I disagree about getting acoustic first before electric, electric is easier and way more fun, I gave up on acoustic a decade ago and just picked it up again but on electric and actually progressed from starting on that instead 😁 but that’s me anyway, no one attack me pls 🤣

Steve Martin learned banjo by slowing down the speed on old 78's and going over and over till he got it. He is self taught and a master at his craft. That's why I have a lot of respect for bass players.

Bunch of haters dude is just trying to give some good advice that helped him advance I've been playing for 10 years and I suck there's nothing worse than being stuck but I keep trying at least I can play some Beatles and Neil Young. And don't go online making comments talking like I play like Frank.

Rocksmith is my go to game when chilling at home. I recommend it to people who have audio interface and electric guitar

I started when I was 17 and it did become a chore at some point and quit!! now im back it 20 yrs later. Now with tech age im finding it much easier to stick to it with all the info out there at my fingertips

I’m right handed but need a left handed guitar because i just cant get comfortable with a right handed guitar

The biggest tip I ever got was just have fun. If you don't intend to be making a living off of it, as long as you're having fun, you're doing good. I'm not particularly good at fingerpicking, and I can't really do any scales - at least not sounding good. But I don't care. Because that's not what I want to play. I want to play songs that I like, which mostly involve strumming chords and singing. And if you're having fun you'll improve just by playing, and you'll want to play. You want to have fun!

You tube and songster are amazing resources, but also chordify has been a nice resource where songster doesn't have the song and I'm not in the mood to learn a song with a tutorial :-) also I do think depending on what kind of music you like, it might be better to get an electric guitar with a cheap amp. For me I was always way more into music with electric guitars, so it was more fun to learn in the beginning with the instrument I actually wanted to play

You are right about acoustic even with classical, i had a squire affinity and a fender strat and affinity was more comfortable on my hands. When i was 14 to 17 now im 31. Spent 2000 euros in equipment, amp pedals i went in the end to ukulele and never turn back. I bought an enexpensive acoustic pickup and distort my sound in my amp. Also ukulele is more comfortable than an electric guitar in my hands classical is also comfortable, don't buy fancy stuff nobody will give your money and time back. Notes and techniques are the same.

Hey bro is it ok to play fingerstyle on my acoustic guitar(metal strings) instead of classical guitar(nylon strings)?

Anyone got any tips on what to play? I wanted to learn to play other side from Red Hot Chili Peppers but I suck at moving my fingers that quick down to up and my skills on muting are also terrible, anyone have any advice?

I had guitar lessons for two or so years while in high school. I kept one of my guitars and now, at 29, I’ve decided to pick it up again. I’m using Yousician because I absolutely need structure - I wish I could do it on my own with TH-cam and what not, but I just need everything in one place and telling me what to do. The app is really cool so far and it’s crazy how the muscle memory is there. This was really helpful! Love the looper tip.

As a self-taught pianist (I’m very, very bad lmao) I want to learn Guitar to improvise and also play songs on without carrying the bad habits of which I’ve developed with the piano. This video has been thus far very useful on what not to do when learning self-taught guitar. Wish me luck! :D
