Tutorial posted! th-cam.com/video/M7tfzZboFP4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IthRPq9gDrphsvkr
Excellent. Will try sometime soon!
Summer is coming!
Thank you, its a nice top. Only wish you would tell what hook have you used and more details on yarn and the sizing, like what size is this top. Scared to try :)))) may be I will find more detailed top, I'm a bit new in crocheting. But its a nice idea, thanks!
4mm hook, worsted weight cotton, all sizes start the same and add more rows for larger sizes.
This is a great video; your explanation is great for beginners, and your pace is perfect! The only thing I would change is how close the mic is to your mouth; I shouldn't here you swallow and breath into the mic.
Ok thanks for the feedback.
may you reply with the link once released? i tried making crochet gloves and it turned into a cactus in a dress when i decided to make it a dress because everything about it was off for the actual actus portion. :P
Yes I will share when it’s finished!

I’m confused on 2 points. Please help me understand. (1). If you keep the same ratio of 2 DCs into 1 stitch and 1 DC into the next stitches, does it matter whether you start the row with 2DC into the same stitch or 1 DC? (2). When ending the basic circle with DCs, HDCs, SCs, and slats, do you do this tapering for each color in the last round?
Hi, to answer your questions…1. You can start any of the rounds with either the 2dc (increase) or the regular dc(s).
2. If taping off the last round is what you want, 2 hdc, 2 sc, 2 slst will work well.
Thank you so much for you quick and helpful answers!
I've watched more than 3 videos on this u showed and explained more details ty I'm gonna frog the one I was doing and starting to make this again ty again
Let me know how it goes. Sometimes starting over is part of the learning process 😉
Türkçe alt yazı lütfen🙏🏻👍❤️❤️
Did you try closed captioning? Unsure if there is Turkish but subtitles are available
🔥 🔥 🔥
🎉❄️✨
How do you make the top stand up?
You can try a few things: 1. Increase tension 2. Thicker yarn 3. Use two yarns to increase thickness 4. Smaller hook 5. Fill the top in with polyfill
@ thank you!
Making this now! Thanks for the tutorial :)
Yay! Let me know how it turns out.
Thank you ❤
🤗you’re welcome
Pls I want to know something. Would a material or cloth be put inside the cup to avoid itching because I recall that wool itches.
You could certainly try that. I do not usually use wool yarns for summer tops unless it’s Merino wool which is quite nice but will smell like sheep if you get It wet. Cotton yarn is ideal for summer Tops, acrylic can work but yea some is scratchy. Pick something that isn’t itchy.
Thanks so much.
What I don't get is many of these creators will show u how to make it but the instant you want the pattern they want money.
Hi 👋 I am running a full time crochet business. I make income from my pattern sales and also income from YouYube views. You can keep coming back to my channel and watching my tutorials and learn a pattern for free. But a step by step written guide with sizing details that is a printable pdf copy you can keep forever without using the internet will cost a few dollars. Either way I make money off you ✌🏼 thanks for the engagement.
i don't know what im doing wrong😭 my cylinder is slowly getting wider as i go
You must be adding extra stitches… 27 per round in the first part
You might be working a stitch into your slip stitch. Skip it and your stitch count shouldn't go up.
Pipe cleaners work well for a stiffer brim that you can bend easily. Old school techniques never go out of style. I don’t like to reinvent the wheel. lol.
Can you see the fuzz between stitches? Would love to see, share with me on IG @crochet.with.illjay
Thank you ❤
🙏🏼
i have books going back to 1700's from my great grandma. i never download any pattern that to perfect and i been doing this since i was 4 or 5
What kind of patterns are in that book? Sounds cool
@@crochet.with.illjay every thin from cloths to afghans . the are in German and she said you will learn this all time
5:16 She says single crochet, but in the video she is doing the half double crochet. Hopefully others see this and don’t have to redo the round like I have!
Yes, sorry I did say the wrong thing at that moment. The pattern is all HDC, do as I do ;)
Man it would be really helpful to say what you start with... Like... Where on the cape are we I don't know how long or big
I briefly mention that it is the neckline, thanks for feedback though. There is a written pattern for sale if that would be more helpful for you. illjay.com/collections/patterns/products/pdf-pattern-the-hooded-cloak
I wish you would go slower for beginners, you were going so fast I couldn't tell exactly what you were doing
Thanks for the feedback. Not all my videos are beginner friendly but the ones that are usually have it in title.
Can you actually swim in this?
You could yeah! Pick a yarn you don’t mind having wet on your skin.
How is this finished? With a slip stitch ?
Hi, this is just a tutorial for the technique not a stand alone pattern. If you would like to finish with a tapered edge, you can follow up with a 2 sc, then 2slip sts .
I would love to work with you Can we. Work together. I need to make my own projects myself.
It's amazing ty I'm making this for my friend for Xmas 🎁🎁
Yay! How did it turn out??
Thank you so much. Great video !
Thank you!! 🤗
the background rain makes it 100x better❤😂
What colorway and brand is the red brown and turquoise yarn? I love it!
This is a good tutorial I like and subscribe
Pls we need it to be slow I can't catch up you are so fast 🎉 wow
Hi there, I’m a bit confused about the hood section- you mention working in rows- 45 stitches (half of the total) then turning the work and going back and forth like that but it seems like you actually go right the way round before turning the work. Leaving an opening for the face. It seems more like it’s also 90 stitches but back and forth instead of completing the row? Sorry I’m new to crochet so just wrapping my head around how it works 😅
I understand now (I think)- it’s because you are in the middle of a round. So you do one half a round before starting the hood part to ensure the rows of work remain even. If that makes sense- hope it helps anyone in future :)
So, I've made this cloak a few times and I have to say I really love it. Every time I want to make a new cloak, either for myself or as a gift, I always end up turning back to this tutorial at some point just to make sure I'm not self-sabotoging myself as I go. Thank you so much for posting this video and sharing this wonderful art with the world! People like you are what keeps the crochet and other fabric-based communities alive! <3
Great tutorial for intermediate crochetes, for beginners it may be alittle fast. But if you have experience and need a quick tutorial, this is the perfect one, made mines in around an hour and a half. Thank you! ❤
I lrarned from this... Thrift - store resources matter.
I saw wicked with my sis and mom. I've never wanted to see a movie in theaters for a second time. But I do. And my husband is going to take me. I have green eye shadow. TELL ME NOT TO START TRYING TO MAKE THIS I ALRRADY HAVE 4.5 FROGGY HATS AND 3 MOO DENG AMIGURUMI TO MAKE BEFORE CHRISTMAS
Great video, only wish there would be some words on screen to help with sound off while watching
Hi! You can turn on closed captioning for the video.
Omg beer mittens. I gotta make those for my stepdad! Lol 😆
Yes, great gift for the guys!
I love mine! Do you have a recommendation for a regular mitten crochet pattern to match? (If I made the crochet beverage mitten for one hand a regular for the other?)
I am considering doing a pattern update with a matching mitten as you aren’t the first to ask. 😉😉
this is lovely I had to adjust it some though because I have a big head.😂
How did you adjust? It may not be your head, your tension might just be tighter than mine.
@crochet.with.illjay I just added a few rows of the half triple/ half double with increases. and ya my tension might be a pinch tight. my hat is starting to stand perfectly no starch needed. 😀
I was looking for something exactly like this ❤
🙌🏼have fun
made this hat for the wicked movie! thank you great tutorial! <3
Awesome, thank you!
So beautiful, I love it, I’m going to watch this on slow motion & copy stitch for stitch. I’m a beginner 😅
You got this, it’s all double crochet! 🙌🏼
U are going too faster
Should I do a slow version tutorial??
