“Sometimes I have loved the peacefulness of an ordinary Sunday. It is like standing in a newly planted garden after a warm rain. You can feel the silent and invisible life.”
― Marilynne Robinson, Gilead
I have wanted, always, to share the sweet and quiet things I love. Small things, beautiful things. Things that take time to grow, time to mend, time to make. For twelve years I did not have time. And then suddenly―I did.
On an ordinary Sunday, after the rain, I started making things again.

Honestly, you are one of my favorite channels on TH-cam. The way your videos are so soothing makes me feel weirdly safe, it's like listening to fairy tales in my childhood. Thank you so much for this channel and I'm looking forward to more videos in the future
Thank you so much, fairy tales in childhood is the vibe I will strive to capture from now on!!
You’re so talented!! Even my grandpa who’s an artist would be very proud and shocked by your art work!!
Ohh my grandpa is an artist too! Unfortunately the only thing he's shocked by is the amount of money I spend on art materials 😂
@@mminmakes lmao
I’ve been struggling with writer’s block for some time, and your video really honestly helped me! I like reading your thoughts while you’re working, and hearing your stories. That, and the quotes you used every so often. They really spoke to my heart. Thank you for posting this video! I hope someday the collector finds what he’s looking for.
You 🤝 Me Writer's Block Sometimes I think writing the subtitles is more difficult than making the entire miniature 😂 All the best with your writing 💕
There is something very satisfying about crushing the eggshells. My grandmother used to put crushed eggshells around her garden to stop the snails from eating all her plants and vegetables.
Oh that is smart, I must try that!
Oh my goodness. That is truly a labour of love. I adore all things miniature and have several dolls houses. But unfortunately I have never had the skill or steadiness of hand to create anything as exquisite as your creations. Truly awesome. I love your story telling and the calmness and tranquility of your videos. Your dining as a child brought back many memories for me. Especially of meals eaten in silence and not being allowed to start or leave the table until everyone else had. My youngest brother was a very slow eater and I would sometimes nudge him under the table with my foot to try to hurry him along. Until my father saw me once. I never dared do it again. And my brother is still a slow eater 😂
oh noooo not the baby brother keeping everyone at the table 😂 I laughed!! Nice to know he didn't let your nudging get to him hahaha. You're so lucky to have those dollhouses--I don't have space for any.
reading these comments as well as watching this video is making me cry. seeing everyone talking about their childhood and their happy memories is what makes me so unbelievably happy that we are on this earth. everyone has a story, and that is so beautiful to me.
literally my favourite genre is strangers' life stories under youtube videos <3 everyone does have a story!!
I'm so in love with this channel already. The build is amazing, but the commentary (is it commentary if it's written?) is lovely. I am relaxed. Also, roll-top desks are my favourite, so I was excited to see one!
Thank you so much! Roll-top desks are my favourite too :) Glad the commentary worked for you! Was debating between voiceover and subtitles, and written commentary seemed more relaxing (❁´◡`❁)
so beautiful ❤
Thank you! 😊
Absolutely stunning work! It must have been so many hours and the result is amazing ❤!
Thank you so much! It took a long time but it was worth it <3

Beautiful HUMAN BEING and beautiful artwork! I am wondering whether your mbti is INFJ❣
Aww thank you! I was an INFP when I took the test years ago 😂
Oh my goodness!! what a beautiful build! You're incredibly skilled! As an amateur miniature maker, I was wondering if you could tell me what kind of wood you used for the slightly sturdier wooden pieces. It would be great if you had a link if you bought it online. I've been trying to find a good place to buy wood for miniatures online, cause where I'm from in France I can't find anything resembling what I see on TH-cam in any of the craft or art stores. No pressure though, I understand if you're not located in Europe, or you didn't buy it online, for the time being, can't wait to see what you make next!!
Hello!! Thanks for the lovely comments <3 I live in Singapore so I feel your pain at not being able to find materials.. Here's where I got my stuff, hope it helps! 1. Table and Cabinet, 1/16" Mahogany veneer www.woodcraft.com/products/sauers-wood-veneer-pack-4-1-2-to-7-1-2-w-3-square-feet#product-details The veneer is a bit warped and needs to be wetted and pressed under something heavy before it can be used. The pieces I got have a large grain so there was some splintering too. 2. Floor, 0.5mm Walnut Veneer www.woodcraft.com/products/sauers-wood-veneer-pack-8-x-8-7-piece?variant=44272151625866 The veneer is a bit warped and fragile but I didn't bother flattening since the pieces were going to be super small anyway. Had to cut lots of extra pieces to make up for the ones that broke! 3. Chair (1/16") and Small Cabinet (1/32"), Basswood Sheets saundersmidwest.com/product/1-16%e2%80%b3-x-3%e2%80%b3-x-24%e2%80%b3-basswood-sheets/ So far this is nicest wood to work with. It's sheets, not veneer, so they're flat, smooth, and easy to cut. I can't find it for sale online anywhere though :< I heard that they call basswood, "limewood" in Europe, so maybe you can try searching for that? Alternatively, balsa wood sheets can also be used. I buy both basswood and balsa wood at a local airplane modelling shop. If there's any clubs dedicated to boat/ship/airplane modelling in your area, they usually know where to get wood sheets so try looking for those! :) 4. Library Cabinet, 1.5mm plywood sheet amzn.to/44WD9eM Plywood sheets are the easiest to find, they sell it for laser cutting/crafts at lots of places online. It's best for pieces with large flat parts. Smaller parts tend to crack, and the sheet also can't be bent/curved. I hope all that helps!! Happy crafting <3
@@mminmakes oh my goodness, this is way too kind!! you went above and beyond! Thank you so much, this is so helpful! And thank you for sharing your talent with us :))
@@breezy9579 most welcome!! you helped me realise i get way too carried away talking about whatever in the subtitles and forget to put in info about the build 😂 I'll probably neaten up that reply put it in the video description + try to include that info in future builds too💕
Where did you buy it?
Taobao, the link is in the description
I feel so at home here. So peaceful and calm. Your stories are a joy to hear.😊 I too, have dabbled with so many artistic forms. What a wonderful feeling when ones artistic experiences all come together. Your talent is immense. Your video is the best i have watched in a long time. Thank you for sharing.👍subbed.❤
Thank you so much for the sub, and for watching and leaving such a lovely comment. Whatever artistic form you're pursuing right now, I wish you happy crafting!
You can definitely learn first from people doing real furnitures. It is not far from what i can see here and you'll have the basis. That said i'm getting curious about those books
Ohh for sure, I'd love to take some classes in full size furniture! The miniature furniture books I was thinking of were these in particular: 1.The art of making furniture in miniature by Harry Smith 2. Making miniature furniture by John Davenport 3. Make Your Own Dolls' House Furniture by Maurice Harper
@@mminmakes u don't even need classes. Looking at some videos is more than enough ! Ty for the books, i'll look into it. Found some in my language as well
why do pictures of yoda keep appearing?
Yoda says "do or do not, there is no try," so when I am struggling he motivates me to finish whatever I'm working on 😂
For applying glue, one thing you might try is a 'silicone brush', it looks like a fan brush but solid silicone instead of bristles. Hobby stores tend to sell them around where they stock casting epoxy and resin supplies. Similar premise to what a woodworker might use; though the larger tool looks more like a big basting brush or paint roller. Upside is the flexible head makes it easier to spread out a nice thin and even layer of glue; and the silicone means you can peel the glue right off so cleaning the brush is a cinch. I have even used this with epoxy in the past, and there are these clay tools that are like mini versions of this, they also work so long a they're silicone. They might be good for when you need to glue up really tiny pieces. Also just another note since you mentioned how the wood glue is gritty - an old carpenters trick is to add salt to your glue; the added grit keeps pieces from sliding around when clamped up. No idea what Elmers glue uses, but it's doubtless why they add grit.
Thank you, this is wonderfully helpful!! I've got to keep an eye out for those silicone brushes. I tried using toothpicks but the glue does build up and it seemed wasteful to keep using new ones. I hate cleaning brushes and palettes so peeling the glue off sounds like a dream. I do prefer the gritty texture of that wood glue over regular white glue! Makes sense to have it with bit of 'grip' so things don't slide around when you apply pressure.
@@mminmakes If you can't find the kind of brush I mentioned, you could maybe use a silicone spatula (like for frosting); I've occasionally seen small ones that wouldn't be too inconvenient to use. You could also always modify the spatula; cutting it to a more useful size or shape. I did something similar with a basting brush, cutting the bristles shorter so they didn't flop glue everywhere Best of luck, and good work!
Wow fantastic work ❤
Thanks a lot 😊
@@mminmakes you are welcome
I've been recommended this video so much this past month. I ignored it think I'd watch it later. I coincidentally watched the Collector's video earlier this morning, and this so happens to be the Lady's part. I just procrastinated myself up a sequence. 😂
Oh nooo hahahha the way I laughed at your comment... Thanks for finally giving the collector and the lady a watch!! 😂💕
@@mminmakes Your videos are mesmerizing! Thank you for such calm and beautiful art. 🩵
I was a creative little child and I loved to try all sorts of new ways to create. We couldn’t afford much so my mom would take me to Hobby Lobby and we would go straight back to the clearance section and I would get to choose one thing to take home. Right beside the clearance section, tucked away in its own little magical corner, was all of the miniature dollhouse items. I always dreamed of being able to afford to make miniatures as a hobby. It’s hard for me to work with miniatures now because of my unsteady hands, but I still love to watch others work. Absolutely gorgeous and I thank you for sharing your creations with us. It is like coming home ❤
Thank you for the sweet comment! I would've loved to look at little miniature dollhouse things but we never had a shop like that where I live. I'm glad you enjoyed the video 💕

Hello, I absolutely love this library it is stunning! I had one question and I'm sorry if you mentioned it elsewhere but where do you get your basswood? I haven't been able to find 1/32" basswood pretty much anywhere
I get them from a local art store, the brand is "Midwest" so maybe you could try searching for that!
The Saga Seed reminds me of what we local kids before called 'Black Hearts'. They are black peas with a perfect heart shape at the center and students would often forage those to give them to their crushes. I had forgotten about that already and got reminded because of what you mentioned. An almost forgotten memory from my childhood was awakened.
Aww that's such a cute story. I love all these little childhood tales!! ❤️
my elementary school's pavilion had footprints on the ceiling too. They were just the boot prints of one of the builders who walked into something before crossing the plywood during its construction, but we liked to theorize that maybe it was a ghost walking upside down. I wonder if the builder knows their signature is still there?
Oh my gosh that's so funny. I've read that there's something similar in some temple ceilings in Japan, because they reused the floors of another house!
La visione di questo lavoro è stata un viaggio bellissimo ❤
Thank you so much! 💕
2:29 I understood that reference! 7:46 😂😂😂 12:06 I've wanted a collector's cabinet since I read Pippi Longstocking ❤

Omg... I don't know why this popped up in my algorithm, but someone else who finds stickers to be stressful?! I'm the same way! Stickers are usually an impulse buy for me and I never know what to do with them. 😅
Right?! Hahaha I still have the rest of that sheet of stickers... haven't stuck them on anything else 😂
@mminmakes I can never use them! It's a nightmare 😅 Like what if it's a sticker that I really like, right? What do I do then? Lol ADHD and OCD sucks when they team up on me
