    Big indicator this company cuts corners is the guy said this spline is good and I should be able to reuse it! When you replace window screens the spline should always be replaced because they become brittle and can eventually fail

    Lots of opportunity. I tried to have mine done and took them to a glass company who used to do my customers when I owned a window cleaning company. He can't find screeners and he pays $20 per hour. Took them to a company he recommended and there is a 4 week turn around time. I did it myself in 2 hrs and it got my wheels turning. I want to start a small company and train my son so he can pay his way through college and learn how to be an entrepreneur when the time comes. He's 13 and asked me today, "Dad, when can we get started"?

    Undercharging for your work leads to poverty. If you want to be cheap, go 20% or less for normal pricing. If you doubled your price, you'd have about the same amount of biz but be making twice as much. My unprofessional guess is your biz is not sustainable. Good vid and best of luck to you. 👍

    I knew a young man who had the highest prices in the entire area. BUT he did excellent work, presented a professional appearance, told the customers when he would arrive and when he would finish. * his professional appearance and demeanor put customers at ease. * his excellent workmanship reinforced his professional appearance. * people could count on him to be in to a job when he said he would be there, and be finished and out of everyone’s way when he said he would be gone or even earlier. The reason contractors used him is, they could trust him without supervision, and he would be on time. His timeliness is what got him all the jobs. His appearance, demeanor, and excellent work, kept him in repeat business. Punctuality is a tough lesson for people to learn. Price is ONLY an issue, all things being equal. Arrive on time, talk very little on the job. Maintain a professional appearance in ALL things, no profanity, or smoking, (this can cost you a LOT of business), ALWAYS be on time, be on time, be on time, and be on time! You are primarily a service business. Appearance is everything, and so, you have a job on your hands. Always charge at the very top of the market, only charge at the top of the market IF YOU DELIVER! If you are late, even once, it will be a severe set-back.

I also don't know a service of any kind that is in home that does not have a minimum that starts at $100 just to show up to a customers driveway,. So know way should there be s $30 entry on your spreadsheet.

      Oh my goodness! I am reading a book on tithing right now, "The Blessed Life" by Robert Morris. I was going to make a video on this. But yes and no I have struggled with this one due to currents culture trends of commercialism in churches in America and I guess also having control over seeing an impact on what and who I give to. I believe in giving and blessing others. The tithe is biblically not just about money, it can also mean your time or other things to take care of God's people. Right now I tithe my time via a Christian soccer league. Thank you for sharing this. God sends certain ppl your way to hit the message home and you just did that. Once I fully dedicate to a church home again, I will definitely start giving my first. I have been attending church just not sure if I am in the right place right now. Been doing this side gig since 2012. Tip #1- since gray screen is normally harder to strip, use an o-ring pick to remove spline. #2- A piece of 3/4x4x4 plywood with a piece of 1/4” masonite on top set on top of a couple of Harbor Freight folding saw horses. I have tons of other tips if you’re interested. Good video!

      @@superatech WD-40 can also help getting gray screen to “turn loose”. Original screen frame has an outward bow to help eliminate “hourglassing”. Old frames lose this so if you not using a “frame track” to keep it square, press down on the new fabric as you’re splining so that the frame doesn’t “bow in”.

      @@zbrown2344 unfortunately, my only training course is trial and error. I always tried to stay with Primeline parts and Phipher wire. I tried buying screen on Amazon ONCE. It was terrible. My local DoItBest hardware store was the easiest, not always the cheapest, but easiest place to buy. I think Ace is the same way. I could order by Monday noon, and pick it up on Thursday morning. My contact would always stay on top of my order just in case something was out of stock. If you’re serious about getting into it and have the space, Wakefield has a great system for saving your hands/thumbs. I’ve retired because of arthritis in my thumbs/palms. (Caused by doing many thousands of screens). If that table had been available when I started, l would’ve definitely invested in one! BTW, most of your hardware stores and independent building supply stores don’t offer this service, which is a great place to start.

    Hey man I love it but I think you’re leaving money on the table. ACE hardware charges at least $25 per rescreen and you have to bring it to them and go pick them up. I know you’re trying to be value based but this doesn’t seem like a great deal for you. By the time you drive there and back you’re not really profiting much, you could easily double your prices and still be the cheapest in town. I’m a window cleaner and I started offering this at $35 per rescreen and at least $60 for a build and have zero pushback. You may also want to look in to window cleaning, for under $1k you could be rolling making $100+ per hour!

    • @AMNationMedia
      @AMNationMedia 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Tyler. We are still profiting, most clients right now are in a 5 to 10 mile radius so I have not branched out far yet. I hope to cover the rest of the city once I have a team of 2 -3. Yes I agree with increasing my prices, first I want enough referrals and positive feedback from customers on Facebook and Google reviews so I am keeping it low to attract the attention for now. This summer I think I will bump up to $25 to $30. I will also consider window cleaning, just not willing to invest in the tools just yet. I want to keep my business simple, we only focus on one thing for right now. Thank you for your comment and watching the video, I appreciate you Tyler!

      I can’t remember how much cheaper because this was years ago. It’s a rider to your coverage and the payment is rolled into your premium. It’s worth looking into especially for newer cars. I had a Passat and my tie end rods had to be replaced, I paid for the repair to the shop and Geico reimbursed me directly, minus the deductible.
