And what about the annoyed body language of the reporter? Especially in the beginning. That does not invite an open conversation as well.

I’ve read that Anne Hathaway is a terror to work with and she’s rude to most people that she views are beneath her.

This isn't rude. She is not belittling or condescending either. She doesn't care to answer some questions or be a performative puppet. This may be uncomfortable but she can word things and be open and warm and inviting too that might encourage answers differently.

Guys we put too much pressure on these celebrities to be perky and nice but they’re also human and yes that was probably not nice for the interviewer but we’ve all been in Anne’s position before where we were rude so let’s not ridicule her for this one moment , She’s actually a really nice lady from most of the things I’ve seen about her .

She was definitely steely Rude and trying to be! As somebody that was lucky enough to get breaks in Hollywood, you would think k that she could give the reporter a break. All she had to do was answer a couple questions or say “ ya know , I’ve had a terrible day, here’s my agents number, can you reschedule? Instead she chose to be mean. I understand she apologized. I just wonder if no- one had ever said or heard about this, would she have apologized?

Definitely rude, as a journalist you have pressure to return a great interview. She gave her absolutely nothing!

Sure she's maybe a bit cold but also those questions are cringy as hell. Why on earth would someone ask if she remembers her first crush? Anne is playing a character with such pain and depth. It's about so much more than love and crushes. Also asking her to sing??? No. Just because it's a musical doesn't mean people want to sing. The fact that Annie apologized shows her character of going above and beyond because she did NOT Need to apologize for this IMO. If you're going to interview for one of the most beloved and powerful musicals in history, do the work and have some profound questions. These were awful.

To be honest all three questions sucked. Not interesting at all.

She was in seriously heartbreaking soul searching play/movie. She wasn’t rude the interviewer just asked some really stupid A$$ questions. That movie and play wasn’t a freaking move story. She starved herself for the roll and cut her hair off. That’s the lamest questioning ever. She wasn’t rude she was curt.

I don’t take her as rude, I take it that there’s more to this story. Anne may have been forced to be there, she may have just had something really bad happen personally, etc. I see myself in her here. It’s not rude it’s just matter of fact in the most straight forward but polite way. Clearly Anne is visibly unhappy. So we don’t know the whole story.

The photo of the animal professors wasn’t an Easter egg…it got a whole dedicated shot for intentionally foreshadowing 😭

It was very in style to give shitty interviews during this time and kind of call them out for the bad questions. Not justifying. But all of the actresses were doing it, and were applauded for it.

Annie was fine. She didn’t do anything wrong.
