I dearly love Thumper for the odd time signatures! However, even Thumper uses 4/4 and 8/8, and I felt like the way those levels handled the standard 4-beat time signature were still really interesting and fun and intense to play, and it was really eye-opening for me! I'm definitely already considering 5-beat and 7-beat for future custom levels I may make, but for now since I'm not really that experienced at level-making in any capacity, I'm purposely trying to keep this one simple by just focusing on simple time off-beats as the theme. But yeah, hopefully once I finish this one, I'll have enough experience to tackle a more complex time signature level!

@@Indecency562 Nice! I have no idea how hard it is to make custom levels in Thumper, but I imagine it would be a tedious task. I suggest starting simple and use a regular rhythm (that happens to have a prime number of beats, if we're going for odd rhythms) and work your way from there - time signatures like 5/4 and 7/4, basically. Levels 5 and 7 start with those rhythms respectively in earlier stages, anyway, only occasionally broken up with small moments of 5/8 or 7/8. Levels 6 and 9 have moments that can sometimes feel like 2/4 and 3/4 respectively.

I think it jumps to being too hard too quickly though, so I think I'll make level 2 a bit easier, and have something of this difficulty later on! So thats why they left it unused. To avoid legal hassle. Crazy fact: Part of Reisen's theme from Touhou sounds VERY SIMILAR to Megaman X5's Cyber Core maze music. And MMX5 came out in 2000, whereas the Touhou game with Reisen's theme came out in 2005. Surprised Capcom did nothing about it.

@@Indecency562 I Appreciate it :). There are not many mixes with PS1 adventure music. And when it is PS1, it is mostly FF/Xenogears. So I was really happy to stumble upon your mix.

Okay, I gave it another shot and it seems like mashing A doesn't actually result in more distance: The main thing with covering this huge distance is really how good your lift-off is. This recording actually helped give me a reference for this! For some reason this game lets you perform a jump even after you've walked off of a ledge and are falling, so I'd definitely recommend running off the ledge first, and then jumping in mid-air here! Just continue to glide onwards, but check your altitude in relation to the corner of the stone you see me pass by in 0:05-0:06. If your lift-off clearly looks like it's not as high as this, you won't make it, but you can still turn back around at this early point to cancel your attempt to try your jump again. I think the 'late' jump off the ledge is the key to getting this height though! Best of luck!

Hey, I did see your comment when you made it years ago and, initially, I felt ashamed of myself for missing it because I really thought I had been thorough, but, really, thank you for clarifying this for me and everyone else. I guess I was just in a bit of a rush at the time to get this guide out, and didn't really double-check enough when I should have done to make sure I really had a complete guide. Oh well, next time I'll try to do better, and thank you for the info! No idea if I'll do guides again in the future, but I'll try to be much clearer about where things are next time. ❤

Oh, yeah, I checked your timestamps and you're absolutely right. I think I put this footage together like "Yeah, these places are all very familiar to me, this is all obvious stuff" but I should really have approached my editing with the perspective where not all players are going to understand how to get through these areas without a map. Every segment should have been more like "Here is a familiar landmark you can't miss, and here's the path you take to get to these rings."
