How To Manage Your Photos - Photo Management Tutorial
มุมมอง 35Kหลายเดือนก่อน
The most requested topic that I get is to do a tutorial on 'how to manage your photos'. I finally caved and put together the most boring video I've ever created but you asked for it and here it is. As a landscape photographer and filmmaker I amass a shocking amount of footage and raw FILES. It all has to be organized so that I can make a safety copy AND find what I need when I need it. This sim...

Thanks Gavin…confirmation of nothing else that I’m doing nothing wrong!…in my case I’ll have master folders by year then sub folders with yyyymmdd and the location or occasion. Then further folders for which camera was used, like you. And thanks for the comment on the duds…have always wondered about that! Cheers….
Would love the PS version, thanks.
a great informative video Gavin, but would like to see photoshop version, don,t use Luminar, keep them coming thanks mate.
This is an absolutely relevant and honest elaboration. High megapixel count will not mask your skill holes...
Very informative. Thank you.
Thanks Gavin! Long time fan. I’m curious do you use Photoshop exclusively for editing or do you also LrC? I’m just setting up a new external SSD. I was trying to get a little more organized so this is helpful. Look forward to seeing more on this channel and your other channels too.
I use LR very rarely.
Absolutely loving the new channel!!
Yes, please. Show it in Photoshop!
Ireland is a kip
PS version would be great Gavin, thanks for your videos 🙂
yes photoshop tutorial please
great video, thanks for the tips. I am still very much learning the features of luminar neo
Great to see a Photoshop version
Look at canon and Nikon, there older flagship DSLR's had £5k price tags, but were both only 20mp, pretty much every mirrorless camera on sale today has a minimum 24mp at least.
Thank you Gavin. Really enjoying the studio channel.
Another informative video! Love the waterfall image! Hope your feeling better! I would also enjoy a PS version! Looks like a great bunch of photographers in your workshop photo!😉
Well done. I shoot college sports on an R6 with the RF 100-300 2.8. During an event I will push a few files to the news outlet and when done, hundreds. Twenty megapixels is very manageable considering I don’t know how much bandwidth I will have at a given venue. The Hasselblad X2D is a very different animal and instead of shooting 12 fps I’m taking my time shooting landscapes one image at a time. With 100 megapixels, later I have the option of finding the composition within the composition. Sixteenth bit raws….magic. Is it a necessity? Absolutely not…but it sure is fun.
Never used Luminar, seems to be similar to Topaz in a way that it has more refined sliders and maybe better AI? But do you need all 3, Topaz, Luminar and PS? Maybe especially Luminar and PS?
I do use all three for specific needs but you NEED all 3? Nah.
Great video, Gavin! I am curious. Does Luminar Neo auto align the photos automatically? I would like to see the PS version as well. As that is my main software for editing. But seriously looking at LN in the near future..
It does NOT which to me is a major shortfall. They really need to add this feature ASAP.
@@fototripperstudio I agree. I will be giving it a try. Using your link. I love that it has a 30 day money back guarantee. Well worth a look for sure. And with up to 84% off, that is pretty crazy!
This is more or less how I would manage photos. My setup is smaller. Smartphone and one camera. This is how I manage them in Lightroom CC. I have folders by country like Estonia, Portugal and US. Under folders are albums of my trips. Like so "2024 07 Funchal" or "2021 08 Tallinn" and "2021 09 Tartu" This way each trip is sorted on their own albums chronologically by year+month+main location.
I enjoyed this video, but a photoshop version would be greatly appreciated.
Your drive is probably much slower because it's formatted as exFat format. If you don't need to use that drive on a PC, I'd recommend formatting it in a Mac format. You'll find it's much faster and more reliable.
I mostly use a PC.
@@fototripperstudioThat's understandable then.
Great. Thanks. As a lightroom/photoshop user i would love a further explanation. I promise to tickle your bell!
Would like to see a Photoshop blending.
I would like to see the same images blended using PS, be able to compare technique and ease of use between the two software applications.
Yes, please do a photoshop version Id love to see it. Fascinating video though.
Thanks Gavin. I use Luminar and this helps alot , cheers.
Great instruction, it’s just too bad that this is what the”art” of photography has become…how about taking a photo and allowing it to be the rendering of what you experienced instead of artificially manipulating it? Has photography become 80% post processing?
I think 80% post processing began in the dark room with Ansel Adams.
@@fototripperstudio Fair point! Can't argue with that.
Thank you for this tutorial. That reflection patch with the tree was impressive. I didn't know you could do that. Appreciate you. 🙏
How about a gimp version
Yes please for a photoshop version.
Yes please, Photoshop 😊
I think your cheeky sense of humour combined with your great photography videos and now studio tutorials are a real winner. All those other people are a bit boring. 😂
Another Neo user. Thank you for your tutorial Gavin. But mate, when I am editing on my PC, I certainly don't get a cuppa from the missus. More likely it's a hurry up to get off the b.......... computer. 😅
Photoshop version please!
Yes please for Photoshop version
Thanks for the great Luminar tutorial, very helpful since I ditched Adobe subscription
Yes please to photoshop (esp that second example with the reflections!)
What I really want to know is how you managed to find a time at Skogafoss when you could get a shot with no people in it!
Watch the on location video and you'll see ;)
@@fototripperstudio I did! I admire your ability to survive on 20 minutes of sleep per night.
Keep bring Luminar Neo!
Thank you Gavin, an excellent tutorial on Luminar Neo, I enjoyed it very much. 👍😎
I have enough trouble figuring out Photoshop, so please stick with that!
Gavin love your videos, would also love a photoshop version of this thanks in advance. All the best to you and Mrs Hardcastle
Yes to the photoshop version.
Another great lesson, keep it coming Gavin. Thanks
Thank you so much for this Gavin, I have Luminar Neo, but I'm still finding my way around the interface, this has helped me immensely.
You're very welcome!
Great tutorial! I'd be interested in a photoshop version. Is there a way to remove other artifacts? I took Aroura pics with my phone that had lens protectors on it. Some images look like a rock was dropped into a pond. The bullseye is a pattern of varying light.
Thank you so much for this video. I would love to see more Neo training videos, too.
❤love the vide I also love the software
I would love the PS version!
