He really challenged the Captain to a duel, lost, and had the audacity to think that they would immediately take him back, and even beg him to come back, and that he could extort them into getting what he wanted instead taking responsibility and apologizing. If the Strawhats weren't already leaving, I guarantee you he would have tried that shit, and botched his entire chance of coming back, all becausehe didn't want to take accountabilityfor his actions and instead try to manipulate his so-called friends. It's only after he thinks it's too late does he finally learn. This behavior is exactly why I dislike Usopp as a character.
