Tim Goes Metal
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 21 ต.ค. 2024
Hey all! Welcome to my new metal reaction channel! My original reaction channel is over here at @TimWelchVocalStudio
I've been a voice teacher for the last 24 years and I can break down any sound anyone makes. I love interesting dynamic vocals and I'm beyond excited to have this new channel exclusively dedicated to that.
I will be accepting reccomendations for all sub-genres of metal, heavy metal, metal-core, progressive metal, hard rock, and all things similar. I want dynamic performances and vocalists! I like metal but I haven't been listening to it very much over the last few years and I'm excited for you all to take me on a journey through the great things I need to hear.
Thanks for joining me on this new adventure! Subscribe and stay up to date. More to come!

My first reaction on this new metal channel!! What a beautiful first song to kick things off with. I’m a big fan of Sleep Token, definitely more to come from them. Find my main reaction channel over here, thanks for commenting and subscribing. I really appreciate recommendations of next songs to react to. @TimWelchVocalStudio www.Patreon.com/TimWelchVocalStudio www.TimWelchMusic.com
Oss! Love that you train BJJ too :) thanks for the analysis! More pleaseeeee! Seeing them live is otherworldly.
Deliverance . The music, the vocals, and especially the story behind it. Words cannot speak.
Anyone that understands and appreciates technical music says the same thing. Interesting chord progression.
If you haven't listened to 'Between the buried and me' I would definitely recommend to check out White Walls for their most popular album Colors (from 2007). Has plenty of growling and some clean singing singing in there. (There should be a great live video on TH-cam) If you want to compare the same vocalist with their newest album Colors II (2021) then I would recommend "The future is behind us" & "Turbulent" (the tracks fade into each other) since those shows the most vocal range 😇
This is studio audio laid on a live video so the layers are him. They do have genuine live videos out there. Their video of their song Viking which showcases more of his lows is also a studio cut laid over a live video. It's more obvious there because it shows him meeting with fans as well. BTW I developed a playlist targeting modern vocal production. I would like you to watch at least some of it. Not react to it just watch it and consider it research. I think it will dispel some of the myths about pitch correction in modern production that you have expressed. Take note of the tools they use, what tools they don't use, why they don't use those tools, the reason they do what they do and what they do and don't do in the process. Also take note of just how high above and beyond the line of good/bad performance that they operate. You don't have to understand the entire process just those things will do. That way I'm not just asking you to take my word for these things. th-cam.com/play/PLhlYsqoR9XLFfWdcun3IM6RKn1FYya8Su.html
I will summon hate here, but I think you should not react to the onetake of demolisher. Alex high screams have improved significantly, but he absolutely butchered the breakdown in the recent take. Couldn't hit the deep vocals, missed the timing. Alex was even lower earlier before the breakdown in the demolisher onetake. But before keyboard warriors who never screamed in their life fire away: This can be pretty normal while learning blistering high screams. You have to shift so much in your throat and mouth between high and low and when you are not 100% used to it, you may not find the correct "configuration" to get deep when you currently most concentrate on high screams. And Alex IS still learning high screams, even when he is on an incredible level overall with his guterals. What the onetake from demolisher is good for is to see/hear how much Alex uses tunnel screams or other pockets/chambers he somehow creates. Could be he has a natural advantage somehow, but there is also so much technique and training. (Also he uses less voice effects in the demolisher one take which I like because it is more easy to judge what he does and what the effect processor does, but it also sounds more "normal" than the blown up studio version.) For the screams that sound like 2 voices: Alex can do these. The demolisher scream is like this. The screams later in the song are two seperate recordings. Even Alex cannot do to long parts with multiple screaming layers at once, because this uses horrible amounts of air and can fuck up your voice pretty bad since you scream with things in your throat or nose additionally that are not meant to be used to scream. It is also a masterpiece to see where they place such screams and how the songs are arranged for him to warm up before and have a short break after. I personally would recommend Viiking and the onetake of it. Both are incredible.
Dude she sounds even deeper live
Alex is honestly kind of a shit lyricist when it comes to English. I cant speak to how well the Russian lyrics work but the fact that he makes those lyrics sound as good and natural as he does is a testament to what an amazing vocalist he is.
at the gates slaughter of the soul th-cam.com/video/TSTushCd_qw/w-d-xo.html do it
So glad you enjoyed Opeth. They're one of the most versatile heavy bands of the last 25 years. Their recent albums have delved into a progressive rock/folky/jazzy exploration of heavy music but returned to their black/death roots on their latest release. You'll always get beautiful melancholy from Opeth with redolent, gorgeous melodies, combined with brutal, dark progessions and complex compositions. A wonderful, wonderful band, I hope you try some more.
2:01 that chord change is my childhood, belive it or not.
Leah Sherman, a professor in psychology from the University of Queensland linked listening to heavy metal to subconscious anger management.
Biote - bioidentical hormone pellets are the best all-natural test treatment imo. They brought me from ~300ng/d to wherever I felt best (usually around 1000ng/d) It’s worth reading into it.
Hey mate, you gotta react to any "Andre Matos" band (RIP Maestro). I suggest -- Shaman - Fairy Tale -- (Cheers from Brazil)
Chilling, driving, walking, sleeping it’s good for everything (except when my nana is in the car, she is not a fan) 😂
I have a wild upbringing Suuuper up paced and active so in todays society i feel like im running and everyone else is walking This music and high paced rap like tech nine has my tempo i cannot find time or place to listen to lets say modern pop uh oh gawd idk name anyone similar to taylor swift there ya go Omg i dont even know their names lol So driving working playing video games taking a shower Even droppin a poo im listening to savage music
I HIGHLY recommend you go and listen to Whitechapel if you want to hear some of their older stuff This is Exile is a fantastic album and I recommend Possession off that album, but if you want something modern I recommend A Visceral Retch or When A Demon Defiles A Witch (As a whole The Valley is probably their best written album thematically)
I use to sleep to this type of metal. Every single night.
If you really hadn't heard Opeth before, holy shit are you in for a big treat
You really don't need to apologize for rewinding a little bit during the analysis part because we already saw your reaction to the song so all you're doing when taking it back a step is just more analyzing and explication which is why a lot of us are watching this video in the first place. A least for me because I want to be able to scream like this someday. And I listen to this kind of music at work with customer's in the store
Down the rabbit hole we go!
JEFF was HERE ♓
Try their song Missing Limbs. It’s just Vessel and his guitar. It’s beautiful 🥹
Listen to chapter 1, 3, and 6 the best of new Opeth, also Moonlapse Vertigo and When
JinJer, Pariennial live in Wacken (pronounced Vaa Ken) 🤔 enjoy 😎
Hey Tim! I grew up on Korn, Slipknot, System of a Down, Sevendust, etc. As I got older, my taste got heavier and meatier. I dabble with other genres, but if you saw my Apple Music Yearly review, you would understand.
So... you say you teach metal vocal techniques 😉
Don't quit your day job.
Most recently she joined Spiritbox onstage for Circle with Me and she huts this gnarly low guttural toward the end. Check out some live footage. Perennial live from Wacken is a good one.
The best!!! ❤
since it's close to Christmas please check out Alex Terribles cove of this classic: th-cam.com/video/VPOBhlX3ads/w-d-xo.htmlsi=hfMFTI2kuayVqRK5
Most people who know me think I'm chill af, I'm chill because this music calms me down..
Incredible band, blows your mind with the level of playing and composition, who does this?
Appreciate this video as it's good breakdown of everything, which i respect, as it's what i was looking for ultimately. However, i do think you should look into the live aspects of this band before you come to a decision vocally. (Since I've seen a lot of debate in the comments etc)
please react to travis ryan of cattle decapitation. that man has like 5 different vocal styles he uses in just about each song, killer stuff
You should listen at the deliverance performance from the dvd!
You can check Slipknot, it's well known in the metal scene. Also Lorna Shore, Will vocals are really good
Opeth is far beyond metal. It's way more complex on so many levels.
I'd love to see you check out Tomi Joutsen of Amrophis. Maybe check out "The Smoke" from the Rock Hard Festival 2024 vid.
Hello there im just listening to stuff like this at the morning while i drive to work and then back home ^^ helps me calm my mind. and at party with my friends (90% of them listen the same shit)
Any Opeth.
You're killer brother. Lots of "fake musicians" on YT that do reactions. You seem to genuinely enjoy music and, bonus, know what you're talking about. Cheers!
Man. Such a fantastic talented group of old dudes. Also. Fantastic live performers. 🤌
I suggest songs Reverie/Harlequin Forest & Bleak.
Вот Саня выдает, как только его связки выдерживают.
next: To The Hellfire by Lorna Shore! i would subs!! 🔥🔥🔥
Just shot it! 🤘🏼🔥
8:42 onwards - watching a mere mortal experience Mikael's growls for the first time is transcendent xD
8:55 the first Opeth metal face of many for brother Tim.
An Opeth metal face is a combination of a normal metal face and "holy shit this is world class music". ......I'll quit replying to myself now, Sorry
Please do a reaction to Will Ramos of Lorna Shore doing a one take vocal performance
Coming later today/tomorrow!
