So sorry that you had such a long delay on your train! It's very common on Amtrak, since the same train tracks are all shared with slower freight trains, but it's still unfortunate. Gladly, you were able to catch your flight! I've never taken an overnight Amtrak train, although I have taken shorter trips to nearby cities. You're right that it's no less expensive than an airplane ticket. My goal is to someday book a long autumn trip, so that I can watch the changing fall leaves from the observation car! I'm so glad your experience was positive except for the delay. The scenery on that route especially is spectacular. Little Tokyo was walking distance to Los Angeles Union Station (As well Olvera Street's Mexican founding locale and Chinatown, too).

I learned how to make moonskin mooncakes! I was only able to find a combined rice flour, next if I can find glutinous rice flour only, I want to make mochi. The desserts look nice, & the view of all the hot air balloons was great!

That is odd about Ayasofia as a mosque charging admission next year, it made more sense back when it was a museum (you also had to buy an entry ticket back then). I liked watching the fishermen catch horse mackerel off of Galata Bridge, then immediately selling them to the restaurants below. So fresh! The funny thing about inflation in Turkey is that it's been happening dramatically for a very long time. It was so severe that about 20 years ago, the old lira had to be discontinued, and new currency issued with six zeros removed from the end!
