Apple Tree Bark and Whip and Tongue Grafting Update!
Hello I have 30 seedlings growing now.
Nice work! Save a lot because some will be male and some female
@thechaosgardener yes I will.. I hear the males are harder to keep alive is this right?
In a pot they are hard to keep alive. I feel like putting them in the ground with mulch is the easiest way to
@@thechaosgardener yea I plan to put up like growing grapes.. good to know not to use pots for male plants. Thank you for a great video.
Thanks for the support! Means a lot to me to know people are watching and benefiting
Lmao zespri gonna sue you lol search up about how it’s illegal to grow these and stuff it’s silly hey
Salam, I'm from Indonesia. I'm growing raspberries and blackberries in a tropical climate. I'm going to try out the propagation method you showed, I had no clue about it before. Thanks, and all the best to you!
Guys it actually works?? I used Moso Bamboo seeds from amazon and 10/60 germinated (and some more, but I'm not sure yet) which is not bad for bamboo! (I accidentally left them in the fridge for 3 weeks) thank you very much for this trick!!
This is an update from this cutting th-cam.com/video/Y_fwaWkjlJw/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
Well done! I haven't had any success yet, but I'll keep at it
1 Year Update! th-cam.com/video/jwhnhrlntvo/w-d-xo.html
Great info.
I don't know where any crab apple trees are at. I guess I'm going to have to start searching and see if I can stumble upon some. Thanks
Sometimes you can promote suckering of a grafted apple tree and clone the rootstock clones that sucker up. In my opinion local wild type varieties are best. Seek or iNaturalist marks gps locations of plants so you might be able to identify the location of a plant you want to “clone”. Just be careful about trespassing :) I found a local passiflora incarnata at a local park using this method and was able to forage some fruit (and seeds)
@@thechaosgardener I'm going to be on the lookout for fruit trees and stuff to graft. Loving your content and the channel.
Were you able to grow them?
Yeah they sprouted. I had 3 sprouts/seedling vines. I sold that house in 2022 and got more land.
Pretty colors!!
Thanks so much for the video! A conversation with a friend just went to the topic of honeysuckles and I wasn't sure how to get the nectar out. I'm not sure if I've ever even seen one...
Absolutely wild to me that you’re gardening on light colored carpet. You are unstoppable and should be proud. lol
Haha yeah that was dangerous. Not recommended. It was an experiment. At the time I made this video none of my videos was getting more than 10 or so views so I was experimenting with how to “hit the algorithm”
Can you process the berries into syrup with some twigs? Is that safe?
I have a manual cranked juicer that separates the juice. You don’t want the seeds or the twigs
They foul up the flavor and make it taste like Kale. I don’t think it would necessarily be unsafe in small amounts after cooking but it will make it taste bad at least.
what is the best month to take the cuttings and what is the latest month you can plant cloned hydrangeas in the ground after they have rooted in kansas city zone 6B
I did mine in June and it worked great. I bet you can do it anytime if you take the cuttings indoors
Great info babe!!!!
Thank You for the numerous great-value details! Multi-flower potential from each bulb. Wow!
Nice. I made one of the cattle panel greenhouses years ago. It's very sturdy and can support some weight on top like snow . I will say in the summer greenhouses get way hot if not good enough air flow. I had over 125 degrees some days in there. I have a door on one side and a window on the other. Good luck.
Thanks, yeah I’ll probably leave the door open in the summer. It’s also shaded in the summer by a black walnut tree that loses its leaves in the winter and lets a lot of light in. I’m hoping that helps balance the summer sun
I need the green ones for medical reasons
I use kangkong in my pond too and it keeps my pond water clean! They grow so fast in my pond and we cook some of it and grows back lol I am from Philippines and we used to eat it there for almost nothing. Now I live in Ohio and used to think kangkong is expensive here in the US. Now I can grow as much as I want during summer ☺️
Nice! It’s grows great in aerogardens as well. I love it. Not sure why it’s not more popular here.
Nice job. 8"? Happy Monday
Oops thanks :) nice catch. It’s fixed
this was so eye opening. thank you my friend
Excellent video! Thanks.
Wowza
Wow with no gloves 🧤 on? You’re a Boss!!!
Just have to be careful not to touch my eyes 😂
@ that’s one lesson I learned the hard way 😆
I was shocked too.... WOW!!!!!
❤hi man, how's the lantana❤
Great!
Do you sell your seeds? I would like to try that variety in my cold zone.
Only locally. I don’t like dealing with shipping. I’m in Missouri
Everything that I hear about this plant is mainly negative. 🤔😮🤔 This is the first time something positive about this plant when consuming it . 🤔 I heard that it is toxic for humans and pets to consume any part of it . 😮 There are many different things in the internet claiming it is toxic vand claiming it has medical purposes don't know what to believe . 🤔 Beautiful for nature and beautiful for hummingbirds . 🙂😃🙂 As long as you cut them back and don't let them overgrow they should be fine and do not grow where your dogs can get to it . 🤔🐕🤔 Planning to grow a few got some seed pods from a neighbor . 🤔
I think it depends on the person. If you have a lot of allergies be careful. Don’t eat the flowers just drink the nectar. Tomato and potato plants are both highly toxic but we eat the fruit from tomatoes and tubers from potatoes.
This gives me so many ideas now. Thanks
The outside also works as a iodine
As a pigment for sure, just not as a sterilizing agent.
Another good informative video. Thanks for sharing
Appreciate the support!
Perfect. This is exactly what I’m looking for. Thanks
This is exactly what I’m wanting to do to some Bradford pears growing on a fence line.
Really good tutorial. I have some Bradford pear trees I'm going to try grafting soon.
Good luck. Let me know if you need any advice or anything. I have a few other videos on here of some Bradfords and the growth results. I got a few huge Asian pears on one of them this year. The others are growing great but haven’t fruited yet. I’m expecting a lot of fruit next year.
Yes I’ve been watching those videos too. I will watch more when I can find time. I’m interested in your tools and supplies. Love the tool belt setup. Imagine that’s very handy in the field. Gotta do some shopping for stuff now.
Hehe yeah it helps. I usually just use a toolbox but I decided to use the belt for the video to be more organized
@@thechaosgardener Almost everything I’m grafting is in a field so a tool belt might be ideal unless I can find something else I already have that would work.
I really appreciate the temp info! Here in Houston Texas. It's 89°.... Was hoping to sprout a casava like a yam/ potato but no such info on that. Maybe l will have to order some stem same as you. It will be another garden milestone when l get some in the ground. My milestone this year is Giant Golden Amaranth and Pyrethrum daisy. Other surprises and successes, but the 1st year crops are always so satisfying. Thanks for the tutorial. 🌱
So excited for cherry blossoms in the spring.
Great roots. Have you heard of the Bursa pomegranate variety?
Nope haven’t heard of it. Any good?
Wow I am going to try this method❤
❤ Let me know how it turns out for you!
Can you please tell me how can I found water chestnuts in Florida.?
Chinese/oriental grocery stores sell fresh water chestnuts you can plant. Be careful they can be invasive in tropical areas
@@thechaosgardener but I googled it said In Florida it is prohibited item.
That means it’s illegal. Probably because it plugs up waterways and grows better than native species
You can still find it at oriental markets
Nice work! Im grafting a bunch of scions onto about 5 pacific crabapple trees aka Swamp Crab
Nice! It’s hard to explain how exciting it is to see them grow to people who have not grafted their own trees. Let me know how they turn out!
@thechaosgardener I agree with you. I'm very excited especially as a new grafter and how amazingly fast the scions grow on an established tree. Just pre ordered another 55 scions. Happy grafting to you.
this is exactly what I do :)
Super cute!
She ate so many. Is no one feeding her while I’m gone. 🤣
She is the cutest.
Wow! That's a huge amount of growth! Yes, I'm inspired... I just need to find some neighbors with scion wood.
What is your planter called How long did it take cool video
Aerogarden. I linked it above. Thanks! 😊
How cool!
VERY cool, I can't believe how thick those grants/scions got I remember the video when you first did them. Well done 😁
Thanks! I know right!? Hopefully I get fruit next year.
Nice. Was this cane growing in actual full all day sun?
Yes, full Arizona sun 5 inches of mulch
Hi! I literally just got an Aerogarden. I know this is probably a stupid question but do you just fill it with water or do you add anything else? Also, if yes, how often do you change it? Thanks
Just add water when it gets low. Sometimes you need to add nutrient depending on a lot of variables. Make sure you read up on it. Dissolved solids can build up if you’re using tap water so you’ll want to change the water every 3 months or so
@@thechaosgardener thank you. Did I see you mention fish fertilizer? Should I add that? I definitely have it.
@catherinevelez8049 I add 5 ml of 5-5-5 once a week.
5-1-1 works fine too. Once you have more mature plants you can do up to 10ml once a week. I have a device that lets me measure dissolved solids so I sometimes go a little higher but I get super nerdy with my water testing. The safest thing is to just stick to 5ml once a week
