Hey y'all, I'm SuperGuy KY. I fix, make, & build all sorts of things. Come along for the ride and maybe you will learn a thing or two. I try to publish a new video before the end of every month since they are so detailed, so standby for new content.
As a kid growing up in NKY (Northern Kentucky) I was naturally curious on how things worked. So from both my Kentucky upbringing and natural mechanical curiosity I was always taking things apart to see how they worked, how could I make it better, and how would it fail if I just left it?
These will mostly be DIY videos but also some reviews and my common-sense opinion on how to properly perform some tasks.
If you want to see me try something or my opinion on it, just comment on a video and maybe I will try it out! Don't forget to like a video if it helps you out or subscribe if you'd like to see more!

Easy! Step-by-step Installation for Wayne-Dalton Model 9605 Garage Door (16' X 7')
I'm in way over my head on this one.....
My old garage door had to go y'all. There was nothing really 'wrong' with the door itself, but it was 30 years old and original to my house. The guide rollers kept falling out of the rails and I thought it best to simply replace everything. So I decided to toss & bring in a BRAND-NEW insulated garage door and all new rails, I didn't even have to mess with one of the huge exposed coiled springs during the install. Come check out how I got everything together. There's a surprise appearance, of the OG SuperGuy on this one!

Wondering if you could help me with this issue: I have a 2012 civ 130,000. I'm getting a Woooooohing sound that has very small undulations. It resembles something of a helicopter but smoother. This seems to be coming from the front driver side (it is noticeably quieter in the passenger front). I changed the bearing but that didn't eliminate the sound (bearing was definitely no good). I'm thinking about going for the CV shaft next (I know this has bearings in it). Any advice?
Any leaks doing rvt and gasket??
Hi there, I am happy to report that I have had no leaks from the RTV & gasket combo that I did in this video. I filmed this in early August of 2023 and as of this writing (December of 2024) it is still holding. There are several more videos of my truck coming (Banks Power mods, larger PPE Oil pan, tailgate repair, etc...). Thanks for watching & #KeepWrenching!
Wouldn't it have been easier on cranking up the tension on the spring to have set as you did the zero point with the door down, then manually lifted the door at least half way or more, prop it up then continued to do the 14 turns? Would have made it lighter turning on that piece of plastic. Just saying.
I see what you mean, but that's not how I've installed/tensioned garage doors before & I was following the directions from Wayne-Dalton. The plastic hex piece just snapped off on turn #2 if I remember correctly, it was just a defective part from the get-go. I had to wait an entire month for them to send me a new one. That's why I have so many pop-ups at the beginning of the video. The product was 8/10 besides that hex plastic piece popping off.
I hear ya, wasn't trying to infer that it was your fault that it broke, when I see plastic, I get this overwhelming feeling of breakage/slippage/strippage. Therefore try to outwit it.@@SuperGuyKY
i love my 2012 civic. just changed the trans fluid at 223k miles. still going strong
Happy to hear it! #KeepWrenching
Just what I needed -- thanks!
You're welcome & that's what I like to hear! Be sure to like the video and subscribe to the channel for more repair videos. I am replacing an iPhone X battery coming up soon.
@@SuperGuyKY Ordered a battery on eBay (reluctantly), but it came in a few days and actually was a Toshiba batter (at least that's what the printing on the battery indicated). Took the back off and removed the old battery -- which incidentally had literally exploded (no wonder the machine would only work when it was plugged in). Whole process took less time than your video! Thanks again.
Just picked up a '13 si with 97k miles on it so this video was immensely helpful for me too, thanks!!
Of course! My videos are meant to help everyone out, whether you just bought a 9th gen Civic or are just learning to be a DIY mechanic. I do have 1 more video coming about about this Civic (engine oil & filter change, transmission fluid change, air cabin filter, engine air filter, bleed the brake lines) as well as a few other things. It is in edit now, so stay tuned for when it comes out. #KeepWrenching
Very useful video. Good you showed the tricky frustrating bits too. In the bad old days circa 80s you’d probably change the top and bottom radiator hoses too (they used get pretty soft and squishy with age) but I suppose the list of parts you could change at that mileage is never ending once you start.
Thanks for watching & I concur with you. My Dad had an '86 Bronco 2, he replaced the radiator hoses when they softened up (~80k miles) just as you have suggested. American cars were not built very well in the 70's & early 80's, they got better with time, but certain ones were just lemons from the start.
Liked & subscribed. Thanks for this video. I have this exact model. Appreciate it.
Also, Any opinion on buying the bagger/mulch attachment? Also, Any opinion on attaching / using a snow blade or blower on this machine? (I bought it down south, Now I'm in the north... with trees & winter coming)😉
Of course, helping anyone out is my goal for all of my videos. I never bought either the mulch kit or the bagger for mine, so I don't have an opinion either way. But in my ~18 years of cutting grass, I've never been a fan of having a bagger on my mower. Mulch kits help depending on what kind of mulch you like. There is a 'generic' MTD (who manufactures Craftsman mowers) snowplow that is sold, the part # is below. From me using my Z5200 for light-duty work towing a Gorilla Cart full of mulch uphill (~10 degree grade) a few times, I would say don't buy the snow plow and just buy a snowblower, since the 20 HP engine doesn't have enough torque to push a huge amount of snow. Even warmed up & at full throttle. My Z5200 has since been sold and I have a 25 HP Bad Boy MZ Magnum now, videos on it will be coming Spring time of '25. The mulch kit ($~$81) Craftsman part # is CMXGZAMA30046, & the bagger (~$500) is Craftsman part # CMXGZAMA70054. Craftsman actually makes a snowplow/blade ($850- $900) for the Z5200, the part # is 19A70063OEM.

Hello could you make videos on Honda Civic about air bag sensor please
now that's a proper coolant flush.
Thanks! Like the video & subscribe to help out the channel!
Thermostat around 100k miles seems pretty good, but and I don't know if this is the case with Honda's, but for Subaru's water pumps usually last 180k miles or every other timing belt service. This isn't always the case, but I figured Honda would be similar? What are your personal experiences? I think around 100-120k I would re-do the thermostat as you did, it's in an easy spot too. Thanks for the video!
Actually came here to see if I could take out a good sunroof so I can properly vacuum the small leaves loads in the tracks and tryou to lubricate the transport rails. Think this is better than any other video.

Sorry to burst your bubble but my 14 civic just hit 300k and the only part that failed of all those you replaced was the belt tensioner at 208k. Just nuts to replace good japanese parts with chinese garbage before they break.
As long as it works, it works. I just knew that this car had a hard life, so I figured I would replace some of the common wear parts before handing it off to it's new owner.
@@SuperGuyKY I have had about a 30% failure rate with chinese parts. I now pay 3-4x more to get the Jap parts OEM. Tired of doing the repairs twice.
Thought it was the terminal Yayyyyyy, but....
Hey! Love this video SuperGuyKY :) I know that after you flush the engine with distilled water, there is still a good amount of distilled water remaining in the system. When you add the 50/50 coolant, would it be diluted by this water?? Just wanted to get your thoughts on this as I'm planning to follow your guide to flush my coolant. Thanks!
Hi there & glad you enjoyed the video! Since I drained the water from the radiator, overflow tank (off camera with a turkey baster), replaced the water pump, & the thermostat all after flushing the cooling system with distilled water 4x. My opinion is that there would be a minimal amount (not worth worrying about, at least I didn't) of distilled water remaining in the engine coolant orifices when I was adding the 50/50 pre-mixed Honda coolant with the spill-proof funnel. I'd go ahead and replace the thermostat if you are over 100K miles. Perhaps the water pump as well, but that is upto you. Like & share the video to help you the channel & I hope this helps!
@@SuperGuyKY Thanks for the reply and info! I will definitely like and subscribe to your awesome channel :)
Ur supposed to take a sample after do the final fill with coolant and test it to see if it’s 50/50 or not . That’s the annoying part abt doing a full flush.
Just want to say THANK YOU!!! I been looking for a video for this Civic Year for these specific maintenance. This covers just about almost everything I'm in the process to get taken care of.
Of course! I do have another video of me doing some other maintenance on this Civic coming out (changing engine oil & filter, changing the transmission fluid, bleeding the brake lines, etc.) coming out sometime in the future. Whenever I get enough time to edit it all together, I have about 14 hours of edit on this video. Like the video & subscribe to help out the channel!
Awesome video! The video Id love to see that I can’t find anywhere is: How to remove and install a new transmission for 9th Gen Civic (automatic)
do you use a jack rod? i saw it on ads make your lift jack to be also jack stand make a review video ok
As someone who changed my ac compressor from top and bottom on a car ramp. it's possible to do it without taking off the wheel. That tensioner.....ughhh.
I agree that it is possible, I would say that taking the front passenger wheel & fender liner out would make the ac compressor easier although. That tensioner & the 8 mm "nemesis" bolt.... can be a huge challenge to remove.

A nice trick an old mechanic taught me was to use a tiny pipe wrench for rounded out oil drain plugs
Hi there, I tried every trick in the book (new school & old school) but this nut refused to budge. The only thing that I could not do, is try to weld a new nut onto the end of the bolt. At the time, I did not own a welder, but I do now.
hi, do you plan on doing the valve adjustment on that civic? looking forward for that video...
Hi there! Unfortunately this Civic has been sold and has been crashed twice by it's new owner already.... So sadly I will not be making a valve adjustment video on it. If you'd like me to get a project car and tinker around with it, like some videos & subscribe to help out the channel!
I thought you only had to change the waterpump if it starts leaking!?
Hi there! Water pumps, just like all other mechanical components on any piece of equipment (cars, boats, tractors, bulldozers, etc.) experience wear & tear on them after so many cycles of use. At 24:59 in the video I spin both the old & then new impeller bearings, they are night and day different on the amount of effort to spin them. One-hundred thousand miles is a good rule of thumb to replace them in my experience, same with serpentine belts. Like & subscribe to help out the channel!
So when you were refilling the radiator with the Honda 50/50 mix, you said to fill the overflow. Did you fill it with Distilled water or the 50/50? Or does it matter?
Yes, it does matter. During the antifreeze/coolant flushes, always re-fill with distilled water. Once you have completed your final flush, then drain all of the distilled water and re-fill both the radiator & the overflow with the Honda 50/50 mix.
I would probably use anti-seize before I used loctite.
Great video!
Thanks! Like the video & subscribe to help out the channel!
Great video-just what I needed. Thank you.
Your welcome! I am currently editing the engine oil, trans fluid, brake line bleed, engine air filter & cabin air filter Civic video. Stay tuned for more!
Why did you change the alternator ?
Was reading too lower on the Amperage current return to the battery. I have another video of me swapping the battery out on the Civic as well. Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/fSHJpXSQqbs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Hch2tHVFrrqoLyAu
The oil capacity on a LML 6.6 is 10 qts incl filter.
I concur! But I just changed the filter & it holds ~1/2 quart. So I only poured 9.5 quarts at the end after I re-installed the new lower oil drain pan.
Nice... I would still snug the drain plug more than that.... Just give it a couple smacks on the ratchet handle.
Absolutely! I gave the 3/8" Drive ratchet a few smacks off-camera to make sure it wouldn't leak. The new PPE oil pan is coming soon in my future for my Duramax. It holds an extra quart, for a total of 11. Since it has a flat bottom to it, I'll also be draining all of the dirtiest oil out as well. Here's the link: www.amazon.com/High-Capacity-Aluminum-114052120-Compatible-2011-2016/dp/B07V58GHKG/ref=sr_1_1?crid=HTOWGXMI6FR9&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.oGROUFIVfsACe-dRPKqT5G8AZsWSst8ekeTFvQgEc3bGjHj071QN20LucGBJIEps.mDpv466nOz01CEo7WARnmwVBZwci2lj8tofK_98COek&dib_tag=se&keywords=114052120&qid=1720237553&sprefix=114052120%2Caps%2C284&sr=8-1
Do you have to wait in between each flush, I see you open the blue cap after each time you run the car.
Hi there! Yes, you need to wait until the thermostat opens between each flush, reason being this way you circulate the new fluid/distilled water throughout the entire cooling system, and not just the radiator. This is usually between 10-15 minutes from when you start the vehicle. I was replacing the thermostat & water pump, so I figured I would flush the antifreeze/coolant while I had those parts off. They leak all of the fluid out while replacing them anyway.
Gorilla glue won't hold that
Thank you! Is the wider part of the bridjit supposed to be toward the driveway?
Your welcome! The wider parts of the bridjits face away from the driveway. Just like the wider 'apron' portion of the driveway does towards the street. Like the video to help out the channel!
At the time of this job, I did not own a welder. I do now! 😅
Gotcha! 👍
How did you get your overflow tank to get emptied, I filled it up in the beginning and it never went down throughout the process but its filled with the distilled water?
You have to wait until the thermostat opens and all of the distilled water is moving throughout the antifreeze/cooling system. Run the vehicle for about 10-15 minutes and then pop the overflow tank cap before you open the petcock drain valve.
I would of welded a nut on top of the plug!
At the time of me doing this job, I did not own a welder. I do now!
So, if my problem is just the weather seal and that ONLY comes with the glass sunroof/moonroof, then i only need to order the glass sunroof and thats all??? I saw that you had other parts thats why i ask.
Yes. You can re-use the original fasteners & side covers for your sunroof. Just be very very careful so you do not lose them when it comes time to re-install.
part no. for the plastic grommet: Honda 70225-SDA-A01 Grommet, Screw (4MM)

@@SuperGuyKY thanks for making this video!
You even lift bro?
Can’t I just get new weather straps?
Unfortunately, no.
I tried. Those are not sold by Honda. You could just take the old sunroof out & do a very good 'tape' job on it and try that perhaps?
