The Bang & Olufsen Beovox S75: Be Careful With Vintage Speakers From Estate Sales
This is a basic video showing how I changed out the capacitors and replaced the grill cloth on a pair of vintage Bang and Olufsen Beovox S75 speakers. They were in need of some TLC and I did the best I could with my very limited experience to get them back to, if nothing else, reliable.

There are 2 different options... the service manual has a list all of them, which is free if you just google "Beovox S75 Service Manual" However... The capacitor values may be different in the ones you buy. That's, in fact, what happened with the ones in the video. In that case, each cap will specify its value on the side of it and you can order the exact replacements based on that.

I bought a pair of Nova 7B's when I was 15. They were on sale so I was able to get a pair for 59.95 (half price). They were Great! I put them up against other speakers my friends had (good speakers--Bang & Olufson and AR--don't remember the models) and they really held their own, especially for the price. When I lived in the dorms a couple years later, I matched them with a very early model Onkyo receiver (40 watts per channel). Onkyo was new at the time. I was the only guy in the dorm who could crank the volume all the way up and not get noticable distortion. Their 20-20K rating was accurate as all frequencies were clear and even. I flipped the switch on the back and just picked the setting that matched my ear to the room. I wish I still had them...

I bought a fully automatic Sharp RP-113 linear tracking turntable 40 years ago in my teens and I'm still listening to it today with regular, almost daily use. What amazes me most is that records that I've been playing on it for the entire time that I've owned it still sound brand new. The needle sits perfectly in the grooves and basically doesn't degrade the vinyl with slight angular misalignments like regular tonearms do over time. Personally, I wish companies would put these turntables back into production because they're as close to perfect as a turntable can get, imho that is. Another plus with the needle sitting perfectly in the groove is the enhanced quality of listening pleasure because the needle doesn't miss any of the groove surface. I have had it professionally cleaned and oiled twice with belt replacements both times because rubber is a natural product that degrades over time... but when you think about it, two maintenance trips over 4 decades is incredible too. Great video. It's nice to hear a solid positive review of a linear tracking turntable because for the life of me, I don't know why companies phased out such an obvious and successful innovation in turntable design.

Good video. I have three of these. I have a video of one on my channel with original RE-7070 speakers which have a woofer and tweeter, a pari of smaller Panasonic full range speakers stacked, and the original Panasonic BSR mini record changer that was optional. Like you said, it sounds like poop but it's styling a build quality make all the diffeence. I just wish Panasonic would have paid as much attention to sound quality as the did build quality with these units. A little Technics quality in these would have been appreciated.

I had a bunch of cassettes at work that I used to let clients play and I constantly had to explain how to insert the tape to people who had never seen one in person before. ...so in a sense, you're right.
