I will be following along!
Have an excellent trip! All the best in your travels!
Thanks so much!
Wow, your parents sent you back? I can't imagine being separated from my parents. My Lola brought us here first, "for a better life", and parents moved here, or rather give up their livelihood/lifestyle, to remain with us.
I have only very vague memories of that time, mostly informed through old photographs. The "better life" my parents worked hard for meant they had to get set up in Canada and work before affording to raise kids.
@JustCarloGeocaching What made them choose Canada vs the US?
What wonderful trip for the family. Enjoy yourself! ❤
Have a safe trip! Can't wait to see what you did!
Have a great time. Looking forward to seeing your journey.
What a special trip. I hope you all have an amazing time. I look forward to seeing the Philippines through you and your family!
Hi Vivy! Thanks!
Have a safe journey (I assume you are in the Philippines 🇵🇭 already) I’m sure it will be a great experience for you, your partner and the kids!
Yes, we're in the Philippines already. going to have to comb through a lot of footage when we get back to Canada LOL.
Sounds like fun! As for caching, do what I did for my Japan videos. Show a bunch of the cool stuff you saw at a certain location and throw in a cache that you found. Boom! Done! A travel video with a cache find! Two birds with one stone!
looking forward to the videos :) have fun yall
Thank Mazzy!
Happy, safe trip! I can't wait to see your video of the Philippines! :)
Thanks! Stay tuned :)
NICE!!! 3.5 weeks sounds kinda short based off of what Ive been told by coworkers traveling back home. Enjoy, and I hope the long travel flies by without any hiccups, but that the rest doesnt go by too quickly!
Definitely it's short for the amount of stuff we'd like to do (and might not get to). But it's the time we got, so we'll make the most of it.
That's fabulous!!
Wow, I also wondered what caches are like in the Philippines. Hopefully, not all are vacation caches and are still there. Are there any Adventure Labs?
There are some that appear on the map, for sure. I just don't know if I'll be able to get to them. Usually the airports have some.
Nice 👍🏼 have fun!
Thanks! I'm paking a page from your book, sharing family trips :)
@ Nice 👍🏼 always a good idea to Vlog your adventures with the family! Look forward to watching!
Wow, 3.5 weeks in the Philippines! Have a great time. Look forward to seeing what you experienced while you were there.
Thanks! I hope to document as much as I can (have to balance that with family visits, of course!)
A very intricate set Geoff came up with! Super impressed with how much this hobby has evolved over the years. Well done!
Thanks Keats! It's a labour of love, and the project hopes to instill another aspect of fun and adventure around this hobby ;)
very true!
You got the deluxe set! I was amazed at the amount of detail that was put into this. The art, design, layout, 3D (?) cutting of the pieces... It boggled my mind. I do find the whole story and everything to this to be a bit "difficult" to understand. It will be interesting to see where this goes.
Thanks Rich! The difficulty may be chalked up to the amount of time already passed since the story began (the first Geovlogmas!) and there's a lot of 'lore' to pick up to catch up. It's going to be a wild year ;)
Looking forward to learning more!
Yeah, I splurged a bit, LOL. It was fun putting it together, though.
You nailed it! Especially the fidgety bit, lol There is story unravelling slowly as well, through the campaign, video/podcast series, and on the website. Much more is in development, to be released once ALL the orders have been shipped! *phew* Thank you for supporting the project on Indiegogo! There are still coins to be sold in the first batch, so ordering will be available again ASAP. Cheers! :)
I've also never done a polar plunge. Good on you for doing it!
Thanks! I hope I’ve encouraged others to give it a try 😅
I am a paranormal researcher. I live in Ontario now but I lived near Saint Andrews NB for a couple of years. I heard through word of mouth that there was a long-gone community and possibly a graveyard at the algonquin golf course of freed enslaved peoples... This video was a jackpot find at the end of a long rabbit hole. Thank you for posting
Wow. I’m glad this video found its way to you. What an intersection of interests. Thank you for sharing your experience!
Hey, don't knock 33%! Quality takes time, at least, that is what I heard. I know the jimjam when you have more ideas than time. Not to mention NOT losing sight of the fun of playing the game and getting some finds. Like you said, it as about having fun (be it making videos or caches) and not being beholden to some timescale.
I've heard that about quality-it’s basically like a geocacher’s creed, right? 😂 I will say that a comment from @Skimbosh is an early achievement unlocked for 2025!
Braver than me 😂 3:21 nice to see you just get in and no messing around! Congratulations 🙌
I find it way colder to walk in slowly. Better to get it over with Haha!
@ very true! Like you I have done an ice bath and that was a quick in and out lol
Love it! Sounds like something right up my alley! Things are usually much too frozen here for such things, lol, but i love floating in the cold pool at the thermal spa 😅
If you're in BC for New Year's 2026, come and join us :)
Looks cold ❄️
It was! But apparently not as bad as in the past, when there was snow. I've seen your winter videos, and those seem colder 😂
@JustCarloGeocaching Yeah it's not easy to find caches in the snow. Glad to hear you have seen my video, hope you like it 🙂
Your braver than I carlo! Congratulations 🎉
Nah...I'm sure you could do it too.
Quite a small group this year! I think that I was one of the people at the first one. I've never gone in (I'm not THAT crazy!). I know those other people, too, LOL. Fun video. I'll call you brave, not crazy... :D
Yeah, the crowd was nice, but the number of swimmers was smaller. Happy to still make it happen though!
You're a badass Carlo! Happy New Year!
It was pretty refreshing! 😄
Last time I did a polar bear swim, I lost all feeling below my torso, and yet my legs were still somehow communicating to my brain. I think it was shear panic more than anything. Congrats on surviving the freezing Fraser!
That sounds pretty scary! I don’t think the water was cold enough for that to happen. Next time we should have a temperature check!
I hope the plungers got to log co-ftfs.
FTP-First to Plunge! 😂
Congrats! That's a big negative for me. LOL! Happy New Year!
Just 30 seconds of discomfort. Hehe not so bad. Apparently it snowed a few years ago.
Congrats! Haven't done a polar bear plunge since a kid at the cottage back in Ontario.
Just the words “cottage in Ontario” already sounds cold 🥶
You crazy! LOL
Crazy brave!
It’s was crazy fun heheh
Fail? 😂 You’d be in the baseball HOF if you were batting .333!
Not so bad in that case!
Wow! Thank you everyone for the supportive comments. I truly appreciate them, and am so encouraged by this community of cachers and geocaching content creators. I'm definitely making sure to still have fun producing videos, and looking forward to more opportunities in 2025!
Love the transparency and all the amazing content you share. It's tough to be a part-time creator; but man - you're doing really well. Looking forward to collaborating more in the future!
Thanks Jay! You always have encouraging words. Looking forward to more creative opportunities.
Don't worry dude. Look, your "fail" video has more views than one of my regular caching videos. :P So you are doing good. :D Let me know when you make it down to the Seattle area so we can team up for some caches. You still need the APE Cache, right?
Haha! Thanks Komikino! That's right, I still need the APE Cache, HQ, and (gulp) GCD... 😅 You up for that hike?
@JustCarloGeocaching Ape cache is an easy walk. GCD is a good hike but I know my knees will kill me on the way back down. There is one cache out there that I need still. The Edge of the World cache...
You're doing just fine. I enjoyed the four videos you made that featured your new cache builds. But yeah, regular video production can be a grind! You got this... just take it as it comes and remember this is all for fun and games. Keep doing what you do!
Thank you! I appreciate the support! Slowly but surely is how it goes, I guess :)
You do excellent work, Carlo! I'm 100% down for a collab. And thank you for the shout-out! Life gets in the way of creating content, and I've found myself getting REAL close to missing a Saturday for an episode to get published. Let's talk about a creator collab, see if LANMonkey wants to get involved too, and anyone else to create some entertaining content. I think we have a lot of creator talent in the Pacific Northwest, and I think it'll be fun to work on something. It was funny seeing that cache you found. I too thought that hole would have been perfect for a cache. All the best in the new year!
There's definitely a lot of talent in the PNW, and a lot of geocaching creators to be inspired by. I'll DM you with ideas!
@@JustCarloGeocaching Sounds good! My thinking cap is on.
You got 4 more than I did, lol
LOL!
Nothing to be sorry about. Life gets in the way as does motivation. Look how much better 2025 will be!
It's gonna be a good year! Every year gets better.
I love your videos. No worries if you didn't create 12 geocaches this year. 😊 This year marked my 10th year of geocaching. I didn't find as many caches as I would have liked to. Oh, well! I enjoy the experience when I do have the chance to. 👍
That's a great attitude. Thanks for watching and happy 10th Geo-versary to you!
Carlo, I like these videos and I learned about Geocaching. Looking forward for more content
Mazzy! Hey thanks for watching, and glad you learned something! So nice to hear from you :)
In 2024 I put 2 caches out, one to commemorate my 10th year joining geocaching and one to commemorate by 1st find 10 years ago. Great video series!
Those are great milestones. Happy 10th Geo-versary!
What volunteer work do you do?
We volunteer for our kids' school, as well as for their Scouts group. Thanks for watching!
It’s not easy when you have a busy life! I’ve also been able to get people of geocaching just from my uploads. Happy new year and here is to a great 2025! Nice cache find btw! 😊
Hey Raymondo! Happy new year to you as well, mate!
Omgosh these videos are so cuteee love the short and simple length of them! Yex/Alex shared your videos with me !
Tres belle vidéo et tres belle cache!!
Hi Carlo! Great video :) I love geocaching! There was one summer that there is a desert near my house and someone arranged a bunch of them in a PacMan type shape & we spent the whole summer finding them all, it was awesome. I'm wondering- is there an email I can reach you at? Thanks!
