Looks like a slick set-up…
I bought my X739 Sep 24’ with 54” Auto Connect deck, 47” snowblower with quick connect and weather enclosure. I have an acre and it uses about the same amount of gas as my previous X584 with a 48” deck. I also have the Merit Engineering electric chute actuator. It is expensive, but it is awesome!!
The electric chute actuator is a must have.
does that snowblower have that retched plastic impeller?...the x739 is the best lawn tractor out there...my uncle has the older x729 and im always borrowing it so i dont have to use the cub cadet ZT2 that breaks my back on the 1.25 acre of bumpy yard with many trees...not to mention the 18 deg hill i have to mow is so much safer on the tractor its downright scary on the ZT...its also the 62in and the ZT is a 50in so it takes 40 min off the time...id also want the htd glass cab and snowblower seeing as i live in WNY with the lake effect and a 250ft drive...but id change that plastic flat impeller...for 4700 a snowblower should not have that...idk why they dont just have pronovost make them for JD...much better blower...i wonder if a front 3 pt hitch can be found for these x700s?
My blower has the metal impeller. Although I did bend it when I sucked up a piece of 2x4. I agree that the x739 is one of the best tractors for mowing. I would think you could adapt a 3 point to work with the quick hitch, but myself I'd upgrade the impeller and if it still had chain drive I'd swap that out with the gearbox and then you'd have a pretty solid unit.
@@dustybooksdiy true...and my uncle has the 54in plow on his x729 and he was zipping up the drive pushing the 14in of snow with no issue...those tractors are worth the cash...as for the blower you could do that...ppl have i believe and it works out well esp switching from that plastic thing it really throws farther...i think a 2x4 would bend a lot of blowers...id want the pronovost blower myself seeing as they arent much more money...just got to have that front 3pt...
Perfect for ice rink when flooding behind tractor
I’ve always wanted one for my 318 then hook it up to the hydraulics so you can angle it left and right. Be perfect for driveways. Keep it up or just build me one!
Would like to have something similar on at the same time with the blower to scrape behind the blower for what the blower rides over or misses. As the scraper blade on the blower never seems to do a good clean up scrape job. The issue would be the PTO shaft underneath being in the way. Very nice fabrication work. That’s the fun stuff.
The pto shaft would be in the way for sure. Plus you would have to add more hydraulic ports.

This is gold!!!
Outstanding fab work. Thanks for sharing 👍
I will say that your belly blade turned out very well. That's perfect for quick cleaning of your driveway after a 5 to 8 inches of snow comes down. Any day that you don't have to pick up a snow shovel is a good day. Great video...thank you for sharing how you built it.
I appreciate that, I think it will come in handy when I need to clean off the driveway! Works well to clean off the compacted snow off the apron in front of the garage. Can't wait fro spring to use it to grade the driveway!
Great idea ! Excellent for grading
That's the main use, but had to try it out, amd it works well for the snow also.
John Deere makes a 60" mid mount blade as an attachment, even has hydraulic angle. Not real good for deep snow. But you have 4WD.
That is why I made one. They only made them for 2 years and are very hard to find. I made it more for summer use to maintain the driveway, but had to test it out. It did a good job pealing the snowpack off the apron in front of the garage.
talk a little slower please.
Listen faster
Nice work. When you can find the old JD 60” mid mount grader blade for the original X-Series, they are pretty pricey since not many were sold. Your version looks every bit as good and looks like it does a good job too for a fraction of the cost. It pays to be handy! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. I missed one this summer that was about 50 miles away for about what i have into this one. I think they made them for 2 years in 09 and 10.
The blade works but am wondering if it is going to be very useful to remove snow when that is the job needing to be done after a snow storm. Might be good for landscaping and leveling ground. Good fabrication and design for a belly blade.
You would be correct. I built it more for blading the driveway during the summer, but didn't have the time to do it until now. I just wanted to show it in use and, well the ground is frozen and we have snow. but with that said it did peal some of the compacted snow off the apron in front of the garage pretty well! Thanks for watching and comment.
I bought a Harbor Freight 7X 12 lathe. I have used several of Little Machine Shop's parts including their 16 inch bed. Fantastic people to do business with and great part selections with fair prices!
Yes, they have great customer service. Hopefully I'll ba able to get a mill from them in the near future.
good job good luck w the new puppies
Thanks, and happy Thanksgiving.
The ring roller function (the grooves at the edges of the top rollers) are for wire/tubing. You might be able to straighten the tubes that way.
Thanks, and happy Thanksgiving. I've had many uses for this little press and have used the groves to straighten some copper wire that I use to make my copper roses.
U should turn the top horizontal 180 degrees. The bolts to the splice kit should be facing down towards the ground, not up to the sky.
Thanks, I must have missed that in the directions. Happy Thanksgiving.

What's the ROI? It's when the Grid shuts down during a storm and loose all the food in the refrigerators and those who use a cpap machine will have a harder time sleeping.
So true. Already have had to use it because of a power outage and no worries! Thanks for commenting.

Did you happen to look into doing this same set up with an electric dryer with some type of switch to be able to just cut power to the heating element when the boiler is heating it and use it on electric when you want .. wasn't sure if you looked into what fault circuits would Trip
I did not. The biggest reason I went with the gas one was that they run off 120v. And with my hopes of being able to run it off my solar setup it was way easier to set up. Plus I was fairly certain the the gas solenoid was 120 volt and that made it much easier to run the circulator pump. But if you find anything or attempt I would be interested in any info. Thanks for your interest amd comment.
@@dustybooksdiy i see ... Has it been working well... Have you tried it with the boiler temp at 180f to see if any of those tem switches trip anything... It would be nice if it would work with 180f deg water
160 is about the hottest I can get my water. Haven't looked into if I can get it any hotter. Not sure if my aquastat is off or what. It has been working well. It definitely does take longer to dry the clothes. One of the things I need to improve is to get the air hotter. I think that the dryer is sucking the air thru the exchanger so fast it only gets to 95 to maybe 100 deg. So I'm thinking of adding another air exchanger and hopefully that will help. But I am happy with how it is working so far. I would think that you would be OK at 180 as your air probably wouldn't get that hot.
I envy you, i like the 739, almost bought one but the price scared me off, hopfully next year though i will get one! Enjoy your wonderful machine!😊😊😊
I use a chair on the bottom of the panel to install mine or clamps to keep it secure so it could be done solo. Did you use the Brightmount Rail Extension kit to fit the Panels? I thought about putting 560 watt Bifacials on mine (Sungoldpower) I was debating what would be easier to lay out tarp underneath it before or after? I don't want grass to grow underneath it and the reflective properties is a plus
I did have to get 2 of the extension kits. I was hoping to just have to use 1 but it would have been about 1" short. I think the main thing with bifacial panels is to get them up off the ground so that the ambient light can get to them. I still have to do something with the ground under mine as of right now. To many other projects in the fire! I have about a 2 ft drop in front of mine and am hoping that helps with the snow this winter (also another reason to get them up high).
@@dustybooksdiy I just used Two 6x6x10's chopped it in half buried 2 feet in the ground 3 feet high, no concrete, its sturdy ain't going no where
What panels did you use?
Heliene 535 wat bifacial
@@dustybooksdiy Thanks. Where did you get them?
@@gorillamotors I got them from a private party off of Facebook marketplace.
Better to run conduit…then you can run whatever wire you need to at a later date without digging again
Ya I'm kinda kicking myself for not doing that, but I should be ok with 4 runs of wire.
I clicked on the video because I read lots of Encyclopedia Brown books. If you don't have one yet, look into the Emporia Vue energy monitors for getting data on power usage for each circuit. My electric dryer uses a lot of power when it's running, but over a month, some plant lights use more.
I subscribed,u need some help im a retired manual machinist,32yrs in same shop,u gonna need a set of O.D mics, first lathe i ever ran was a Warner Swasey 3A,,then went to HBM,Deveileg Jig Mill,
Thanks for the comment. I do have a set of od mics. Haven't used them in years. Have a habbit of just grabbing the calipers for most everything. I haven't ran a lathe since trade school, so it's been fun to get to tinker with it. Much respect to the old school machinists!

I'm always in awe of what they did back in the days before everything when to cnc. I still have my books from school and I'm going to have to go back thru some of them.

You can always try santan solar
I believe they are good also, as are many others. I just haven't dealt with them.
Hey thanks for taking the time to make these videos, I have subbed to follow your journey, we just started off with solar also with 2 x Ecoflow Delta 2 Max units and 2x 400w eco solar panels and also just ordered 2 more 550w Bifacial solar panels, we dont use much in our home but so far one D2M is running our entire kitchen, and the other D2M is running our MB where we live and work all day. I am charging my units once daily and they run all day powering most of our home. the other 2 550watt Bifacial solar panels should really help to charge up both units which are 2048wh each. I am also ordering one extra battery that should be more than enough for our small home, I am thinking of getting some extra home batteries just to have more storage room when needed but we'll see I am still doing alot of testing like you are brother. want to maximize it, I am trying to find out what is best for charging and discharging, right now I charge upto 98% and allow the batteries to power our home until they drain till 8% then I will charge on grid for a few hours, so saving alot on energy but dont know exactly how much as we just started. will keep following your journey we Pray GOD's very Best for you and your family on this Journey brother! keep them videos coming! what is your charge and discharge strategy ? any new changes you have done?
Thanks for the positive comment. It really is awesome when someone gets some sort of inspiration from one of my videos. I think this is why I do it. I wish I could run my house off a setup like yours. that would be phenomenal. I surely don't drain my batteries down that far, maybe 30%. Since making the video I've been working on running about a 600-watt average. I can do that for a couple of days and then the batteries need to catch up for a day. Ultimately, I would like batteries to last me 3 days, even when the sun doesn't shine. Still working on how much reserve batterie in need to do that and waiting for December - January to see what the panels will do. with the new panels up and running I have an idea of what I need, but still working that out. But first I'm going to be working on a project to help lower my power consumption from the grid. I will say this. the sooner you can get so you don't have to charge your batteries of the grid the better. so much loss in conversion, even if your running good equipment.
18:27 - PGE charges us 16.34 cents per KWH in Oregon. They've raised our rates twice in the past twelve months. 20:29 - That's only twenty-eight cents per watt, so you got a great deal on those 535 watt bifacial panels! Most people are happy to get their solar panels at fifty cents per watt. We are on grid and use an overall average of just over 42 KWH's of energy per day. Two people in an 1,188 square foot home.
And that's one of the things that worries me. I can see our kwh rates easily doubling in the next few years. My wife and I averaged 39 kwh a day last month. Lots of AC running. But compared to last year it was almost 50 kwh per day.
I use the $10 and $30 charge controllers and stack them. One system has 6 of them, another system has 3, another has 4. Much cheaper.
But they waste power, a medium sized MPPT controller may give 10-20% more charge power as well as possibly lengthening the life of the batteries. Plus i would not trust a $10 controller with my expensive LiFePo4 batteries.
Looks great!!😊
Great video!😊
Thanks! 😊
New subscriber here. Thanks for the video. Do you have the racking system you used. Was it bright mount or something? Thanks. All the best from north Texas.
Thanks for subscribing. The racking is BrightMount. I just noticed that I mis spelled it in my video description. I'll have to get that changed. So far, I am happy with it. easy to install.
Nice set up.
Thanks!
Excellent
Cost ?
Did you put anything to hold belt up like a sprocket or something
the belt has 2 idler pulleys right beside the drive pully to keep it engaged. other than that, it's just the tension of the belt keeping it on.
I have the X739 with the snow blade and drive on deck. I love it. It’s a huge upgrade from the L120 I had for years. The L120 would get stuck all the time on my hilly property and it basically tore itself apart plowing. The X739 plows my driveway like a beast and doesn’t even need weights or chains. I can rip through my 1 acre yard in half the time, but I don’t see the high fuel burn that you do. The thing has a ton of power - enough to drag fallen trees. Also maintenance is easy: nice port to drain the oil, etc.
What's the box called?
Wondering if you know if there is a “rebuild” kit for these or is there even much to be said for seals and such that “wear out” in it? Didn’t look like much from your video. Any info would be greatly appreciated! I just picked one of these up and love it but the one pump feels weak on the turns and even will bind up almost and make my belt squeal… Awesome video nonetheless!
Thank You. I am not aware of a rebuild kit for these. It was hard to find any info on them. but I was able to figure out that a lot of john Deere mowers used the same style of pump for the hydrostat. They were just setup a little bit different. Not much for seals to replace that I can remember from taking it apart. If I was going to start looking, I would check with any hydraulic repair shops in your area as a start, or if you have any old school farm implement mechanics that maybe worked on mowers and such.
Do you remember what size lawnmower it came from? Thank you!!
@@CraigLasley I do not. I did a lot of digging at the time, but that was a couple of years ago. Being as this was built from 73 -78 I would start with mowers in that era!
@@EncyclopediaBrownShortsthank you!
how long did you use the little 1200watt inverter for?
I only used it for about 6 months. Had a 50-watt load on it. Then I upgraded to the Quattro 3000.
@@dustybooksdiy okay, bearly used then ... kool.
I have the same skid steer and same ford truck as you. Same color too. Very weird
The brightmount kit shows each leg 51.2” apart what’s the distance measurement of the second connected brightmount leg? It looks closer?
I was a little off when I dug the hole for the concrete. But the main thing is that they are all in a line. The legs can slide either way, and I think as long as your not on a splice or to far from the end, it will be fine.
Can you do a video showing how much power that array is generating ?
I'm working on that right now
I’d be more concerned with shade or trees falling on the array than it blowing away with all of that concrete. They need to be 3-5’ off the ground in the front to gain much from bifacials.
Your points are spot on. And I do have a plan to take care of a few issues that you've pointed out.
