Abuse in the Church: Challenging wrong responses
มุมมอง 2423 ปีที่แล้ว
I am joined by my Pastor as we talk about abuse in the Church, how Churches should deal with abuse, in particular sexual abuse. We think through: what does the bible say about abuse, why abuse should have no place in the Church and challenge some of the ways the cover up of abuse in Church is justified using the bible. The Charity I reference at the start which I have launched is called Restore...

Is there somewhere we can look for security and assurance when life looks uncertain? I believe there is and I share a few thoughts on the hope that Jesus brings to this and why that is reassuring.

That was good
A Pastor hit on me when we first meet . I had a girl friend , she was not keen to come along to the church . Unfortunately she did come along . Some time later my friend was going to give her Testimony, my friend and I were going though a final briefing , my friend asked me for a peace of choclate, Next minute the pastor was in our face , upsetting my friend , and abusing her for wanting choclate ! I found the pastor extremely abusive and controlling , I left the church shortly thereafter, after an elder created a lot of trouble. Unfortunately my friend fell under the pastors " spell" Progressively she has turned my friend against me , breaking up our friendship of many years . One day after we started going to the church , The Pastor arrived , without first arranging an appointment, She came along with gaggle of other ladies from the church . The pastor starting going though everything thing in the flat , making judgement. ( At this point neither my girlfriend and myself were not church members) She went into our bedroom, without out asking , casting " Judgement" This was extreme and totally unacceptable. The pastor had been a Christian for most of her life , with little real world experience. We found this to be very intrusive and uncalled for. She the Pastor is power crazy, many people have come to the Church, few have stayed . The way the pastor went about tuning my girlfriend against me , taken her five years . My girl friend, was smart Intelligent, open minded ,real fun girl . Now she is almost like Robo Christian, pastor done a real brainwashing , putting the spell on her . I miss my girlfriend, she taught me much , as I taught her " Brainy Chick " I miss her !
First mistake: female "pastor". This goes totally against the word of God, and He knows best. Leadership in the church is for men, and even then certain qualities are necessary. Find a biblical church, and believe me I know how hard it is these days. Pray for God to show you where to go. I'm sorry that happened. Church abuse is rampant because most churches do not follow God's word for leadership. Read 1 Timothy 3 Titus 2
Stop telling the pastor everything
What will be the cutting point G9 2024?
Most follow Pastor
Luke 22:25-26.
If we don't forgive, God doesn't forgive us. Obviously this is not saying that it's okay to let people abuse us either. But we still have to have forgiveness and we don't have to associate with our abusers. But we do have to be forgiving as far as not holding grudges.
Am so happy ur talking about my dream school
Great insight. I appreciate this. It's very refreshing
All true. Regarding control, another one im encountering is the signing of a man made covenant. These are usually vague. People need to ask themselves who decides what constitutes a violation. And realize, signing this unnecessary covenant is legally binding !
You sound like my Scottish daughter-in-law.
Powerful. This is an amazing song
When you have a problem in a church, all you can do is leave.
The perfect church on Earth does not exist and you cannot make the perfect church. If you can prove me wrong and find this church DO NOT JOIN IT!!! If you do you will spoil it.
Its been since 2019 and im still not over it
Satanism practices self, selflove and self empowerment.
I was just having this conversation about cultures with a friend. Each culture is man made according to our ethnicity .It doesn't make it truth , for instance in Mexican culture we celebrate day of the dead. Chinese celebrate Chinese New Years . When in all reality we were all made to worship the 1 true living God and live by the Lords creed , not culture. But because of sin . We stand divided and say, we do things this way and in your culture you do things that way. when God clearly didn't intend us to live like that when he put Adam & Eve in the garden. So culture ain't truth. Yes some culture is fun to partake in but it's not something we should live by. Blaze 1 Hunnit!!💯💯💯💯
Amen 👑
Thank you 🙏🏼 💕
Thank you for this🙏❤️
I’ll be leaving soon! I am not happy at all!
Thank you so much for this video, it is very insightful and helpful
You have articulated this so well. A lot of these things were the norm in the church I used to attend. Thankfully I no longer go there and have found a healthier church community
Sad…this woman is completely wrong. And she’s wrong because she’s not addressing the entire truth about leadership. She says the Bible is not taught “properly.” She’s already misrepresented one verse.
What about a church that is constantly fighting and the members can't get along enough to accomplish things and you feel uncomfortable because if you befriend anyone, you might be seen as taking a side? Great theology but stuck in old unproductive patterns. I am the youngest adult left there. Membership has drastically dwindled.
ALL Churches are Toxic. 👍 Why do we need a Church to Fast, Worship, Pray and READ the word? If the church DOESN'T do REGULAR Deliverance - Its NOT a Church; But rather a Community Building - Liken to a Book Club In Book clubs people speak about a Book and their passion for the Books they are reading MOST churches are the exact same thing. People Need Healing and Deliverance. Church should be a Building of Prayer and Healing. NOT A Place of Entertainment and Pompous Ego Stroking. It should be a Place of Ministry and Help for those in Need. Its PRIMARY focus should be On Helping Those in the Congregation in any which way they need. If the church LOOKS like the world and behaves like the world - It is OF the world. If the Church doesn't go out in Public and preach and evangelize with its congregation. Its NOT A church its just a Cult Building. THIS is what MOST churches are.
Things change when the pastor is a narcissist.
Thank you for your video. Everything you’ve discussed is exactly what happened when my mom tried to make me be a Mormon. It was one of the most abusive, horrific experiences I’ve ever been through. I’m now in therapy and honestly, I feel like I can’t go back to churches at all. I know it’s because I didn’t know about Christianity more first, but it was so awful, I feel traumatized. No one helps you and they won’t answer any questions about basically everything and just gaslight as soon as you point out any inconsistency. They also show up to your property and try to compel you into contact, even when you ask to just be left alone. I wish so much my first serious church experience wasn’t like this. It’s definitely spiritual warfare.
very helpful❤️
Hello! I am trying to get a transcript from the school. Who may I contact by email? Thank you!
I needed this
I so badly needed this. Thank you for your wisdom! It helped me out of something I've been struggling with for months. Thank you!
This video is so good! I work a strong 12-step recovery program in my daily life that is hand in hand with my Lord Jesus christ. He does not sanctify me daily so I become the best version of myself people. He sanctifies me and recovers me daily because I need to be free to minister to someone at a deeper level and have more access of my mind and his joy and his love moving through me to bring all the glory to God and show the truth to somebody who is deceived like I was. So he keeps sanctifying me because I worship and thank him and I praise him every day and in return He is steams me back. That is the love of god! I don't need to radically self love myself which is a new age belief. I just need to radically love God and desire to know him more each day for the benefit of his kingdom.
This is beautiful. Thank you so much, I'm playing it for my mother while she's on her hospital bed. It is her favourite hymn.
❤️ yourself , others and God
I think the problem you didn't really address is how many people are struggling with mental health, depression, and addiction because of self-hatred and self-worthlessness. We as Christians do need to address why people are super addiction to just about everything. Telling them to go love others when they are so broken themselves is a problem. Jesus was speaking to people who were plotting His murder when he said that and in an indirect way calling them out for their lack of love. They would never plot their own murder or set a trap for themselves. This still opens the door for the conversation, what about those Christians who absolutely hate themselves and wish their own death...? How to we council and help those people in the church who sing worship songs, love Jesus, and yet wish their own death?
Don't we need to appreciate and support the growth and happiness of the creature (self) that he created? Not everyone seeks best for themselves. I thought that is self sacrifice.
Spot on sis!
Thank you I have been struggling a lot lately.. I’m 29 and identify as lesbian nobody has to teach me right from wrong God is dealing with me.. I just don’t feel the same anymore feel like I’m at a cross road I have never been one with a high self esteem…I pray it gets better and most of all GOD bless you!!!!! I❤
Don't let the enemy decieve you. Satan is real and he tries to convince people that they are lesbian or gay because he hates Kingdom marriage. Read 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 in the Bible for yourself. "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
Homosexual activities is clearly a sin you need to repent
This is so important! We have to stay vigilant and have lots of discernment going to and choosing a church! 🙌🏻
I can't follow your use (or misuse) of the word "pastor". Sometimes it seems like you are referring to the overseers, the shepherds, the elders (which is the correct usage), and sometimes it seems like you are referring to the preacher. I appreciate your stand for the Bible only and against such extra writings such as the Baptist Manual, Methodist Discipline, the works of Luther and Calvin, etc. Everything you say applies directly and spot-on to the Jehovah's Witnesses (and to a lesser degree, to the Mormons)
It’s also proclaiming Gods word his truth over the lies the enemy tells us about our self , our confidence is in Christ
This is a great message! Not popular but this message is truth!
The saddest things I ever witnessed in a cult I was vetting was... 1.Women telling me the pastors wife was 'cutting' and 'harsh' but praised her for her 'truth'. 2. A few telling me my 16 year old daughter's boyfriend was a product of Satan and leading her to sin. 3. My children were going to hell if they weren't saved.. all because my 14 year old son refused to be part of the circus. I raised a critical thinker. 4. An unhealthy obsession with rebuking witchcraft in every prayer and sermon and doomsday preaching. 5. Bombarding me with unannounced home visits when I decided to leave and messages to me saying I will go to hell and the devil has got me. 5. Gang stalking my social media when I left and left comments on posts I wrote with judgement calling me a jezebel spirit and a backslider. 6. A woman there who just managed to find her a job and then quit within 3 weeks because she had to be at a revival. 7. Finding out about their tactics on TH-cam and Facebook from ex members of this church and that they are a recognized confirmed cult. 8. Asking for 10 percent of my income in tithes and offerings to get to heaven ( they got my spare change when I had it ). This was an experience I would never forget.. and I was only there for three months lol
Very sad danger here that how once again this thing picks up and with churches that once were much more solid or many placed groups joined in the false bad ones ( that are hiding away their twisted ideas that is fed from ignorance of healthy good study of bible).
Loving ourselves is not our default. There are perhaps millions of people who don't love themselves. Some have even committed suicide because they don't love themselves. The Two greatest commandments: 1. Love God with all of your heart, mind, and soul. 2. Love your neighbor AS yourself. You indeed must love yourself in order to love others properly. Therefore, loving yourself is second to loving God (who is Love. The Source). Do you believe God loves Himself? Or do you believe God hates Himself? If you believe that the Most High Loves Himself, you have to understand that he expects us to do likewise. Self-love is not Self-ish. Self-ish is loving others less than yourself. You know, like 400 years of racism and oppression against African Americans. What you are doing is setting people up for exploitation. It's a tool of White Supremacy posing as Christianity. So let me get this straight. God is asking people to love themselves enough to place their Faith in His love, so they can spend an eternity in His presence, but not enough to love themselves actually? No. That is confusion. Loving yourself is a commandment. It prevents others from abusing and exploiting you. You, unknowingly, are promoting the false doctrine of white supremacy, WHICH DEPENDS on others who are willing to love themselves LESS, which is by Biblical definition, HATRED. . . the exploiters depend on others to love themselves less, in order for them to continue to exploit and maintain a position of privilege. No, my brothers and sisters. Do not ignore loving yourself. Love yourself enough to place your faith in Christ (Yeshua). Love yourself enough to prevent others from exploiting you and others. Hold Christians accountable when they are NOT loving themselves and others with equality and equity. That... is the truth. Ignoring your commandment to love yourself is a tool of shyster religious leaders and white supremacists who DEPEND on you ignoring this commandment. They cannot be successful without your self-hatred. Which is, again. . . loving yourself LESS THAN others. Love Bless. . . And keep the Faith. . . in the Love of God. And love yourself and others with equality and equity.
Solid advice, wonderfully presented. I feel loved and ready to love others.
