Are there any sites that have full hookup with either tree cover or a view or both? I saw some closer to the water are wide open with no tree cover at all (full hookup)
If I remember correctly, the only FHU sites are those in the open with a view of the water. All right lined up next to each other.
@@ourcabinonwheels Thanks. Still seems like a prime spot and the bus pickup is key. Looking forward to visiting summer '25
what was your favorite loop and site? which one would you say was less congested and more space in between the sites
We would have preferred to get a site on the water, but we booked too late for that.
This was a terrible review, didn’t show any of the amenities? The proximity to the beach & the bike path that leads directly into town??
I'm sorry you didn't like the video. For the Campground Tour videos, I show just the campground the amenities located within them.
I have been using a potato masher as a plunger. These off-grid videos show people aggressively agitating the laundry for several hard minutes. Like trying to get dried on food off dishes is hard unless you let the dishes soak, letting the clothes soak for a couple of hours means you really only have to stir the water every so often - don't need to get an aerobic workout.
Good idea!
I’m glad to learn this skill. This is very valuable!
By the way, I did enjoy the video!
Where is the dump station located?
I didn’t remember offhand, but searched for the map and saw that it’s just up the road from the bathhouse.
@@ourcabinonwheels Thanks!
I saw your camper in Williamsburg as you were getting off the interstate. Had to look you guys up. Very nice. The perfect size and no wood. We have a Casita and thinking about getting something bigger and wanted something that would last years.
We love our Alto! Let us know if you would like to see ours in person.
Where did you find that travel trailer?
We purchased it from the manufacturer, Safari Condo. It’s their Alto F2414 model. Safari Condo is based in Quebec, Canada.
I live in west Virginia and I wash clothes in a bucket with my hands an wring them out with my hands an hang them on the line to dry they git dry faster😊
I have a Lehman’s Amish hand washer and attached wringer and I enjoy using it very much, then a wonderful, umbrella style clothes line, it is like having a mental and physical therapy session!👍
Wow...🎉
Does it have air conditioning unit?
We opted for the Truma Aventa a/c unit. There is also an option to get the Dometic a/c. Neither is included in base price.
I tried one of these I thought the plunger with holes worked better. I felt like this one just pushes them against the bottom where the plunger would help them move and rub up against each other
I like the bathrooms the way they’re set up individual you control the door and the lock makes you feel a lot safer specially for women
I agree!
I think I came up with an improvement. Try putting some river rock in the squeeze out bucket. Add more if you have fewer clothes. The water can drain better and you'll get extra leverage - infinitely adjustable. If the buckets are really strong you can add more weight on top and let it sit a a while. How about spinning that bucket around and round? I don't think that will work because imagine doing that at high speed for 3 minutes straight?
It’s worth a try, if you have the energy!
Excellent system. Looks to me like you can squeeze out another half of the water that's left by using a spacer underneath and adding weights on top and letting it sit? Or - a simple contraption to use a lever to add force.
Use less method
As an Indian this is so funny to me 😂😂...tutorial for doing laundry by hand...we all have washing machines but we all still know how to wash clothes by hand...I mean we don't even think about it..these things are just taught to us by our elders...it's like learning to brush teeth
I grew up using a washing machine!
@@ourcabinonwheels Me too
Yes but do tell what is your system - is it better or not?
I did that back in the 70s.When I was going to college didn't have much money. The Bath tub came in handy And a good sturdy puncher and I dried my clothes up on a rope in my apartment. When the hangers, it's a good thing to know. Especially when your electricity goes out, you can't use your washers.
I like to know where she bought her plunger. I've never seen a plastic point that would certainly last longer than those rubber ones.
great system, for wrining clothes i have seen the yellow mop wringers which is a good idea too
Looks like a good system. The clothes are still kinda wet, though. I keep thinking of my salad spinner...
I've been searching for someone to show where the Electrical outlets are ? I use a CPAP at night and didn't see any outlets in the sleep area's
There is an electrical outlet under the counter on the passenger side of the camper. A second one in the overhead cabinet, also on the passenger side. There’s a third under the dinette at the front of the camper, a fourth just inside the entry door by the sink.
When i was visiting Samoa in South Pacific for two months i was taught how to do laundry by hand. Must pick a day without rain (difficult because it rains alot in the tropics). Take two/5 gallon buckets fill with water in morning and leave in hot sun for couple hours. When water is warm put in clothes and soap. Carry buckets into shower room and if your feet are like mine shoe size 10.5-11 you can stand barefoot in each bucket. Lean standing into wall and stomp both feet up and down to agitate clothing. Drain soapy water and replace with clear water and rinse soap residue. Wring out excess water and hang on clothes line. If rain looks likely be ready to take down washing and wait for sun to come out.
That’s another way to do it!
Small channel-great videos!
Thanks!
A tip for all bathhouses carry a plastic grocery bag with your towel and clean clothes ,soap, shampoo , etc. There is usually a hook to hang bag , put worn clothes on bench . When you get out towel dry and dress with clean clothes , put dirty clothes in bag keep towel around neck or carry . Don't forget flip flops or shower shoes !
Great tips! Thanks!
New follower! Thanks for sharing to us all.
what site number did you stay in?
Hi kingrafferty. I checked my records and we were on Site 8.
I used to help maintain this park. Very peaceful atmosphere throughout the entire park. The trails system is top level there, featuring a black diamond mountain bike trail and a waterfall. Great video. It really took me back there. Thank you.
I wish we'd have more time to explore the trails!
Im going Friday where is the water fall?
I’m going to try this !
Salad spinners are great to get most of water out
Great idea!
You’re cool, but this volume is so low!! 🚫👂 I can hear the blue jays better than you!
Sorry about that! The close-captioning may be helpful with this video.
Love your video. Where did you get the plunger ?
Hi Jackie. The link is in the bio--here it is again: amzn.to/3MPgkBZ. It looks different than the one in the video -- I think they changed the design from a plastic handle to metal.
Showing campsite numbers would have been a big help!
Sorry, meant to do that!
I watched a lot of these videos on the laundry buckets but yours had 3 extra things! The extra bucket with the one hole drain and the foam disc plus sitting on the bucket for less wringing. Love it!
Where did you get your shirt? Love it!
For a short time, I was an ambassador for Microfiber Wholesale. They sent me the shirt as part of my welcome package.
@@ourcabinonwheels thank you! Have a blessed day!!
Great campground tour! I was trying to figure out what was coming in and out of view periodically then it dawned on me. It was the brakes on the bicycle! The video was so smooth.
Yes! Sometimes I ride the campground loop and record using my GoPro.
Thats a nice place! Go to princess place preserve ! its right on the other side of i-95 from favor dykes..its prettier! thank me later!
We had planned on paddling over to Princess Place, but we ran out of time!
Would you please tell me where you purchased the drawer organizer that you have under the sink?
There are two different trays, both from IKEA. One of these www.ikea.com/us/en/p/uppdatera-flatware-tray-white-60494206/ and three of these www.ikea.com/us/en/p/uppdatera-utensil-tray-white-60491364/
Nice tour of the state park there. I do like that music as well. Thanks for sharing these views and info. Take care and safe travels out there.
Thank you.
Great video. We have done many of these to our F2414, can never see too many ideas
Thanks for the tour! We're looking at staying there this summer and it looks like a nice KOA. Going to book now!
Hi this is a great tour of the campground! We tend to stick to state and national campgrounds rather than private or resort camping and appreciate your tour of this one. How do you like your Safari Condo? Has it been reliable? Thank you.
Buck, we love our Alto. We've had it about 18 months--three extended trips (6 weeks or more) and no problems at all. We also prefer state and national park campgrounds. More tours to come!
@@ourcabinonwheels great news. My wife is so much more nervous than I am to travel long distances to find the right camper at the right price. I have been so impressed by Safari Condo’s light weight yet robust building techniques for years. We just completed our first trip of this season to Trap Pond State Park in Laurel, Delaware! I hope you get out soon and have a great season.
@Buck0seven, we were a little nervous about the logistics of buying a camper made in Canada, but it all worked out. I wrote a couple of blog posts about it that may help your wife feel more comfortable :) ourcabinonwheels.com/purchasing-a-safari-condo-alto/ and ourcabinonwheels.com/made-in-canada/
Great ideas for such a nice trailer, please keep documenting your travels.
Thank you! We're very happy with it.
Nice video, good ideas I have a GeoPro but these rv's are awesome. Maybe one day they will be easily available in North Carolina. Traveled to Quebec City a few years ago and had to stop in to see them in person .
We're very happy with our Alto!
Any feedback yet on whether you think the foil backed insulation will provide much benefit?
Hi Shannon. We haven't measured the temperatures, but it seems that the cabinets with the insulation don't get quite as hot.
Ok, thank you.@@ourcabinonwheels
Lots of great information thank you. Can Vic or you provide more information on replacing the sink? My wife and I are picking up a F2114 this spring and I want to see if the sink area is the same size so I could explore doing the same. I tried to find something on the web since you mentioned others have done this but I couldn't find anything with a quick search.
We got information from the files section of the Altoistes Facebook group. Are you a member? If not, I suggest joining. It's a help fun group of really nice folks.
Awesome thanks for sharing. Heading there soon. Just subscribed. 🔥🆙
Thanks for the sub! We loved Paynes Prairie. Be sure to visit the La Chua Trail. That was a highlight of our trip.
I have seen Chinese hand-worked, simple washing machines where you wash by rotating a handle on the lid. Has anybody experience with it?
I was thinking about off grid laundry and I thought of my o cedar mop with the spinner. Why can't we get a spinner with a foot pedal that fits over the bath tub, large enough to do laundry? It would be hands free since you are using the foot pedal to get the process spinning. the spinner basket should lower into the detergent water filled tub to be able to agitate the clothes and it should be able to raise out of the water enough to spin to throw the water off. then use the shower nozzle or hose to rinse the clothes, then spin again to drain off the excess water. You would be able to see when your clothes are clean and clear of dirt or detergent rather than trust your electric washing machine. I would add a wringer also just to ensure the water is just drained off completely. I don't think this has been invented yet. Maybe you and your husband can invent it. All the off grid and tiny home families would buy it, as well as apartment dwellers who have to lug their laundry to a laundromat.
instead we uses the wringer for the big mop buckets - industrial yellow kind - not as good as the wringer for clothes but it works in a pinch to get more water out
