Chinese Cars Are Gaining Market Share in Argentina
Host Derek Spartz noticed on his recent trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina that Chinese car companies are starting to make an impact in market share in the South American country. The U.S. is mostly off limits for these automakers but they are finding ways to get their vehicles across the ocean and onto the roads. See what was found on the streets of Buenos Aires now.

Argentina Carspotting: American Cars That Never Made it to the U.S.

Host Derek Spartz noticed very few "cool" cars on his trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina... but did find it interesting that they got a ton of models from American car brands that never made their way state side. Check out all the models from American carmakers like Chevy, Ford and Dodge that were made for outside the U.S. Any you think should have made the cut to be sold in the U.S.? Let us know ...

Host Derek Spartz goes over the all-new for 2024 Kia Sorento. Kia's Telluride was a huge hit and great SUV for the Korean automaker, so can the next size down model hold up the brand to these high standards? Overall, Kia has a great design on it's hands but the vehicle is lacking in one very important driving factor - the base engine is extremely underpowered to handle the weight of this SUV. D...

@@Rick-h4u maybe you got a lemon because I experienced none of that - car was amazingly smooth for the price point
We've had one rear wheel bearing go bad in the 165k miles we've owned it. And, Petrolectric, this car is not an in-town cruiser only. We've driven many ~1000mi trips. Other than the wheel bearing, we've had ZERO other problems.

My Edge SELis 2020: I could've got a 2024 but I didn't because they put buttons...the controls are in the screen and that SUCKS (and I'm not the only one who hates it). Mine does have the power lift gate w/ foot control, and I love it. I hate the giant screen. Heated seats, htd steering wheel....I realized some of the new Edges don't have the side mirror turn signals. Yes, it hauls a** when you want. Personally, I think Ford made a HUGE mistake by discontinuing it! They should've made it hybrid...Ford just lost my business 😒. Side note: for $40K, they could've made the turn signals quieter...😂
@@tamararohlin4128 I think the big screen thing has hopefully plateaued as we see some cars bringing buttons back a little. Cars now are legally required to have a turn signal in the mirror or near it on the body so not sure what you’ve seen - maybe they tweaked the mirror design and it’s harder to see the light?
Terrible ass selection.
Thank you soo much
0 to 60 on 5.7 seconds is the difference....not sure what hes talking about
@@THIR60Y maybe in the Turbo SR model certainly not on this car
It actually makes sense to nix the Edge. People with a tight budget will buy a Ford Escape. If you have a little money to buy and Edge, you might as well buy the Explorer. Otherwise the Edge is just a slightly larger more expensive Escape.
@@timjones9128 true I just wish they made the explorer without the 3rd row, at least as a no cost option. It’s a waste of space for people like me.
I agree 😅
I'm sticking to Avis and Enterprise
If this is a flaw Toyota needs to be notified to fix this. Not reporting it to the rental agency is wrong and may be blamed on someone else.
@@johnk5148 seems to be a problem for many Toyota owners. Unfortunately rental car companies give no f**** and will gladly charge the current renter so had to do what I had to do. Also no reason to think that fender isn’t still holding strong today after the repair

Got a 2020 Edge and it seems decent. It does show it age on the infotainment area and the instrument cluster. But it doesn’t make sense to discontinue it after the 2024 year. Could have seen them offer an electric or hybrid option and be an improved version but still a “younger brother” to the Corsair.
@@fordjw111 there’s a new Edge out that got great reviews, Ford just has nowhere to build it in North America.
I don't know what Altima he has but i have the 2023 SL, you do feel the difference in how the car behaves while driving and you feel the slight jolt in power. Of course you don't feel it while in park mode lol
I’m aware how they work, Jsut saying sport mode on a CVT is not much of a difference especially on the Altima compared to other cars
2:28 Its Corsa Classic. As you said, most of these are cheap cars, not made for more "demanding" markets like the US, so thats why you guys dont see these cars there. We usually call the "Mercosur" made cars Death coffins with wheels down here. The Astra is pretty cool by the way, but consumes a lot for the HP that it has, so it doesnt have sense, better alternatives in the market.
@@sebaas97z thanks for the insight! And yeah between the build/safety quality and the driving styles down there - good luck in an accident 😬. And agree that Astra was pretty cool!
😅😅😅😂😂😂
The streets look really nice actually, very dense and walkable. Concrete looks a little decrepit, probably because the cities don't have a lot in their budget, but overall Buenos Aires looks super interesting!
Loved it, great city & highly recommend! But yes, be careful on those sidewalks, lots of open holes and trip points & don’t expect cars to stop for pedestrians!!

I don't know why Ford is killing the edge off when you literally see 25 or more everyday on the road! I mean they are everywhere!!
@@user-unionwrestling I mean if you watched the video you’d know why 😂
@petrolectric I know why, but like you said....... it's an odd decision? So I'm still perplexed as to the financial logic behind Ford's decision? 😆😂🤔
@ I’m confident if Ford had a place to build the new Edge in North America they certainly would. The new Edge is doing well in Asia.
That’d be so much fun😮
my '23 SV rental was a very livable little car but fairly big on the inside. the seats were flat and tolerable for long trips, needed more lumbar support though. the ride quality was decent over most roads but choppy on segmented pavement or lumpy pavement. road noise was very well suppressed for this class of car, even coarse pavement was filtered out well. wind noise was moderate. overall NVH was pretty good considering the price. the only question mark is the durability of the CVT over time, if it could make it over the 100k mark or not without an overhaul.
@@ivanwashington3186 yeah that’s exactly what I thought. 0-100k miles I think this is a great choice and huge value
My 2009 Mercedes B200 Turbo is very similar in size. I love its size and practicality. Mine is full of dings, scratches, and hail damage. Unfortunately, they don't sell them in the U.S.. So when it dies, I will probably get a ten year old Ford C-Max.

The Auto Union wasn't really the precursor of Audi. Audi already existed before. The company logo of the Auto Union with the intertwined four rings symbolized the merger of the four brands Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer, which, however, remained independent. The Auto Union began in 1932. After WW2 only DKW of the Auto Union survived, was bought by Mercedes (Daimler-Benz AG), later in the 1960ies sold to Volkswagen. They launched the brand "Audi" again, based on the last "big" DKW F102 with a longer front and a 4-Cylinder 4-Stroke engine, which beginnings had been developed by Daimler-Benz. Visit the "August-Horch-Museum" in Zwickau, Germany.
@@wilhelmignis1314 thanks for the info! So many car brands to research that went out of business or merged. Very interesting era I wanna learn more about soon.
Wanderer later combined with DKW to form Auto Union, the precursor to Audi. Interestingly, most of the Brass Era cars shown are eligible for the London to Brighton Emancipation Run, held every November in London.
@@FlashDriveFilms great info thanks! I’d be interested to learn more about cars from this era, lots of parallels to today’s landscape with new EV brands trying to break through. And I’ve seen the London to Brighton run before - looks super fun!
