I want to watch this movie now. That singing teacher is funny.
Got myself a Bryce Hat. Its awesome, great sun hat/work hat.
Is that Bryce model ??? Thanks in advance
In my opinion this analysis is not great because it fails to contextualize the movie in the larger picture, which is the trilogy. In the 3rd movie, it is proven to batman that the lie made him weak and greater even a worse and more dangerous villain like Bane. It is not an apology to the lie, but a criticism of it.
Does anyone know what the background song is called
It's pronounced 'New-la' by the way
It's so fucking Jungian thing, Ledger Joker is donald trump, Jordan Peterson is Joaquin Phoenix joker. The right wing hates Hollywood because Hollywood has its fucking number, Without even being conscious of it, purely in spirit
I think Zizek has missed something here. Does the film really endorse the position that Zizek says it does? I would claim yes, BUT. The but is important. Dark Knight does claim that a lie is needed to maintain the law today, but this exception to the law that Batman represents must not be elevated to a position of heroism like all other superhero films do, but it must be seen as antithetical to the law and therefore a true hero is someone who allows us to exist in a lie at their expense. In this course of events, George W. Bush would have immediately put himself under investigation for war crimes and breaking of constitution. But of course, he didn't. I think this film is rebelling against the superhero industry and what it represents, that exceptionality to the law is not something to be repeated again and again but must be done with a huge cost if it is to maintain law and order. It's still a conservative story but one that is still rebelling against modern trends like a Leftist film does.
I thought Kant was against the noble lie... but I never read his political writings... just the categorical imperative...
Wow... Thank you so much for sharing. Such a joy to see these wonderful ladies sing and dance. As the saying goes... 'They don't make 'em like that anymore...'

God you people are insufferable. You won't take the slightest effort to try and see underlying message, you just make the most shallow mundane comments.
Hello! My name is Tony and I ruin movies. ESPECIALLY the ones i love, like this CLASSIC! Let's dive in- 1) Mr. Black People? I know Jerry, like everyone who represents probably a large number of black athletes. But how does he feel he has more connection than Sugar to black athletes? Yes, I know. I am being "that guy" right now, and I know he was reacting defensively to Sugar's quote, but he's really being pretty racially insensitive. He's not worried about the plight of black people, he's worried he will lose money by losing the right to represent them. 2) Sugar did NOT know the strippers name- Notice he asked if whoever was on the phone knew it? Obviously they said "no". So now he's free to make up whatever name he wants! It was a smart move, but he's full of shit. The bigger point though is that he was definitely NOT on the road with whoever this athlete is keeping track of their strippers. The entire plot of this movie is that these agents are "Shark in a suit" types. They don't care about the athlete, they care about the contract, and then basically abandon them. Crowe goes out of his way to shove this narrative in our face. And the ONLY reason McGuire succeeds both personally and professionally in the end is because he (although forced to do so), puts his one client above everything else in his life. He goes where Tidwell goes, hangs out with the family at important events, etc. And in the end, we even see where other athletes represented by Sugar admonish him for not having any kind of relationship with them. So again, he does not pick one athlete to know intimate details about. 3) Sorry, but Sugar is actually right. "It's not show friends, it's show business". As lovely as the poetry of Cameron Crowe's narrative about putting people over profit seems, this is the world of professional sports. People are not going to take less money just because it's the "nice" thing to do. But further still, the notion that Tidwell gets paid crazy money because of the one game against Dallas just because he excessively celebrated might be the biggest hell-worthy trespass of this entire film. Even if we do believe that a "Shark" like McGuire, who up until the start of this film was just another "Sugar" can change, are we really to believe that an NFL franchise is going to uniformly change? No. He's still not a "prototypical wide receiver". He is still "5' 11" with an attitude problem" and very injury prone. In fact, IF anything, this reception would probably be a net loss for tidwell. This would scare the sh*t out of any executive in the league and if anything, his league value would take an even bigger hit. They would not say "hey! You went unconscious during a routine catch! Thanks for holding on to the ball, but we're not going to risk tying that much money up in an undersized receiver who could die next hit". Rod clearly didn't take a physical or anything either as they surprised him on TV with the contract. Sorry Rod. It's not show "friends"... 4) The Entire Scene could not happen- Even back in the 90s, there were strict HR rules in most major corporations. A company like this which does business in the BILLIONS each year would certainly have an employee termination protocol that would prevent this scene from ever happening. a. Sugar would not do the firing- This would be handled by an HR rep. Not by another agent in the firm. There are LEGAL ramifications for this, exactly to prevent what Sugar actually did which was to fire him for suggesting the "people over profit" thing. That would actually open up the firm to wrongful termination suits. b. The HR rep would call McGuire up to the office and explain what happened. While that was happening, his logins, keycards, access codes/passwords etc would all be immediately cancelled. He would not be able to get into his desk phone, his mobile, or certainly not his computer. His secretary would also be made aware and probably dismissed for the day or reassigned for a few hours to prevent any improper notification. He would then be walked to his office by an HR rep to grab only his immediate needs (Wallet, keys, etc). He wouldn't even be able to pack his personal effects. Those would be boxed and shipped to him. c. His clients would also be simultaneously and immediately notified that their affairs are being reassigned to a different agent. Remember, their contract is with SMI, not with Jerry MCGuire. d. But yeah, the LAST thing he would be allowed to do would be go back to his office, use firm resources to try to undercut the firm and keep clients for a new business that he hasn't even started yet. That's it for now! And yes, I do have WAY too much time on my hands. (and it's just for grins... relax!)
I'm with you except on 3. DUE to the publicity around the injury - Tidwell would get massive love and they would pay him the contract because it's an entertaining story. The irony is that Tidwell earlier in the film got angry(rightfully so) when he said, "You want me to dance"....Well Rod guess what, you did the dance and because U did, U will get your money.
What’s the music called?

In the name of peace......bloody fucking Bush....
You cannot lie if you do not know the truth. Putting aside the semantic and legal difference between an active weapons program and weapons already acquired (chemical weapons), it is incorrect to say that Rumsfeld or Blair lied about Iraq's active pursuit of WMD, because people say they know things which turn out not to be true all the time. It doesn't make them liars, it just means they were wrong.
You forgot, evil. Dont forget they are also evil

The old man was on fire
Sky Dumont
Ngl Christopher Nolan’s Batman series is super right wing.
Gotta love going to war in the name of peace
Sky Dumont
Yes! I enjoyed this man's performance. His character was extremely seductive and extremely good looking. I sensed how dangerous he was, but I found it very difficult to look away. His conversation was titillating and erotic in subtext. I just had to see where he was going with it. That fascination is like looking into the cobra's eye. Once he fixes your gaze, you're done.Thank God, it was only a movie! I never met anyone in real life who could transfix me like that. There's always some glitch that breaks the spell(i.e. nervous fidget, stumble over a word, etc.). Sky Dumont's delivery was flawlessly diabolical. Great acting, great movie!
As a German, iam proud that this great German actor has such a nice role in one of the biggest masterpieces ever.
This makes a lot of sense when you apply this way of thinking to feudalism and the church
Feudalism never ended. It just added extra steps. Jeff besos is a Lord and he has many hectares of land and serfs doing his work. He does not pay taxes while his employes have too. government officials also get bribed to give contracts to him to "bring" jobs to their community, meaning that part of the taxes circle back around to the guy you are working for.
