Mudding in our Teryx 4S Apalachicola Nat'l Forest
This is the most water we have ever been in with our Teryx 4S, somewhere on the 100 miles of trails by our house in the Apalachicola National Forest. We didn't buy the Teryx to be a mudding machine. We just enjoy normal trail riding. But when we hook up with our neighbors, we never know what will happen. Our friends go first in their more capable machines to make sure the water isn't too deep. Most of the spots have hard bottom and we can tolerate about 24" water depth as long as there are no deep ruts, which of course you can't tell. But at some point, we were bound to get stuck. That's no big deal, they just help us winch out. My only concern is water getting into the air intakes and I now know 27" water depth is OK but probably the max. Our tires are 27" diameter and they were covered where we got stuck. The Teryx has a big flat metal belly pan and once it suctions onto the mud, it's done. We really enjoy our Teryx and hope that was the worst mud it gets into!

My first visit to Cape San Blas, near Port St. Joe. I really liked this area because it had a good variety of water with the ocean and the bay, plus there were very few people. When I got home, I checked the maps, and there's a lot more to explore.

For my first kayak experience in NE Florida, I went to the Wacissa River. It is spring fed, so the water is very clear and cool. The aluminum skiffs used around here are new to me as well. Many of them have surface drive motors (Mud motor), which I was curious about.

The launch ramp to Lake Talquin is just 1/2 mile from our house. The lake is different than anything I have experienced and it's about 17 miles long with number side fingers. There's lots to explore. There are definitely gators in the lake, and I'm learning where they are likely and not likely to be. They are actually very wary of people and I have not even been able to get close to the few I s...

A brief sunset paddle of Lake Talquin, near Tallahassee Florida. The vegetation and wildlife is impressive. And it's very unique because there are clusters of tall trees right in the middle of the lake. Not islands, just trees poking out of the water.

Fun filming Mike cutting the lawn. Filmed with DJI Mavic Air using PolarPro ND4CP filter. I will make another video for Mike once the water clears up.

      The location is at Sorobon Beach on Lac Bay in Bonaire. Lac Bay is the windsurfing area which also allows wing foil, but no kiting. It is protected by a barrier reef, so the water is calm. The deeper water for foil is at the very end of the road, just past Jibe City rentals.

    • @anthonyortali3260
      @anthonyortali3260 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@derekbergener5267 Also, I'm thinking a Wagon has rear hvac, windows, seat choices, and airbags/seatbelts for when you carry passengers. It is not as possible to insulate it because of the windows and the finished trim pieces, but that is a trade off.

      Ha, I forgot about that video and just watched it again. Fun time with almost no wind. The spot is on the left (south) side of the road going towards Sanibel Island (near Fort Myers), just before the toll booth. We call it the "mud flats" because at a super low tide, the bottom is exposed and it looks like a big mud flat. Except the sand bar of course, is sandy. Usually the water is knee to waste deep and excellent for kiting.

    • @derekbergener5267
      @derekbergener5267 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +David L I have a good wind meter. Kellen is a small guy and very good. Our sandbar goes out about a mile and the water was very shallow, so what you are seeing as so called whitecaps out past the first exposed sandbar are not wind driven. They are just little waves lapping on the next sandbar. Seems we are not the only one making the Contra 17 go in light wind th-cam.com/video/e1rYfWqWNJI/w-d-xo.html I see you have flysurfer kites. Big cred for kiting on asphalt!! I have a 21m Flysurfer Speed 3 deluxe. I don't ride it much these days after getting the Contra 17m, but maybe I should give it another try.

    • @davidl3115

      Yes i switched up to all flysurfers now. As they can be used on both land and water : ) and I am just venturing on to the water. They are really excellent kites. I have been landboading for more than 12 years and don't mind the asphalt. Lol . The 2nd video says 10knts and i think thts enough to have fun on a 17m. Yes u should give the 21m another go my biggest is the 15m lotus i love tht kite .

      I think he still rides the same board, so I will ask him tomorrow. He weighs about 145 lbs, so that's a factor for the 17m working like this in 9-10 mph wind. He uses much smaller fins than anyone around here, so his edging technique is very good. I weigh 200 lbs and need 11-12 mph to jump the 17m. Unfortunately, my jumps are not worth filming!

I am still tweeking the gain settings on the flight controller to get the video more stable. I took some video at 1080i and some still photos.
