How can you have phase a and phase b when it is single phase? It is line 1 and line 2 not phase a and phase b it is single phase
Thank you very much. Very clear explanation!
Well that sure isn't intuitive. Should name it TCV sub(script) 25, voltage temperature coefficient base 25 degrees C.
w/o rounding 149.6 Volts 17.66 amps
at the parallel arc wouldnt there be 32A of current since the strings are all still connected in parallel? if the inverter shuts down the arc is basically shorting the whole pv array but then all cables should be rated for 32A instead of 8 or else they will melt or you would need fuses at the terminals of each string, i think, or if you have a fuse/breaker for each string in the combiner box right before the live busbar wouldnt that breaker trip for the string with the parallel arc since the current of the 3 top strings is trying to pass there
Brilliant explanation. Usually, separate grounding is usually recommended. Should the inverter, the PV should still be grounded
thank you teacher for all informations . can we simulink the arc in pv system?
Need distance tripping individual solar panel circuit breaker - when arcing, protection circuit triping all MCB's.
Absolutely awesome. Thanks
excellent video, I wish you continue making more videos
Where is sample?
But if you have modular level rapid shutdown it could halt a parallel arc
Whats the best way to find a series fault?
Love your videos, thanks, you made it really clear.
Is GFPD required by NEC for an off-the-grid solar installation that only uses DC loads. No inverter.
Excellent explanation. Well done.
Thanks so much for this Is there harm in oversizing your solar panels to improve absorption on cloudy days? Eg a 650w panel for an inverter designed for 550 watt max solar input. Will there be risk on a sunny day when 650 watt is actually absorbed by the solar panel? My inverter has a built in solar charge controller.
I have a Very good Question for you “ can you take 2 different battery Ah but the same Voltage “ put them in Parallel the First bank 48v 280Ah and can you put in parallel a 48v 40Ah bank to help regenerate the Electricity used ? And if not because of the Ah - can you use an Active Balancer say 31S voltage does not matter you connect 31 batteries together as if they are parallel but the batteries are not physically connected so you have 31 Lithium Phosphate batteries connected to the Active Balancer and you have 15 batteries in series connected together + to - so on for only 15 batteries and the extra 17 batteries are to help keep the electrical charge constant- Can this be done ? Only 15 Batteries are on the same DAILY 15S 120A BMS but you have 31 Batteries all Connected through an Active Balancer ! Can this be done ?
Okay, that's great, but pretty vague. How about at least a pointer to the NEC code section that's relevant?
Connect wiring diagram of 12 solar panel in 24v
I don't understand why my solar charger tells me I'm charging my batteries at 36 a 48 amps 52 amps sometimes 27.5 and I have several solar cuz I need to combined strength to the house they have less chargers and I don't mind the amps what I'd be more worried about is the votes and every 10 watch that the charger takes it turns it into an amp that's why I don't mine the amp so much.
So what's the solution? Why offer a problem scenario if you're not going to offer a solution? Makes no sense.
Great Video! This wasn't what I was actually looking for but I found it to be excellent content. @4:30, You hit on my 'Pet Peeve' about people discussing electricity and issues with it. The old 'The power takes the path of least resistance!'... As you said it does but it takes all paths. Some not so knowledgeable people actually believe that to be true or fact. I have had to explain that if that statement was accurate, components in parallel wouldn't work, current would only flow through the component with the lower Ohm reading! Thank you for not repeating that old erroneous statement that way too many believe. Again, Nice video. Ya'll Take Care and be safe, John PS: Would you know of a good video in relation to testing a solar panel for ground leakage with a multimeter? I have seen a few that are just showing and trying to sell you a specialized product that they sell. Thanks
Thank you
So does it mean to hook up all metal parts of the solar system to the ground of the house ground and put a 1A fuse from ground to the negative side of the solar wiring? My inverter has a ground post on the back of the unit, so I just hook the ground post to the house receptacle ground.
Very useful indeed
The best ❤
Thank you, very interesting.
Hi, how much 375w panels (38v and 11amps) can I connect to a 5kw hybrid inverter with 145VOC Inverter Output Waveform: Pure Sine-Wave. Rated Power: 5000VA/5000W. Parallel Capability: Yes, 6 units. Solar Charger Maximum PV Array Power: 4500W. MPPT Range @ Operating Voltage: 60VDC ~115VDC. Standby Power Consumption: 2W. Maximum PV Array Open Circuit Voltage: 145VDC. Maximum Efficiency: 97%. Maximum Solar Charge Current: 80A. AC Charger Charge Current: 60A. AC Input Voltage: 230 VAC. Selectable Voltage Range: 170-280 VAC (For Personal Computers); 90-280 VAC (For Home Appliances). Frequency Range: 50Hz/60Hz (Auto sensing).
At the 1:15 you mentioned that most PV systems would have the ground fault protection within the inverter. When you say most, I assume that means that having ground fault protection in the inverter isn't a requirement for UL listing? For example, a VERY popular inverter for the DIY crowd is the Voltronic based LV 6548, but from what I can find, even the latest variant of it, the EG5 6500EX does not have built in ground-fault protection, yet it has a TUV / UL certification. I assume that means that not having built in ground-fault protection isn't a requirement for getting an inverter certified?
What type of circuit protection do we need to prevent series & parallel arcs
A lot of talk about problems but not much on preventing them.
Modular level shutdown with with micro inverters or optimizers
What happens if u check everything and go to test it and it pop up relay test code
i guess a double pole afdd might help ?
So how do you find the fault? First find what string is causing issue then take multimeter and test each negative and positive of each panel? By disconnecting them from the string? Make sure to cover panels so you don’t get shocked too. Trying to figure out this now any fast reply very apprecated
Look like you could easily get electrocuted with parallel arc as no protection if you touch both wires + -
Can you do a video with more detail on current flows and why
yes
These videos are the best. Thank you
Does the DC always have its own earth electrode ? Could the AC be bonded to this also ? Is the purpose of the fuse to stop fire ? as the system keeps running ok
Just came across this video as I am new to investigating solar systems. In order to get a good south facing array out from under trees I would have to put my array down in my pasture about 600 yards away from the house. What kind of voltage and wire gauge would I need to go that far?
Your video really helped bro!....I was here trying to figure out how in the world that forty four P700 optimizers (with 85V output) connected in series on a SolarEdge datasheet didn't exceed the 3 phase inverter's input voltage max of 600VDC!!....You cleared it up,....the inverter controls the optimizer outputs to maintain this!....many thanks
I wish you continue making PV lessons, you're good teacher and you made it so easy to understand!
Nice video!
Great content and explained really well
It is very useful because I can understand it through pictures. thank you
Are the arcs between a conductor and ground similar to the arc in parallel?
Excellent PResentation...well done ..
Clarifying video, thanks!
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Deep Thanks to Mr. Marc from Yemen, with five stars for ur great videos, clear explanation, easy to understand, and it was very useful to me .... i appreciate that.
Thank you very much for your explanation! Do you know if it is mandatory to have this GFPD incorporated inside an inverter?
AMAZING
