    Hey, I'm the creator of Page Assist. This is a really cool video! Thank you for the amazing feedback :) For internet search, it is currently not fully stable. In order to get more accurate results, you need to turn off the Simple Search mode, but it will be slower compared to Fast Search mode.

    I see many people still coming to this video, but sadly, it no longer works in the Ubuntu versions. New installer doesn't offer creating encrypted btrfs (except Kubuntu one theoretucally, because it just bugs out), so I guess the best we can do here encrpted ext4 and timeshift. Maybe Linux Mint has something on that though (it's technically still Ubuntu, right?). But solution presented here, doesn't work anymore...

    I watched some of your videos and noticed that you are using Arch which could be the very reason why you are having problems. Arch is not very stable and I would not recommend it to anyone who wants to run Linux as their full time OS or for new users coming over from Windows. It's more for people who are just testing or want the latest bleeding edge software. It's not suitable for everyday use. I think you picked the wrong Linux. Arch is not the one to go to. You would be much better off trying a Debian or Ubuntu based distro like Linux Mint, Ubuntu or Debian. I am an ex-Windows user and I now use both Linux Mint and Debian and I have not had any problems at all. I am running Debian on 2 new laptops I bought a year ago that come with Windows 11 which I removed. My other 2 laptops are older but used to have Windows 8.1 but now run Linux Mint on one and Debian on the other. You should give Linux Mint a try. Chances are your drivers will work as Mint has better support for both older and new laptops. It's also very user friendly, unlike Arch which from what I heard is not.

    • @laniusdev
      @laniusdev 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Personally I had very little stability problems, and ironically - as I mentioned in some of my videos - the most of stability issues I got were on... Ubuntu. And in the end it's not the stability (which in my opinion isn't bad at all, even in rolling distributions like Arch-based ones) that led me away from using Linux as my main system, but software availability / compatibility as at some point I found myself needing to use Windows.

    • @laniusdev
      @laniusdev 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not anymore, but I don't remember when I switched. Although it was only due to distro-hopping sickness, as I never had any problems with Endeavour. I later came back to Arch-based, but Arcolinux that time. Anyway, I'd still recommend Endeavour.

    The way you talk makes this video a bit hard to listen to, because of the many breaks you take mid-sentence. Maybe this could be improved by making a rough script and/or talking through it in your head before recording. I'm quite interested in your opinion but the technicalities make it tough to concentrate throughout the entire video.

      Well, I totally see the reason to use Linux, even though it has its pitfalls. I just wanted my hardware to work like 100% of the time and have support for some services I use or I wanted to use. Other than that I had zero issues running Linux.

    BTW, at first the repo wasn't unprivated, but now it is: github.com/wmwnuk/ollama-chat Also, a note: you probably shouldn't use this project for anything, as there are some solid options suggested on official Ollama GitHub: github.com/jmorganca/ollama#web--desktop This one is just a proof of concept, and the code is bad. And I've already made a better one, maybe I'll put it up on GitHub soon.

    I will be making an updated video on this. Flutter installer is sadly useless when it comes to creating such setup, BUT Kubuntu uses different one (it looks and works awfully lot like Calamares, but is called ubiquity... and it seems it's not the most straightforward setup either, but it works). So, a little sketchy. Other option would be to manually create partitions and debootstrap the system onto it, like 'the Arch-way', but I'm not entirely sure if you'd want that (Ubuntu is suppossed to be easy to install, at this point you might just opt for Debian, but maybe I'll make such video as well - provided I'll confirm it actually works). EDIT: Okay, Kubuntu installer shits itself, so debootstrap seems to be the only hope.

    Most people will run it with a desktop. Works better than I expected and the two reservations I have about it is first, some repos don’t point correctly to the devel branch - I don’t know why, its just a warning and doesn’t affect anything and hopefully the developers will come out with a fix for the issue and the second is the Pacstall package manager doesn’t have a lot of packages and I think here is a case of fixing a problem that doesn’t need to be fixed since Nala and Synaptic/Muon package manager will pull in thousands of packages that are already present in Ubuntu itself for whatever application you might want on your system. As a set and forget it Ubuntu version of Arch, it means you never have to upgrade from LTS point version to LTS point version like in mainstream Ubtuntu. For many people, that kind of makes life easier having the stability of Ubuntu with the ability to stay current like you to do on Arch. The flavour needs a lot more work before it can be accepted as an official flavour of the Ubuntu community but the essentials are already here, it just needs to get to where it needs to be and that will take time. On the whole, I really like it.

    • @laniusdev
      @laniusdev ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, it's really nice. Pacstall really lacks packages, but it is nice if you want to build something yourself and have corresponding deb package as pacstripts are pretty easy to create. The apt warnings are expected as far as I know, as we point to devel release, but the actual release name repo returns is the release name of whatever is currently in development. So, it's safe to ignore and cannot really be fixed.
