The problem isn’t just porn actresses - athletes making 10s of millions of dollars a year to play kids’ games is just as bad if not worse. By comparison, If you win the Nobel Prize in medicine, it pays ONE million dollars and it’s almost always split 3 ways. And then people whine and cry about why we haven’t cured Alzheimer’s or cancer given ALL the money we’ve spent! They always get interested in medical research when they or a loved one gets one of these diseases. You get what you value and pay for.

I was in my second semester of my teaching education program at college last semester (equivalent to the spring of junior year for traditional students) and after failing one of my observations, I decided teaching wasn't for me. It's really hard, but videos like these do make me feel some relief (for me, not for the teachers). I wish you the best.

I feel like there is more to this story. How many years of experience do/did you have? Did you ever work in another district? Did you have a mentor? Were you lateral entry? What were their specific complaints re: your teaching? Were you meeting with your PLC? Were you adhering to school policy? Teachers aren't just let go for not printing up certificates. Also, required trainings are part of the gig.

Valid complaints about what it is like to work in a public school these days. Obviously, I don't know this guy's situation, but I have to wonder if he is evading some of his own responsibility. When your employer puts you on an improvement plan, it's usually a sign that they've pretty much decided to fire you, and just need to cover their butts legally. The draconian conditions in this poster's improvement plan tell me that the school wanted him to quit. I'm wondering why.

Nope. I taught for 1 year in k-12 and that was about all I could take. They didn’t enforce it, but they really didn’t like the sitting at our desks for even a few minutes, and that kind of irked me.

I was let go from a charter school on my last teaching job. The students, parent's, teachers and administration were TERRIBLE. I'm going into a teaching fellowship elsewhere. Good luck, just don't come to Las Vegas.

My guy, you don’t get to teach what you want to teach. Adhere to the expectations, work hard, and take responsibility. Reflect on what you can change when you get your next job. I’ll admit, teaching is a very difficult job.

Most people around the world have to suffer at work and bite their lip. I worked part-time for the sake of my family and I didn't enjoy the schools. I did like the little children. I decided to stop taking the recertification classes dumped on me as I didn't learn a thing from them and they were not improving my teaching. The teachers taught us in little children's voices and treated us like children. I subbed too. One day, I remembered that I got honors and was tested as very creative and I took my creativity and put that first. I dressed well, did my hair like I was a sixties Ronnette and paid for courses I liked and wanted. The little elementary boys winked at me and I winked back and then I took my coursework to a very well-dressed and wealthy male principal from out-of-state. He was impressed with my numerous online courses at the local college and the math classes at the university - which the other teachers were not. And he signed off on them. He offered me a full-time job, but I wanted part-time, so I didn't get the job. I got by and never used all that course work. I would say that teaching can now be dangerous too and school can be dangerous for the kids too. I enjoyed my risking it and I worked hard and educated myself. Work is work. I can't waitress or do retail and I tested high in computer programing - and creativity and logic are two of the requirements. I should have worked with robots and been happier. Here's a fun story. I went to a school for a job and the principal took one look at me and said, "We don't do creative here. Could you teach by the book?" I lied and said yes, but he wasn't fooled. He also saw that I was an Anglo and the failing school was not. He told me they didn't teach like they did where I came from and that is true. I went to a religious 'old school teaching' girl school where everybody could read and write well, and discipline was required. Comedy of Errors is my teaching career.

So glad I'm out of the teaching profession. There are numerous reasons as to why. At the top of the list: The collapse. Not just of education, but society as a whole. You youngsters mark my words: By the time your kids hit school age, a free and fair education will be neither.

If your union didn't pitch a bitch about the "improvement plan," you should contact a lawyer post-haste. Aaaaand if you're in a state where unions are weak, thank goodness you got out of there. Good states for teaching still exist.

Public school has gone insane - for a variety of reasons.

You complain about people with other degrees teaching. Why? You quit and took a job in a different career field you probably don’t have experience in too.
