Waste of time Victor Krum. Too many steps. Phenolphthalein works at 8.5 pH just fine so EBT is cumbersome and unnecessary. Phenolphthalein is a common reagent in every lab and doesn’t need prep work. EDTA is colourless or light yellow anyway. So pink colour change in phenolphthalein can be seen easily. Best guess is that EBT is used for coloured compounds
