiles. The trail system goes right to the lake.
is there alot of free range cattle in the area?
I didn't see any cattle when we were there in August

I was there the last week of August. We backpacked up past the lakes and back around again. I posted a video of it as well. Your video is really nice.
Thanks Chad. We were in the area the same week as you. I enjoyed watching your video because we had considered visiting the Twin Lakes, but instead ended up just backpacking overnight to the upper Green River Lake.
@@apbutterfield I didn’t see any evidence of anybody being up at the Twin Lakes this year. I wonder if anybody had been up there all summer. Maybe some day hikers but there was no evidence of anybody camping. I regret not going up to the higher lake. It’s beautiful up there! I think next year I want to loop up and around the upper Green River lake and then come back down Porcupine Pass.
That sounds like a good plan: “Circle the Square(top)” I’ve heard it called. My parents took me on that same loop over Porcupine Pass in 1973 when I was closer in age to your kids today. It’s a good one!
Been there multiple times starting 1989. Recently, summer 2021, hiked to uppser end of upper lake.
