    Grease all the bolts before replacing, to make it easier next time. Also when putting grease on the spline, don’t’ put grease on the very top of the splines. This can create a vacuum between the spline and the crank making it very difficult to remove again. Lube the sides of the spline though.i cannot stress the value of putting the proper grease on any bolt that you are replacing.

    Replacing the thermostat on my Yamaha F50 was a snap as the housing cap is exposed for the world to see. On my F6, however, things were cryptic. This video showed me the way right to it. Thanks!

    Good on ya for doing your own maintenance. Getting ready to do a third 100 hour service on mine. I knew from experience that you were not going to remove that lower spark plug with your ratchet.The best way I have found to remove that lower plug is with the factory tool. They are cheap to pick up and keep in your tool kit. Also it is best to buy a new pair f plug cables.

    Thanks for sharing this - very interesting indeed. Could have been more convincing if you showed the actual flow of product water. You show us the water flowing out of the tap in the basin in the head. Isn't that just the water being taken from your boat's water tank and being pumped by your fresh water pump? And that pulsing noise that is always in the background, is that your system water pump providing that flow rather than the watermaker?

    Does your current 9.9 Yamaha have the power tilt feature, and the external gear shifter. I also have a Seawind 1000 1996. Trying to re-power her now, having trouble finding an outboard in the 9.9 range, without power trim features. Do you have any suggestions? Trying not to do any modifications to the Fiberglass engine wells. Thank you.

    If that’s a 4 stroke, then I have the same OB. Does the thermostat prevent the water from circulating when the motor is cold in the same way a thermostat in a car stays closed until the engine warms up? Or should the water start flowing immediately even when the motor is cold?

    Hi Steve, do you still own shambhala? Im from shoalhaven heads, we're going to have a look at her up at boatworks on Wednesday. I'd love to have a chat about the boat with you if possible? She looks like she'd be perfect for our little family to head off on some coastal adventures! Cheers mate

    I have a Yamaha 9.9MSHKZ that slipped out of forward at full throttle yesterday and, now, slips b4 full throttle. I hear reversing the gears and the dutch clutch has a good chance of working, but, I cannot find a video to explain how to dissemble and reassemble. Can you advise on that procedure?

    We should be leaving Jervis Bay in a couple of weeks. We’re waiting for our new jib & main sails to arrive and then we’re underway. Keep the videos coming so we know where you are.

    We also just acquired a Seawind 1000 (SeaQuel) and are enjoying your videos. I have a question, is there a good way to remove the 9.9s from their nacelles for service?

    • @stevesargent8611
      @stevesargent8611 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s no good way to remove them. If they are newish ones they are small enough to lift out the top but not really worth the trouble. I would service them from a tender or beach the boat and do them at low tide.

    G'day Steve, Enjoyed the videos, especially seeing our backyard and a boat the same as ours. You even gave some history on the RNP that I was unaware of. What killed your port motor? I thought it might have been cooking by the symptoms. Glad you are sorted, at least on one side. Cheers

      Hey David. I haven’t done an autopsy yet, but you may be right. It certainly didn’t seem to be running hot. It does, in fact, still run. It just blows a lot of oil. If I find out, I’ll let you know. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. There will be more.

    That's one old Clark pump. Probably one of the first ever made. Almost a show piece.
