Mental Management® is the study of winners, the information we teach was created and used by our founder Lanny Bassham to win World Championships and the Gold Medal in the Olympics. We understand what pressure is from a competitive stand point. We teach a method that has been proven to work under pressure.
95% of winning is accomplished by only 5% of the participants. Why? We believe it is the way they think. This channel will offer videos to teach you the principles and techniques of champions as well as interviews with some of our clients and people who have succeeded at high levels in sport, business and performance.

How champions overcome pressure in competition..
Troy and Lannys emphasize the importance of the reinforcement phase in overcoming pressure in competition. The reinforcement phase is directly related to self-image, which affects one's opinion of one's ability to perform tasks correctly.
Focusing on solutions and reinforcing positive outcomes in the reinforcement phase can help reduce pressure and improve the probability of future success.
The key is consistently applying the three-step reinforcement phase approach: evaluate the task, reinforce the positive, or learn from the negative, then let it go and move on.

I have read all your books. Had in person training. Watched all your podcasts, and I learn more every time as a coach and competitor
Taking this wisdom with me to the match this weekend. Thanks!
Great video! That is going to be very helpful while I am trap shooting
💯
Love you Bobby ! Thank you for all the music The clinics And just being a nice person. And for the kind words and Autograph ✍️ Live long and prosper 🖖
Thank you Lanny. Such good advice.
Hi Troy . Can you do a podcast explaining how persons in a reactive sport should reinforce . It's easy for me to understand shooting, golf, a serve in tennis etc. from a start situation. But how do you train persons in a rally 🤔?
Bought your book and love it.
Another great video with some positive action points to work on. In archery my 'target panic' is shown in releasing too early. Thanks so much for these videos x (currently reading your book - With Winning in mind).
Another great video of amazing advice. Now to put it in practise. Thanks so much xxx
Just started watching these - they are amazing and totally backing up what my archery coach is telling me- but I am struggling to do! Really, really need to work on my Self Image / Mental game. Hoping to find ways to help me do this in these videos. Have ordered the book (Winning in Mind) but its not due to arrive in UK until mid- Jan. Can't wait to read it. Thankyou so much for posting these on TH-cam.
I’m in a combat sport! Jiujitsus What would I write in my performance journal? Would it any different in tournament event?
incredible drummer..
My wife listened to this DAILY and it helped her performance on the MCAT. THANK YOU!!
How do you compare to Shot IQ and Joel Turner?
Thanks a tonne boys
I just told my wife, " I wished this 12 years ago when I decided to be a 4-H Shooting Sports Coach, and then a State Instructor 2 years ago!' Yes, we all have those aha moments, sometimes as my wife said, " All in a good time and place!"
Wished I had found you all 12 years ago when our son was 1st entering shooting sports, and when I chose to become a 4-H Coach. Now a Instructor teaching new coaches, what I have learned in the last 2 weeks after finding your program, 4 books purchased, finishing up the 1st and the other 3 should arrive tomorrow. The difference I could have made in youth in our program the last 12 years, and our son, which did end his 4-H career as a 4-H National Muzzleloading Champion. I have found many of the aspects I was using, but not all. Our 2023 Texas Muzzleloading Team was dream team. A 4 members had known each other for 8 years or more. The difference in that team is they all supported each other, and had fun being a team. They were not so much focused on winning, as they were being outstanding role models and representing the State of Texas. Overall as a team we finished 2nd, but the difference was so tight, it took a computer to figure out the percentage. With the knowledge I am gaining with your program and books, I feel my ability as a coach and instructor will be very much improved over the coming years!
Outstanding presentation! I have learned so much from your family in just the last week, that I looked for, and never found over the last 12 years.
Keep the content coming! I have been a 4-H Shooting Sports coach for 11 years now, and a National Level II Rifle Instructor for just over a year. I wished I had this material 10 years ago. Granted, the Youth in our program that wish to enter state and national level 4-H matches have done well, had I had this mental process ingrained in my being, I can only imagine how much better our team would have been in 2023 at Nationals! I am not a great speaker, but with what I watched tonight, I truly believe our team would have pulled off the Overall, after a bad 2nd day! Thank You Lanny Basham and family!
Thank You Basham family! Your points, values and philosophy is what we teach and promote in Texas 4-H Shooting Sports. As a coach and a coach instructor I strive to continue learning everyday, and this video reinforced what my personal beliefs in dealing with youth are based on. Thank You!
My daughter is still training over the summer but was looking for a break from competition for her mental break. Shooting and having fun training with friends has been beneficial. We're looking forward to diving into your book this summer too!
Thank you so much for this, both informative and transformative. Appreciate the point about the role of the Coach as someone who can get you toward accomplishment and attainment sooner and more efficiently. Thank you both for the excellent explanation and instruction.
Bender is the man
Would like to know how you developed a fix for breakaway.
Sure. Send me an email at lanny@mentalmanagement.com for a free 20-minute. session.
Thank you both!
Exceptional Breakdown of mental management system
Amazing and useful instruction ❤
It’s a LITERAL SHAME that more people aren’t aware of y’all!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING WHO Y’ALL ARE!!!
Read the book “Parenting Champions” by these guys. It’s INCREDIBLE!!
I wore out the cassette tapes. The information you provided has helped me so much. You have helped me with shooting and life in general. I had the privilege of meeting and shooting with Lones Wigger. After listening to you speak of him, it felt like I knew him. Thanks for producing the videos!
My pleasure.
Good day Sir. I'm a viewer from the Philippines. I subscribed to your channel after hearing good things about you and your book from coach Firas Zahabi . I'm so excited to learn from you
Welcome aboard!
Fantastic video, Although this is excellently explained in his book, Lanny always adds comments and, above all, anecdotes that are of great importance to all of us. Thank you very, very much Lanny and Troy

The Guns are cheap compared to the cost of feeding Horses owning a Ranch .. Truck and Trailer .. Shooting blanks you can reload just some black powder and a new primer..
When I was 16 I went to a shooting camp in Salem OR and heard a speaker teaching about the mental aspect. I was 12th place that year. I went home and practiced the mental side daily and a year later went back and sick as a dog came in 2nd! It was the mental all the way!
This is great stuff! Definitely not only for sports but also very applicable to the business world and life in general. Love the points about students racing to the door at the end of a class and missing an opportunity to jot down a few key takeaways that could save significantly on study time later. I'll be encouraging my kids to take up that habit. Thank you for the excellent video!
You guys get a little sidetracked at times but still great stuff. Keep ‘em coming.
W. Clement Stone had a 4 step process for, how a person learns. There is also What, Why and How. Of the 3, which is the most important? The answer is How. You can know What. You can know Why. But, if you don't know How, none of it matters.
Agreed!
"you can get pretty good at making mistakes if you repeat them enough", golden nugget there love Lanny
I spend 10% of my time worrying about 90% of my skeet game. Otherwise, I would blow my brains out!
You are so right Lanny! Thank you for highlighting this point and for making/sharing this video. .
Awesome analogies and articulation. I'd love a video addressing 'surprise release' (i.e. hinge release )in archery and how that pertains to mental game or shortcoming thereof. This video is the highlight of my day.🙏🏼💜
Wow. I'm so glad I found this channel! I've been into competitive shooting for about 2 years now and was referred to his book to help my mental focus before the match. I definitely have the problem of overthinking and worrying too much about how the other competitors are doing. The self image is key! Looking more to more videos/podcasts!
I am classified as handicapped. Imagine not being able to feel your legs. Now come up with a way to make your legs work, without being able to feel them. Welcome to my world. Shooting skeet or trap, my legs have to work correctly. When I can make my legs work, through an entire event, I will normally match or beat anyone. If at any point, my legs do not work, the target will not break. If there is high humidity, low air pressure and high dew point, everything starts to go out the window. The pain level also increases. My back, shoulders, hips and knees all start to hurt. Additional background - I am not supposed to be able to walk. I am supposed to be on permanent crutches or in a wheel chair. It took me 15 years to stand up straight. I am a NSSA and NRA certified instructor and ATA certified coach. I keep training people to become state, regional and national champions. I also helped one multi time world champion with his stance. He picked up 3 more world titles. Any suggestions on how to keep my legs working and handle the weather better? Thank you.
